Yeah so I thought it might be worth having a thread to post links to any random streaming/downloadable video that's good for watching while medicated. So whether they're short, amusing clips or feature-length docos, bring em on. Might be good to post approximate lengths though.

Here's a couple to begin with:

First is an old talk by journalist/author/USC Berkley professor Michael Pollan:

Not visually exciting, just a talk in a lecture theatre, but he covers some very interesting territory, like possible biological reasons why cannabis, and other plants, get you high. And don't let his combover :uhoh: put you off - in the 7 or so years since this talk he has thankfully done away with it. :D

Heh I haven't posted again in this thread since you posted that link Jeff. Yeah that doc was a good one, but the whole site (topdocumentaryfilms.com isn't half bad either.

No actual video being hosted, just embedded from third-party sites, gathered together and categorized, with summaries and user comments. Pretty simple system, and works well, and it's kept me returning for the past couple of months.

But anyway, here's a couple of great series (not on TDF.com):

Both series are about a group of 5 tribesmen from the island of Tanna, Vanuatu, in the South Pacific, who travel to the West and stay with various families of locals to learn about their way of life.

When at home, these guys rarely use money, wear only traditional clothing (penis sheaths, while the women wear grass skirts) and live according to their ancestral belief systems. They also consider themselves as the happiest people in the world, and it'd be difficult to argue against that claim.

In the original series the destination is England, while in the second one it's (obviously) the USA. I found both series both enormously entertaining as well as thought-provoking, which is a rare thing. The video quality is nice too.

The one thing that makes them slightly less watchable is the fact that they're uploaded in 10 minute clips which don't have that automatic linking thing, so to proceed to each successive clip you have click the link manually. But the correct link pops up straight away, so it's not really an issue.

The 1970 Magic Roundabout film, Dougal and the Blue Cat. (English version).
This has always been a favourite, even long before I understood the humour. Funny, colourful. although, apparently a friend of mind kind of went mad after I got him to watch this whilst shrooming at someone's house… you shouldn't be in a house on mushrooms.

Anyway, this is great. Enjoy! and anyone unfotunate enough to only be familiar with the modern CGI Magic Roundabout, this is VERY different!
that new stuff was hideous.

1 hour and 18 minutes in length. (if you want to get serious then download it and slow down by 4 percent to get escape PAL speedup. fuck PAL!)
