Portlander here.
So today was a pretty cool day. Last week I planned on taking off from work early, deciding to hit the local medical dispensary a few blocks from my house. Checked their menu, did some research on their supply, and decided I'd get 7 grams of Green Crack, never tried it before and that is the current limit you can buy in a day until they open up dedicated recreational shops next year.
Got home at 2:30pm, walked a few blocks anticipating a line, and it wasn't bad at all. I was in and out in under 10 minutes.. and that was with idle chit chat about the prices being higher than on their website. So yeah, I'm pretty fucking happy, I just purchased cannabis.. legally.. for recreational use.
Lately, I'm a strain collector and my goal is to have 20-30 before the year is out. This new business of pulling into a store and selecting what I want from 20-60 different strains is going to be epic.
Another cool plus for today is the access to clones. Everyone's growing out here, even non consumers. It's weird, a lot of green thumbs. With the 4 plant/8 ounce household limit, we're going to see a lot of trading going on.. er, I mean "gifting." I think it is going to be a barter good shortly, although I didn't say that on the innerwebs.
Pricing wise is not bad, equivalent to the older black market prices of $10-12 grams. Lately, $5-7 grams have been pretty common in Oregon, so I did pay twice as much today as I would have from "bob down the street." But no big deal, it is worth it for the variety and chemical testing. If pricing doesn't come down in the next few months, yeah, a lot of us will be scofflaws or simply grow our favorite strains, but now we can also window shop those hard to find strains and pick up a few grams. Fuck yeah.
So if you're reading this from outside of Oregon, fight for this. We did it here, you can do it there and all that. I know very well the nature of quality cannabis that is born in Oregon & Washington. I want to see what Kentucky has to offer. And the Dakota's and Carolina's. Fight for this.
Lastly, that Green Crack is pretty fucking good. I'm high and wondering how I typed all of that.
Edit:
@Bravesst, it's Oregonians, not Oregonees. And if you decide to move here, I'll fill you in on how to say Willamette and Couch Street.
