Bulk purchases @grokit. There is a better price per gram if one buys by the ounce. The same will probably apply to edibles and extracts.

Table 01 is the recreational limit and Table 02 is the medical.

I'm not sure I'm understanding the information correctly though. 250mg for recreational would suck, I'd prefer 1gm at a minimum. Table 02 lists medical limits at 1000mg (1gm), but that doesn't seem right as I have a medical friend that bought over 3 grams she just purchased (for her use of course :cool:).

All said and done (and to be realistic), if I were medical I wouldn't bother renewing my card. The current limit of recreational purchasing 7gm per day and vaporizing, I have more than enough to last me a year with casual buying when I'm heading home from the pub or taking a break at work. I may be an exception, because concentrates knock me off my ass, so 1gm tends to last me a few months (I only do concentrates on the weekend (with no other plans)).

Edit: Just reread @macbill's post and noticed it will only be prepackaged cartridges. Nope, not going to do that. The main reason I do concentrates is the dabbing ritual.. I like to feel like a sleazy crack head every once in a while.

I'm actually thinking of applying for a medical card with the changes coming up. Separate rec and medical dispensaries- I think I trust the medical ones more than the rec ones that are coming up. So far you can't buy an ounce or concentrates or edibles if you are a rec user and I'm not sure when that will change.

The problem is that the edibles have to be weak. A lot of people are upset about this.

The other new thing today is that concentrates can also be sold recreationally. But the law is such that the form is in question. Some think it only means vape cartridges, others are saying it means everything, it just has to be prepackaged.

So some stores will sell you wax or shatter, some won't. I rarely dab and can't handle the edibles, so it doesn't really affect me, but I wish they'd be a bit more liberal and consistent regarding recreational use.

I haven't been in WA recreational stores. I've been going to medical dispensaries but in WA state a dose is 10 mg THC which is pretty low. I need something higher so I make edibles.

The medical dispensaries sell products that are pretty high in THC, they have been selling homemade products that are 100 - 200 mg ThC Come July 2016 things will be changing. Everything will be prepackaged with low doses just like OR. Not sure what medical cannabis will look like? There are many unknowns.

Several of the medical dispensaries that I have been going to will be closing. People have started to get worried. Many pro cannabis folks were hoping that the legislature would fix some of medical cannabis rules to make it easier for patients. Nothing happened in the 2016 season. We are hoping during the 2017 some of the medical cannabis rules will be adjusted and not quite so rigid.

Eventually they are gonna get this legalization thing ironed out and stop panicking about cannabis. But meanwhile the markets are supplying cannabis products which are not terribly well-regulated for pesticides and chemical additives but regulated and taxed to death on the sales end. If you live in a place that allows you to do so, growing a few plants is a very good solution. The process produces lots of leaves and trim which are so-so for vaping but perfect for making hash and edibles.

I recommend a couple books:

Okay, a little more info. I walked down to the local store and was able to procure 1gm of wax (Jager BHO) and an 1/8th of flower (White Widow).

IANAL, so be warned, the following is my limited research and counter talk at a recreational store: The concentrate law is silly, it seems that you can buy up to 1gm but it has to be in a container. You can only buy 1 container. The gal at the store said that they had a few 0.5gm wax in containers thinking the law was 1gm total, so they could sell 1 customer 2 strains. Nope, 1gm maximum, AND 1 container per visit. Stupid.

But fuck it, I can grow 4 plants, have 8 ounces at home, and carry around an ounce and give it to a friend. Kind of like alcohol. I can have 8 12oz beers at home, carry around 1 bottle of vodka, and buy a friend two drinks per evening. I love law, it makes life so simple.

@CarolKing I've noted a lot of your posts the past year and yes, you guys are getting fucked over up there. I've never been into the medical scene, only black market up until Novemeber, 2015, but my respect for the medical community that laid the groundwork for legalization. Thank you. But now it seems you guys need to start yelling louder, and that is unfortunate.

@Gunky earlier this year Oregon placed a ban on, and testing for, a range of pesticides. I'm not a chemist, but a chemist friend of mine said it was good legislation.. I trust him.

Does he have product in current stores, where?

P.S. What parts of OR would be good for a vacation with interesting sites AND great mj stores??

The Oregon coastline is absolutely beautiful, with its large rock formations in the water. The cascade mountains come right to the edge by the ocean. They have wonderful lighthouses dotted all along the coastline. I would assume that there are cannabis shops around too not far away.

We are leaving in a couple weeks to go on our trip. We are going down the OR and CA coastline, can't wait. Taking the RV along with my vaporizers. I want to sample some of that OR bud too.

