Hi, I am going to the bay area this weekend for 4/20  and will be picking up this pen, it is made by Organalabs out of CO. They produce a disposable cart full of their own strain specific c02 oil which fit only on their pens.

Here's the site for the pen http://www.openvape.com

heres the site for organalabs http://www.organalabs.com

and here is a link to their disposable carts which are sold at a select few dispensaries in WA, CA, and CO- http://www.stickyguide.com/dispensaries/berkeley-patients-group/products/open-vape-chem-dawg-co2-cartridge

When I get home on Monday I will post up some pics and a review.

This will no doubt end up being merged with the e-cig thread. They didn't even rebrand a good e-cig.

I would be surprised if they put only Co2 in the carts. My guess is they cut it with glycerine to make it thin enough to feed. Proper Co2 is the consistency of jelly.

Perhaps when they update their website to show actual parts it will be more clear.

I've had 2 Co2 syringes from organalabs and they were vastly different consistencies. One was a thick jelly (and not without bubbles) and the other was much runnier (bubble free)

Doesn't seem like it would make sense they would cut one thing with glycerine, and the other not, all while charging the same for both :hmm:

Note: The thicker CO2[bubbles] I have from Organalabs is constantly causing clogs with a 1.5ohm omi cart. Not ruling out user error there though~

So overall I'm a tad conflicted with Organalab products, tho I do like the price.

SD_haze,
I have one of these. It's good for its purpose, which is a super stealthy portable for public use (great for concerts). I do think the carts are glycerin. The one thing I really like about this is that it hits every. damn. time. I had an Ego T that was useless, and also have an Alpha Ultra which is really nice, but not super reliable. Sometimes it's amazing, and then sometimes I can't get it to do anything at all. It sucks when you invite people to play with your vape and can't get it to actually vape.

I know, I'm a first time poster so I'm not allowed to have an opinion and obviously work for the company or whatever (I don't), but it's good as a thc delivery system when you're going to be out and about and just want something that works. I am not as educated as I probably should be on what the problem with glycerin is, so maybe that's a deal breaker.

Mind expanding on this bit? I've got one in my pocket that has been consistent. I haven't even given any other portable oil pieces a thought because of my UltraDART (with the exception of throwing TV's Cera Essential Oil piece on top of it)... there's someone looking for an Ultra in the classified by the way... the DART (originally ~$65 with tax and shipping) is selling for a bill. Someone offered $130 for a new one... just a thought.

Quetzalcoatl,
Yeah, it could be user error. I have no idea. I don't have the dart which is maybe the problem, because people seem to love it. I have whatever the other one is. Revolution I think? I just have problems getting it to do much of anything about half the time. I thought maybe I was running the batteries out so got in the habit of switching them often, which has helped, but a lot of the time I just barely get vapors from it. Every once in a while something clicks--whether it's me having done something right, I don't know--and I get huge clouds and it rocks. Just lots of trouble getting there. I end up fiddling with trying to get the wax on just the right spot and scraping it off the sides. I might be underloading, but when I overloaded it, that was kind of a disaster and it clogged and spewed. Also, I have a hell of a time doing much of anything in that tiny little window, so end up taking the top off and then it's a bitch to get back on..

went to BPG today in Berkeley. They had the o pen carts and pen but i passed, the back of the package says it contains VG.

Got a gram of the pure nectar c02 which is listed in the ingredients as 100% c02 oil, which makes sense, its super thick. Also got some PG for this omicron thing hehe..

As always with Omicron carts I think doing a 'foil test' is key. Put a small amount on a bit of foil and heat it from below with your lighter. You're looking for it to melt quickly, flow freely then completely evaporate away leaving at most a tiny bit on the foil. If it doesn't do this, it's going to foul the Omicron cart or not feed well......don't get more of it for that use.

Given good concentrates for the job, many in the $35/gram range, will run an average of 3 grams in that ten dollar cart Omicron can actually be quite frugal. Overall we're talking a dime a hit? Those would be serious hits, say 2mg of THC per? For reference a gram of top shelf bud has say 200 mg of THC (20%), so we'd be talking ten dollar grams to top shelf bud equivalent?

Stack this up against a Omicron Light and a few grams of oil.......

Picked one of these up in Seattle, WA with a couple of carts and am really liking it so far. I'm in it totally for the stealth reasons for travel, like that the carts have virtually no smell (except when actually using, of course).

The carts are packaged by Sound CO2 and I'm told they're really tasty for CO2 extracts without the annoying overtaste some CO2 extracts have, though I'm not that familiar with them myself.

