Discontinued Omicron Vaporizer for oils

Do the Omicron LITE and Ophos have the exact same threading? More specifically, if I order the Omicron LITE, will the Ti KISS that comes with it be perfectly compatible with the Ophos I already have?

I wanted to make sure just in case I want to go back to the Ophos, and if you order the Ti KISS by itself they ask what model you have.

yes it will but the ophos will have a little bit of under threading showing so it will not be very pretty. it will be totally functional though!

quick question.. i just purchased an omicron waiting for it to come in the mail and I'm looking at the different attachments and is it worth it to get the hercules sr-74 3.7 or does it only work with the persei

The flashing will get faster as the charge progresses. Eventually mine stays green

Mine was still flashing for almost 1 1/2 hours. Was on the charger for 3 1/2 total hours total when I pulled the battery. The battery seems to be working just fine, though. I may put it back on the charger when I go to bed tonight, and see if it's solid green when I wake up.

If the Omicron has a "HVD" and number on the top opposite the button than it can be used at 7.4v with The Core. Some have had success with 3.7v and the Herc but I use it with 7.4v. @Mynameismud may have some more insight on Hercules with 3.7v.

Personally, i love the 3.7V black rod hercules. With the 7.4V white rod (all my experience is with sr71 not the new 74 with titanium and lower power 7.4V rod so things might have changed) but anyway with 7.4V if you dont keep it completely filled with oil or hold the button for too long it is very easy to burn the oil and then the burnt taste usually lingers until you refill it a bunch of time or clean and refill it. It is also leaks easily if you dont store it on side and cool down properly.

With the black rod 3.7V you get nothing but amazing tasting vapor. At least twice as tasty as a nail with a carb cap. By far the tastiest method i have ever used for oil. And you still get clouds. On a scale of 1-10 if the white rod 7.4V clouds are a 10 i would say the 3.7V black rod is about a 8.5-9. So you dont lose much and still get the best taste ever. You can also use it on an SS tube with 1 18350 which cuts the length in half (not really an issue in this thread but a valid point none the less) and battery life is off the charts. Oh and oil lasts at least twice as long.

That being said it takes about an extra 5-10 seconds to prime/pre heat it up and you need a little more of a technique to get the good results ive described. Most people get too frustrated especially coming from the white rod and/or dont follow my steps(listed a few time in persei thread).

Again though, this is coming from an SR71 with steel coils. The new titanium coils require longer heating times and the new white rod has reduced power so i dont know if the difference between the rods is still as dramatic. And i also dont know how the black rod at 3.7V will handle with the new titanium rods so if you do get a black rod i would suggest also getting the steel coils as well and cut them in half maybe a little smaller than half.

If anyone does need help feel free to pm me

Question... youre talking about an Omicron Lite or a regular Omicron? I guess what im asking is if youre using a USB cable to charge? And if so whats the other end plugged into? Wall socket? PC/laptop? Phone charger?

@nao12000 iIRC G said they units should cut power to the charge once the battery is topped off to over overcharging... IDK if this applies to the Ophos/Omi-Lite though.

It's a regular Omicron that uses a separate battery and a wall charger.

It should cut the power when completely charging, however Ive no idea if the stock Persei charger does this for certain or not (maybe someone like @OF knows? ...or maybe @nao12000 can ask G for us?). Regardless, I use one of these:

http://www.amazon.com/Nitecore-IntelliCharger-i4-Battery-Charger/dp/B005UAI372

They also make a less expensive 2 slot version:

http://www.amazon.com/NiteCore-IntelliCharger-i2-Charger-charging/dp/B009JMDD9U

They do a bang up job of rapidly charging all my batteries, it accommodates all sort of types/sizes, and it adjusts the charge rate from full blast to completely off depending on the charge status ("fullness") of each individual battery. Plus it has individual incremental charge indicatiors for each battery slot which is always nice.

That being said, I used the stock Persei charger for quite a while without ill effect on my batteries, and Id leave those in there overnight and longer.

Also the stock charging unit isnt the greatest quality, ans you may be able to tell. You may want to try taking the batteries out and putting them back in a few times, as well as wiggling them around inside the charger to make sure you get getting a proper reading. I remember my stock charger would give false redlights on fully charged batteries if they werent in there JUST right.

Thanks @Caligula I'm going to charge it up one more time before my surgery next week. I'm also thinking about picking up another battery, but not sure yet.

I like to hot swap two batteries. That way I have one in the charger while the other is being used. Ive been without a batter whilst charging before and it sucks. ALso if you get a new one, the "AW" branded units are typically your best bet. IIRC, G sells those on his site but you can get them on Amazon, etc. Just make sure to get the right ones and beware of counterfeits.

yes you are correct per G the standard chargers do stop charging when full but he doesnt like to leave any batteries unattended for long periods. so you are probably ok to charge while you sleep @Vicki

I've never even tried the original cartridge, and I may not ever use it. I really like the KISS cart, and the ceramic wick.

Oh I'm sorry to hear that. I dont think W9 warranties the original carts even for DOA. I may be wrong? Maybe @nao12000 can elaborate?

Also I think the site changed, I cant find the submit ticket feature either...
