Yeah, me too. I had the same reaction to this as I had to 911, possibly even a bit stronger.

I remember during 911 I was shocked, angered, saddened etc. But it didnt affect me NEARLY as much as this. I guess the mere fact that this appeared to be targeted towards children directly. 911 (IMO) was an attack on Americans as a 'whole' because of what the towers symbolized. This just felt different... So much more personal. So much more directed to elicit that response that everybody is going to feel.

For the first time (in a long time) tears were a flowing from me. And well for the first time (first time) it was for total strangers whom I have never met.

If you read some of the stories that are coming out about the heroism of some who went to great lengths to protect their children, it doesnt take away that pain, but it does make it a bit easier to digest.
One that stood out was this one lady who hid her children in the closets and cabinets when she heard the shots. The gunman came to her classroom and she told them they were in the gym. He shot and killed her and then moved on. How many lives did she save in that quick instance? That act of selflessness should be the headlines - not the act of selfishness of this PoS who did this crap.

She was hot as chit too... Sorry just so many futures ruined that day you gotta ask why? Whats to learn from things like this?

Ya know, I was just thinkin'. Why is it that this particular event has many of us in tears and our whole nation is up in arms about this, but yet, we don't shed these kinds of tears for all of the kids that are killed by our drone attacks in Pakistan, by kids killed in Gaza by Israeli air strikes, by suicide bombers attacking Israel, by all the kids killed in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, kids that were killed in Viet Nam or Sarajevo, etc, etc. The children dying of starvation in Africa. These young children killed in these places are no less innocent, no less valuable. Are they less worthy of our tears than the kids killed in Connecticut simply because they don't share our nationality, our ethnicity, our religion?

We really need to put these things in perspective. To me, it matters not if children are killed in a classroom in the US, or in a war torn nation or die from starvation on the African planes. They are STILL children, regardless of the circumstances, and they ALL deserve some of our tears.........and action, regardless where or how they perish.

The difference is......... one group was killed by an individual mental case, the others were accounted for as a casualty of war by a group of mental cases with an official title and power.