I wrote a review elsewhere I could post up here (really limited crossover audience - not a competitor) if interested, otherwise strikes me as an e-cig that works for my needs without me actually having to touch ANYTHING. This in itself is the next evolutionary step I haven't seen anywhere else...

Actually it's kind of old news. Several 'makers' have come and gone over the last few years. "One Love" is the only one I can think of off hand, but there's another around that's widely held to be a scam trying to find investors to fleece. And you can, of course, get prefilled Omicron carts in at least a few places.

The problem seems to end up availability. Selection is limited usually and access hard to impossible. IMO the ability to 'roll your own', even if only as a fall back, is essential if you're going to depend on such systems for Medical use. I'd suggest getting a few 2.4 Ohm Omicron carts, a loading tool and adapter if needed for your unit and learning how to load it when you have other options.....it's really not all that hard and does work quite well. IMO sooner or later you'll be glad it's available?

Good luck.

I see where you're coming from and understand the message, but I do have an Omicron V2 and the full Persei line of toys and was planning on using this as a stealth travel alternative. I've been using the poofy caps D9V sells online (much better than the tiny white caps IMO) while storing, but there is still quite the odor that lingers, depending on the freshness and quality of the BHO. Using a tube actually makes it worse since it stores up and gives off a very strong whiff when opened. For short trips, I'm finding this O.Pen Vape much more preferable because even the vapor itself doesn't smell nearly as strong, and while I have my legal status and all, I prefer not to advertise. So, for me at least, this has been working out better, while perhaps not as fun ;)

I got a CE4 cartridge as well as the quad-coil cartomizers from D9V (same form factor as the normal extract carts - Nibbler X works with it too, lol) so try to "legitimize" my Persei and been seen using it around work to get people used to seeing that device (though I might use it to different ends off work hours), but I'd say 3/5 people who notice it who are smoking outside flat out ask if you can smoke pot out of it -- quite a disturbing trend especially when one of those asking runs your entire company unit. Time to back down a little (though I would have raised the battle standard earlier in life, not so much when my paycheck is involved anymore).

Organlabs lists no businesses partners or contacts in Washington, but locally, Sound CO2 is cranking out the cartridges which I've found in at least three locations. Each cartridge shows the name of the donating garden, so if I'm overly fond of something, I can usually track down the same flowers it came from. (They claim a high percentage of popcorn nuglets in addition to sugar trim - extraction is typically done with wet trim, so by the time this hits the shelf, the flowers themselves usually have a couple more weeks cure time before they hit the shelves).

This is true of the higher quality BHO which usually come from the direct source as well, but I found this concept of garden-to-product much more meaningful to me than using the Pure Gold product, which seems like the Kroger Cost-Cutter brand of concentrates at caviar prices (BHO being Coca-Cola and CO2 extracts being like RC Cola... disclaimer: I do like RC Cola). (Though I haven't tried doing this, I do have a friend that swears by topping off with PG in none-piney strain cartridges to give it longevity and kick, which imo makes it an expensive cartridge indeed!)

I'm not sure what type thread (not 510 or 601) this vape is using, but I know it's a standard as a co-worker's ejuice cartridge plugged right in to the O.Pen battery and looked and worked the same (except his battery had a button), so I am getting a "legit" cartridge to complete the "cover" (with non-nicotine ejuice), as it really is just an e-cig, given that it's an e-cig with an up-and-coming high volume cartridge distribution system.

So a niche product? I'm split as to whether or not I would recommend this a primary vape. I'm hesistant about PG-anything (as in not Pure Gold but the ejuice mixer), but this truly is a "clean" vape with almost zero learning curve. If dosage is just occasional, it just works. If used only for travel, it just works. Zero mess - you don't touch the actual load. At all. No buttons to learn a flute method with - you just.. breathe. Metered dose? It turns off after a few seconds automatically. What do you have to do? Occasionally charge the battery or change the cartridge. And you can use as an e-cig. An e-cig with a stylus tip for my tablet and smart phone.

Personally, even though the technology is piggy-backing and not even evolutionary, the usability aspects and stealthiness are what have my interest. So though it's boring in almost every possible aspect, it's still a great solution for certain problems.

Even if the supply dries up tomorrow, I basically got the battery for free, so I'll just shrug and move on. Currently it is providing some value to me, so I'll just take it as it comes ;)

I already wrote more here than in my "review", LOL...

