Might start seeing some crazy sales this week as dispensaries are forced to move product in "illegal" packaging as of October 1st. The new requirement requires child proof containers and different labeling. More research is needed on my part.

Products in liquor stores are not childproof. This makes no sense. i missed your post so missed the sales. They might put it off 30 days according to the article.

In WA state we lost some mom and pop bakeries that made medicated edibles that were put out of business. With all the rules it made it difficult for many.
I am seeing large companies rather than local bakeries selling edibles and it's expensive. Everything is packaged. A serving is only 10mgs. I would need 12 servings with my tolerance. 10 mg would be for someone that never used cannabis.
But we are all different.

Ot but how about taking some high quality concentrate like shatter, then melting/diluting it into a potent confectioner's glaze, and then drizzle it on whatever baked treat meets your fancy? It would be expensive, but that's the price of admission for high potency and you wouldn't have to eat the mass-produced crap.

Portland Votes To Allow Legal Marijuana Delivery Services
Portland, Oregon voted last night and approved what I think is a first of its kind policy change. Whereas marijuana delivery services have been operating in Portland for awhile now similar to services in California, they are now going to be 100% legal, assuming all of their other licensing is in a row.

I am hoping I found the right thread. I am planning my trip to Oregon and I am now really disappointed in the selection for recreational use. My last visit was in July 2015, right when everything went legal but I wasn't able to buy yet. So now I guess I missed out since all the laws have passed and everything is restricted. I was unaware of this change until this week. 15 mg edibles is ridiculous, I'd have to eat 4 just to get a buzz. I wish I knew some MMJ patients but unfortunately I do not. Does anybody have any suggestions? I will have a car and will be very mobile. I am planning on being in the following areas if anyone can recommend something: Portland, Columbia River Gorge (may drive back on WA), Corvallis/Lebanon area, and The coast from Newport to Lincoln City.

You might need to go over the boarder to WA state like Vancouver, WA. They are right on 1-5. I know there are several cannabis shops there. @macbill lives there he may have some fav shops.
Eventually OR will have things worked out. I saw they had 257 licenses that they have issued so far. They will be issuing more. Not sure how many stores are up and running? Vancouver isn't that far from Portland. Good luck.

I'm in the suburbs on the west side of Portland. Only been to my favorite dispensary once since 1st of year when rec shops required Liquor Commision licensing which has thrown a wrench in things. Anyway, I got plenty of bud to last me through the snowstorm but that's all I wanted.
I thought I read edibles max THC dosage per unit is 15mg but can buy multiple units (up to 50mg total??) per visit? There's nothing that tracks visits to multiple dispensaries AFIK.

Thank you, I will watching the OLCC website to see what's open and legal before my trip. I will also be looking into the shops in Vancouver. If you know of specific shops I should visit (or ones to stay away from.) That would be great.Off to google I go.

The only thing I notice missing right now in the Portland area is concentrates. I am so glad I stocked up.
Lots of good dispensaries in the area. My recommendation is to use Leafly and call the dispensary before you go to make sure their menu is accurate. I have not gone to Vancouver as it has not been necessary yet.

I'm west of Hwy 217 and shop at Growing Releaf located between Canyon Rd and Beaverton-Hillsdale Hwy. I check their menu regularly on Leafly but I only look at the flower listing, so I'm no help

Main Street Marijuana in Vancouver is the go to place for my friends up in Washington. I was there once a few years ago, wasn't my thing, but again, my friends will tell you otherwise. There is another one, but the name escapes me. I will find out tomorrow for you.
Hello other Portlanders.. I'm in Sellwood and the place down the street from me is pretty good (most of the time), Green Oasis. I also hit up New Amsterdam on Macadam/Nevada. Pricey, but VERY good selection of mostly mid to top shelf, and you can pick your buds.
And as I understand it, most places can sell by the ounce now. This is great. Since recreational was legalized I've purchased over 80 strains by the 1/8 and 1/4. Now that I know what I like, the next time I see it I'm going to buy an ounce.
Enjoy your trip @QuittingVegas, I think you are going to be pleasantly surprised by our selection (flower that is, I don't do edibles and a gram of wax will last me a few months).

Thanks for the imput everyone. Flowers were my main concern for the trip so I plan on having a great time. I guess my comment before was really inaccurate. I have only recently ventured into edibles. My current stash is 60mg so I figured out I'm currently dosing at 15mg since I cut it in 1/4. It's still a shock but won't spoil the plans. WA is only 20 minutes away so I'll make the trip if needed

My advice:
Procure your flower in Portland, greater selection of dispensaries and we all can give you some names.
Take the Historic Columbia River Highway out to the gorge, then come back on the 84 (Oregon side) or better yet, the 14 (Washington side) (or even super better yet, hit the roads around Mt. Saint Helens on the way back, snow level permitting).
Historic Columbia River Highway is fun in a sports car/sedan of some type, so upgrade the rental for that stretch. Plan for some hiking if you can.. take a left at the top of Multinomah Falls for about a quarter mile for an awesome Pacific Northwest oasis, vape a bowl, then head over to the top of the falls. Easy, cool experience.
The coast is its own thing, but if you're into mingling with the locals at dive bars, Newport has a few that are worth it.
EDIT: I noticed you're heading south to Corvallis (great town). Google Silver Falls if you haven't been there, it will be slightly out of the way to the east. 3 hour slow and flat hike/walk that has 21 waterfalls. Amazing day trip.
TLDR; Stock up on flower in Portland, wander the random roads in the gorge and at the coast.

@nihil excellent suggestions, thank you. My last visit I did a quick trip to Silver Falls, only did the south falls but it was beautiful. Multnomah Falls is #1 on the list of to-do. I have an entire day planned at the gorge as I am going on my 2nd waterfall finding adventure. I was debating Mt St Helens but I wasn't sure if the roads will be open at the time of my visit (Mid-March)