I would like to go to the Grand Canyon not sure where we will end up.

I lived in OR for 6 years or so in the 90s before moving back home and I regretted not staying long before this. Boy I wish I'd had a crystal ball back then; had you told me it was going to happen within 20 years I would have laughed. But I didn't expect medical either which has been the major key to all this quick change; High Times back in the late 80s sure wasn't talking about it. Also I got arrested and kicked out of college in Portland for over an ounce of freaking leaf, so... (because I didn't know how much it weighed nor specifics of the law, frankly...under an ounce just an infraction even then and I also never got convicted thanks to a first time possession offender program tho they have now expunged all cannabis cases as well).

MEDFORD — Medical marijuana growers and patients alike slammed the Oregon Health Authority during a packed forum Wednesday, saying they were blindsided by dozens of new rules they fear will threaten the industry.

"How is our community going to take this as anything but a coup to get rid of the OMMP?" said Michael Johnson of Williams, referring to the Oregon Medical Marijuana Program.

The meeting at the Medford library was held by state health officials to gather input on proposed rules for limited recreational sales at medical dispensaries, and proposed rules for the broader medical marijuana industry — most turned out to comment on the latter. Similar meetings were held in Eugene, Portland and Bend over the past week.

Unlike other places, the turnout for the Medford event was packed — so crowded, in fact, that it delayed the start for nearly an hour.

About 150 people filled the library's conference room, some holding signs reading "leave medical marijuana alone." Others fanned themselves as the room grew hot and stuffy. Dozens more stood outside in the hallway, waiting for someone to leave so they could be let in.

Before the meeting even started, Kit Doyle, owner of Nature Scripts medical marijuana dispensary in Murphy, stood at the front of the room and faced the crowd.

"I'd like to give my testimony," he shouted, holding up a thick printout of the new rules, which are 100 pages long. "Scrap the whole thing … It'll kill people."

Several speakers echoed Doyle, saying the rule changes would hurt patients.
Shayne Christen, of Williams, grew emotional when he told state health officials that he was able to switch from opioids to medical marijuana to treat his ailments.

"I put down 20 years of hydrocodone for this plant," he said through tears. "I hope you hear me."

The rules that drew the strongest opposition included new water-rights requirements and a mandate that medical marijuana growers implement expensive security measures such as surveillance cameras, motion detectors and video archiving equipment.

Cedar Grey, board president for the Oregon SunGrown Growers' Guild, a collective based in Williams that represents the interests of medical marijuana growers, argued that the medical marijuana industry is now facing many of the same rules as the recreational pot industry, which is regulated by the Oregon Liquor Control Commission.

"This is ridiculous, this is for the OLCC, a commercial system … I don't see any other medicine being treated this way," he said.

Several speakers highlighted a clause in Measure 91 — the voter initiative legalizing recreational marijuana in Oregon — that states the measure would not "amend or affect in any way the Oregon Medical Marijuana Act."

Christine Perala Gardiner, a farmer and a medical marijuana patient who sits on the Josephine County Rural Planning Commission, said to loud applause, "You have no authority to change the OMMP program. The voters have made this clear."

She said the proposed rule changes amount to "economic warfare." Others said the cost of complying with the rules could force small growers to shut down.

The public comment period on the rules ends Friday at 5 p.m. If approved, the regulations would take effect on March 1.

The huge crowd at Wednesday's meeting trumped the turnout at the other recent hearings. OMMP Program Manager Andre Ourso said about 80 people turned out for the Portland meeting and just a couple dozen in Eugene.

Perala Gardiner, who spoke at the meeting, and her husband, Cave Junction City Councilor John Gardiner, are planning to hold a follow-up meeting on the proposed rules on Sunday at 5 p.m. at the county building at 222 W. Lister St. in Cave Junction.

"This is a really big deal and the only way we're going to survive it economically is if we stand together," Perala Gardiner said.

Her husband continued, "This is basically life-threatening, and our response needs to be commensurate with that."

I am not a medical patient, but I do live in Oregon. Haven't heard anything about recreational laws/regulations adversely affecting medical users in the past couple of months.

WHEN OREGON legalized cannabis last year, one of the expected benefits to our state economy was a wave of curious tourists, escaping the tyranny of canna prohibition in far less enlightened places such as Texas, Florida, and about 30 other states.

But we haven’t exactly opened our arms to those seeking to swoop in and try what is arguably our most sought-after agricultural product. (Not you, hazelnuts.)