Bottom line is it's a rebranded e-cig with a process to integrate strain-specific CO2 extracts into PG cartomizers with a distribution system that uses dispensaries. Then pen works, is pretty damned stealth but is nothing special other than the fact you're vaping CO2 extract instead of ejuice without getting your hands dirty. At all.

Ahh okay. I already have a g-pen but it's too messy to keep re-buying tanks. I've been looking for a good disposable-cartridge style vaporizer, and only one clinic in my area carries these. How would you say it compares to the trippy stix/vapor cone?

Hey guys, this is a quick review of the O.pen Vape, produced by OrganaLabs and distributed by Med-West, located in San Diego.

Pen site: www.openvape.com
OrganaLabs: www.organalabs.com

I currently use a small nail rig and a g-pen, but I wanted something very discreet and ultraportable for a trip I'm going on. I've read many mixed reviews about the O.pen Vape but it's the only vape that fit my criteria in the East Bay so I decided to cough up the bones for it.
Unfortunately, the clinic I went to (the only clinic that carries the O.pen) didn't have a buy-2-cartridges-get-the-battery-free deal so I dropped $25 for the battery and $25 for a 250mg Blue Dream cartridge.
aQ4mQ1p.jpg

Interestingly enough, the Bd was labelled as a Sativa..

The charger, when plugged in to the battery, glowed red and eventually changed to green after about 15 minutes of charging.
eyjCm2C.jpg

The tip of the battery glowed white whilst charging and eventually stopped, which is supposed to be an indicator that the battery is done charging. Something I noticed was that the battery itself did not glow red while charging, as indicated in the manual. It seems that my model (unless it's defective) only glows white, whether charging or hitting.
96XGRIt.jpg

The cartridge had two rubber stoppers, one on the bottom where the battery threading is, and one on top under the cap. There were no instructions pertaining to this, but I'm actually not sure if I was supposed to take the top stopper off, because without it the concentrate would drip right out the top.
8JcXmVG.jpg

As for the actual vaporization...
I drew a firm and steady breath until the lights on the battery started flashing white- I did this in succession thrice. The vapor tasted pretty bland, and felt lacking, notwithstanding the fact that the carts are cut with Polyethylene Glycol. There was definitely a slight hint of plastic or some other off-putting taste.
I decided to try it without the stopper located underneath the cap, and the results were indistinguishable.
ZrPT3IH.jpg

At the time of typing this, I've taken about 6 full hits. It elevated me to a mild 3-4 after about 10 minutes. The amount of oil left has also dramatically decreased; there's about 65% left in the cartridge. This makes me feel like I'm either doing something wrong, or I have a faulty cart. At this rate, I'll probably finish the cart in another 10 hits or so, which would be absolutely ridiculous.
If anyone else who has tried the O.pen vape has some answers, please enlighten us.

I got this pen a few months ago because of how discrete it was. My 500mg tanks usually lasted me well over 100 hits (though my hits are probably much smaller than yours ><). However, 16 full hits out of 250mg doesn't seem right at all.

Ah sorry for the delay, It didn't seem like anyone was really interested (and for good reason).
The cartridge ended up leaking all over, so I took it back and got a new cartridge and battery. The new one definitely lasts longer-- I've been using this for about 4 days now, and it's about half full now.
I usually draw thrice; puff for 4 seconds, let the blinking lights reset, and repeat twice more. This is pretty much the only way I can get thick enough vapors to convince myself that the oil isn't completely bunk.

@DubCRider
Haha I know, but I just needed a quick-fix for my trip. I definitely won't be buying anymore cartridges in the future.

I'm new to the forum but I think I may be able to shed some light on the o.pen as I used to extract for organalabs. So for starters they aren't necessarily strain specific. to keep up with demand the trim is usually a blend of similar strains. of course this negates the benefits of strain specific oil. Second the oil has the added benefit of being cut with peg at a rate of 50/50. propylene glycol may not be safe to vape, more research is needed. sound co2 is an organalabs franchisee located on bainbridge island, Wa. O.pens are the bud/ miller lites of the vape world. for beginners or those looking for something better than bho. but with peg in them I doubt they are a healthy alternative.

But for getting back from a cruise the wife and I went on and being able to cross borders without a second glance is where I find the value, and frankly, there's nothing else even close (can't take food, etc). I do have an issue with a leaky cartridge gumming the battery so it won't fire.. they've replaced the battery once already due to something else, so reliability may be a concern.

Edit: question - what size are these threads? Don't seem to be 510, and they're not 601..
