On Demand Convection Portables

I'm currently following these on demand convection portable vapes:

Milaana
Firefly 2
Firewood v4 (September?)

Are there any other non butane vapes in this category worth considering? I guess there's also the Grasshopper, but the wait on that seems too long.

Also welcome any comments and/or comparisons on the above mentioned units.

Just so Dab HAppy!
Still too soon to say much but further out is the Haze Square. There is also the ESV which is supposed to be releasing an upgraded version that Indica worked with IpuffUSA on. Dan Morrison is working on something as well but that could be a year or so out and is going to be a small batch production I believe. The Apollo is another good one that will have a 2.0 version coming out very soon that will get it closer to being on-demand as right now it has a heat up time that puts it out of the on-demand category. Check out the "Project" thread as well.

Flashvape (stage 2) is one often overlooked.

But in all honesty, I wouldn't look past the Milaana. Good performing convection portable with many 'improvement' options being worked on.

I wouldn't consider the FV stage 2 to be a convection device. It's a decent unit to be sure, but not a convection vape.

I might have my units confused, but isn't the stage 2 the one with internal setup of heater screen, screen, ceramic spacer, then screen (product being on this side of the setup)?

Mine was this setup and I never considered it conduction.

I don't consider it to be a conduction unit either. I made a video a while back demonstrating how it uses thermal radiation to generate vapor. I know it's a controversial topic for some, but I think the FV provides an excellent example of how IR (thermal) radiation works in our favorite devices.

If God is the answer, then the question is wrong

Very nice video, if you didn't already, you should create a youtube channel!

Re-educational channel could be a nice name :)

@nondarb : excepted for the very first hit which is about 1 or 2 seconds faster to produce vapor, I don't find the Project to be faster than my Milaana. I need to take longer hits from the Project to get the same amount of vapor, as well as drawing more slowly.

Maybe you got a rather cold running Mi?

Im fairly certain of it actually, shame as my preference is definitely in the other direction.

Another variable is familiarity with the project and your mod, mines up to full temp in 1.8 seconds. The mi has the traditional stoking type convection first few seconds getting everything going where as the project puts out near instant, your comment on the same amount of vapor seems reasonable since once you get mi warmed up shes got a good bit of inertia. I suppose thats what holds it back from the ridiculous speeds of the project, that and it runs around 30w less than im currently running my project on. A blessing and a curse.

I don't think you should be put off by the grasshopper wait time. I expect that window will be narrowing. I just got mine and it's great! Love it!
