Opinion on this Blueberry Wax?

Hello. I am pretty new to concentrates and all that so I'm still in the process of learning what is good and what is not.

Here is a gram of Blueberry Wax I just picked up.

It is very soft to the touch and pliable. However, the color worries me. I had always thought that good wax had a yellowish hue to it? Or are there other kinds of concentrate that turns out like this?

Edit: Here's a better look at the inside. Upon inspection, it turns out that the inside of the wax was pretty green.

Thanks guys!

It's wax. Wax is whipped, more air added, so it oxidizes. As in, breaks down and isn't so see-through.

The green look on it... green? Where the fuck did you get that??? I would take it back and ask for my money back. That's NOT "good" oil by my standards...

This is what I would consider "good" oil to be. Clean enough that I could read through it if I put the container on top of a page.

Your stuff looks like it was made with trim, unfortunately... Like I said, see if you can get your money back and invest in something a bit better.

Sigh.. T_T
The clinic is closed now and I'm leaving the city at dawn, before it opens again. Oh well.
I suppose it's still smokeable.. better than nothing for a 6 hour drive haha.
I guess I get what I paid for.. $30 for a gram of this stuff.

Thanks!

that looks very strange to me...then again, the price you paid is on the low-side. But still, green? :uhoh:

IMO, good concentrate isnt only transparent. Ive had some green crack wax that looked a similar color and was great. Nothing wrong with it being made from trim, most concentrates are.

The texture however, does make me question its quality. ive heard of wax of this texture refered to as "butane soup", as this texture is usually (not always) a sign of being under purged. Theres a chance wax of this texture wasnt vacuum purged at all. Some places used a double boiler method, and some let it sit after extraction till it dries out.

When i get questionable hashes, i do this test to check for the presence of butane: take a tiny dab on your dabber and melt it with the torch. If you see any flames or a sputter of sparks, theres too much butane.

As a general rule when purchasing waxes, i typically go for lighter color, drier texture and sweet smell.

Stay high.

Green is generally bad. Typically means excessive chlorophyll, often because a process best suited for buds was used on trim. It will typically taste bad. Also, I avoid the whipped stuff. It traps oxygen and moisture in the errl, and many are ztarting to say it also crystallizes some of the non-polar waxes, which you're body cannot process.

I do have to disagree with everyone about the best needing to be transparent, though. This is a good rule of thumb, particularly when dealing with a dispensary, but is not wholly accurate. Some of the best oils I have had in terms of high have been dark oils. Dark, but with no hint of green. Also, I have seen shatter that was pale yellow darken from heat and pressure. I think the darker oils grab a better profile of the cannabinoids, at least when made with a semi polar solvent.

Any way man, as long as it is purged you shouldn't really worry about smoking/vaping it. Once the solvent is gone, the only ingredient is weed.

wow i have never seen green color wax before lol. like you stated i have always thought the lighter the color the better, but in some experiences that wasnt always true lol.

Did the 'clinic' state or claim the type of extraction it is ? bho, ISO, water, etc ?

I've never ever seen anything that color green before, and if I did I would consider it (personally) one that had sat suspended too long enough to extract heavy chlorophyll. However, that is a very strange 'tone' of green

Ive heard co2 extraction can produce a dark green color. I'd still guess it was low grade trim ran with butane and then whipped, though. The question is how does it taste? If gross then butane, but if it has a nice flavors possibly co2, maybe?

Norsocal said he was new to oil, so I guess it would be hard for him to tell based on flavor. But I think most us heads know that flavor of bho ran from poor materials, maybe not the lucky ones, and I have heard co2 can look funky but taste great. Not really sure what my point is, time for a dab...

Maybe bho soak in a flask/thermos method could pull that green (although I don't think so), but even spraying low grade ground trim (in desperate times) has never produced anything like that for me.

I've never had the opportunity to try co2 oil, only co2 (dry ice) kief extraction, so don't know about that one.

All the CO2 oil I've had isn't waxy, but runny/viscous. It also comes out reddish or dark dark orange, so dark it can't be seen through. Then again I get it packaged in syringes already from a disp. and it was from a company that specializes in making it.

Yeah, it is a weird color for sure. Looking back at the pic, you def have a point, I haven't seen that color. Not with iso or cold water or butane. Maybe a poor brand of butane, or some weird solvent that most wouldn't use? Maybe it was a strain thing?

I haven't tried super critical oil either, but this does fit a description I was given by some one. He said it would be a weird green unless he ran the supercritical with some kind of co-solvent.

Co2 comes in an orange/green/reddish color. This is some white widow/chem dog that is the consistency of whipped cream. Fresh out of the extractor and stable in this consistency to 80*. The darker chunk to the right is a piece of the cream that was in a vac oven. The flavor varies between the two greatly.

OT: that wax from the original post is the victim of crappy outdoor trim swimming in a big bowl of butane being whipped on too high of heat. Think of ISO and QWISO methods.....
