Hey guys I know this thread is a little old but I just got my P2 a few hours ago. About an hour ago I had one battery reach full charge. The other one has not. It is warm, pretty warm, but I would not say hot. Do some just take longer? I'm sorry if this has already been covered but I'm going to post this first and then read the last 5 pages that I have because I don't want to ruin anything if I'm running that risk.

How long has it been charging? I've forgotten the specs on the P2 charger but I suspect it is a 500 mA so a completely dead battery would take about 4-4.5 hours. They do get warm while charging, but shouldn't get too hot to touch.

Hi! Just got my Palm 2.0 and a g pen today; pen works great but I don't know how reliable my supply of wax or desire to make it will be so Palm looked and still looks ideal, but I can't get it to go! Batteries show a full charge in charger, removed the paper(?)sticker gaskets, placed positive end into device negative end with rubber cap, pushing in as hard as I can, so much that I'm nervous it's going to break, but no indicator light or indications of vaporizing. Any assistance is appreciated.

If there is no indicator light with a charged battery fully depressed it sounds like you've got a dead unit. Can you feel any warmth on the load after the battery has been pressed for a few seconds?

I don't, so I should feel warmth from the unit then? I wasn't sure how common dead units were. Dang.

Well.. Dead unit, dead batteries, dead charger. Something isn't functioning. I don't know how common that is. Mine works fine.

Take the load out and press the battery down for about 5 seconds. The trench should be hot, or on the warmer side of warm.

Yeah, still nothing. Should I feel a catch or give or any touch indication of when it's pushed in far enough?

No. Nothing like that. I guess I have the advantage of having a clear unit so I can see the inner workings. There is a small pad that sits on top of the connector. That's the only resistance you'll feel, and it isn't much.

We can dream, can't we... :)

Enjoyed the entire read. Great info, definitely learning a lot from just being here a few weeks.

I just ordered a Palm 2.0 yesterday, had missed that post when skimming through the reviews before. I'm super excited to get it after reading it. Love the VB products so far (Pinnacle Pro + VB 2.0). Pax getting no love anymore.

Edit addition:

Two questions, I've never used a push battery device before.

1) Is the battery supposed to be held down the entire hit, then release when I'm done?
2) I plan to pack the trench full, does that pose any issues?

It's a preference/technique thing. I pack tight and run it hot. I use this primarily for flowers for a quick session. It's wonderful with pollen as well. You're just gonna have to play with it to find what works. I will say that I combusted a lot at first but not so much anymore. If it happens just open it up and tamp it down. If it's out of control I just dump the load. :( It can several seconds to get it up to temp. I agree that this thing could use slightly beefier batteries. Once I'm up to temp during the draw I work the battery almost like a carb on a pipe and completely release the battery for the last couple seconds of drawing. Works well for me.

The P2 has a small screen that heats up quickly so the batteries that come with it are actually fairly weak. They aren't up to working in the MFLB, for example, but they are fine for the P2. Using more powerful batteries increases the risk of combustion significantly. Powerex Imedion batteries (LSD) are a step up and work well in the P2. Powerex 2400 batteries (HSD) are probably the most powerful that you want to try, but expect a fair amount of combustion while you learn how to use them. The MFLB glyph batteries are overkill and basically turn the P2 into a lighter.

I use Tenergy 2500s in both my palm and palm 2.0 and they are perfect, Powerex 2400s take them both to combustion as do the older magic flight 2200s. The mAh # doesn't seem to have any bearing on how they power a vape.

First use, char city...yuck. Totally black (looked lit) in the middle, green on the edges. Chalking it up to inexperience, I held it down too long I think. Used it a couple times since, although now I'm gun shy to even push the battery down, but it tastes like I'm sucking on a piece of lighter fluid soaked charcoal and the edges aren't even charred, just the center. Hopefully I didn't ruin it by running it too hot too long on the first use. I'll keep trying.

Does the amount of pressure on the battery dictate the amount of heat, as if I'm pressing really hard it gets hotter, versus just pressing it softly and it not getting so hot?

One virtue of the P2 is that it doesn't retain the burnt taste after you combust as long as you clean the screens.

Adding pressure doesn't make it get hotter. Use the stock batteries, they're not as prone to combustion. Drawing a little faster will reduce the heat. You can also pulse the battery. The P2 I had was good for that because the pushback ring in it had a lot of resistance.

I was having the same problems when I first tried the Palm 2.0. I found that if I take micro hits it was less likely to combust. I also found that if I only half fill the trench I can take my hit and then shake the P2, take a hit & shake, take a hit & shake......all the time holding down the battery without combustion. I think the secret is in the shake.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm still trying so keep 'em coming. I'm getting nice cloudy hits, they just taste like shit. I took the top screen out (saw Dogman do this on his review) and it seemed to taste better, but I still can't get it to NOT taste like metal burning or like it's being cooked with a lighter. I'm positive it's just me, the reviews all had this piece ranking very well in terms of great flavor (which is why I bought it) so it's gotta be my rookie-ness as to why I haven't experienced that yet.

Used it a few more times, still getting good hits, but still not able to find that good flavor. Just tastes like combustion burning. The burning of the botanical is very uneven too, seems like it requires constant stirring.

The little black ring on top of one of the batteries came off when I was pulling off the rubber cap. I've pressed it back on (there was a little glue still present) but I'm nervous about it charging now, or even when I use it. Will that cause an issue of any kind? Any help is appreciated.

You have to clean it if you've already combusted, then after going through more sessions without combustion the flavor shouldn't be there.

I immediately clean after combusting in a stem, the taste stays and defeats the point in vaping. My rings also came off of my batteries, I think you'll be okay. If that black ring was just like some paper.

The nipple on the battery is the positive terminal, the exposed body is the negative one. As far as I know, the little paper ring around the nipple is completely optional.

I am still in love with this guy. It's much easier to conceal in my hands than the mflb and the smaller trench seems to work better for my typical use as I am not prone to over-vaping or wasting battery as three good long hits and my trench is done (I don't fill completely).

A few things...
- I tried shredding with one of those credit card grinders and it works wonderfully! Granted, my herb was pretty dry but the manual shredding process reaaaaally made a nice fine powderlike consistency.

- I took out the black rubber battery pushback ring, much like I did with the mflb, and that helped make use completely effortless. I find that I may need to rotate the battery along its axis to get a solid light and thus consistent connection, but pressing the battery in and holding it was tiresome after a point. I determined that replacing the ring was quite easy too.

- I did have some combustion issues once, and it took a good cleaning to completely remove residual tastes and odors, but I found out that removing both screens is actually pretty easy with some gentle prying. Still, I think it would be prudent to have some replacement screens handy. I wonder how difficult it would be to make my own...

Well I finally got me a Palm 2.0... it wasnt a GREAT first experience but with anything I keep an open mind and try what little vape skills I have to get things working...

So I picked up a Red Palm 2.0 yesterday and got home quickly so I could charge the batteries for the nights FC sessions and testing of the new rig. Not having used anything as manual I tried to read as much as I could before starting. I packed my first trench and well right off the bat it chared my meds and gave me one step down from a bong hit... the wife came running and said NO SMOKING... so I knew it was combusting... so I turn to the net, read some more, fire up the HotBox, this is gonna be a long night... so after 5 hours and about 10 trenches... I had managed to find a small sweet spot on the screen, about the size of a pencil eraser that got extremely hot but no where else... anything on this spot just chared super quick. the battery also felt well wrong.. everyone talks about how lose it is... but mind needed a little force to get in then has no resistance, nothing like the spring action I felt on the floor model... this morning, found a little chunk of white plastic in the box... turns out the be from the second white ring inside... so there is something broke..

So not to panic, packed it all up and headed down to the shop I got it, and after talking to the clerk, explaining it all she remembered me clearly from yesterday, but told me that sorry all defects and issues are to be taken up with the mfg... I almost lost it, thats why I try to buy local, for the warranty and the personal service... having bought a few of my vapes and tools from there... I asked her again and she made the call... the owner said not a problem, but just this one time... I got a UN-touched Palm 2.0 (the others all looked pushed in on the screen).. I kept my batteries, because they were fully charged and didnt seem to be an issue with them (in hind site, could have been battery issues with the first one, but doubt it since both did the same thing.

So I get home, excited to try it again... filled the trench... hit the battery and noticed right away the feel was different when I pushed... I counted to 5 and took a small steady flow pull.... and BAM I could take the yummy goodness you all talk and praise about!! I cant really see the stream through the window, too close, guess my nose gets in the way ;) lol

So, happy to say that I think I got a good one, and have found a local shop willing to help out a long time customer... Saving him from my sales lost in the future!

I will review more in detail next time, but for now I got some learning to do!! now that I know I am working with the right tools!! Thanks for all the reviews, dogman your video sold me btw, give your self credit, even if most people just watch and dont comment, your what makes these sites tick!!

Pak and OF, your insight and tips made it almost perfect from first draw!!
