Official Dream Car Thread.

I figured I would create this thread for gearheads and dreamers to drool over. Please Advise: "Point A to B'ers" need not reply! Example: Someone who can't apreciate the beauty involved in designing and building a drivable work of art and preformance. Anyone who can't apreciate a good car for its flowing lines, excellent build quality, and exciting, roadworthy preformance.

The idea behind this thread is to post which is your absolute dream car, this has to be a car which you would want to drive every day (not some garage queen), price is of no object and I encourage you to pick something you have no chance in hell of ever owning, could be a new car or a classic, sports car or luxury, etc.

I will start by choosing my favorite car to date, the Koenigsegg CCX, this car is an engineering marvel with the aesthetics to keep you hypnotized for a lifetime. I had the rare opportunity to see one of these beasts in person and the details are amazing, this car is hand built and it really shows, it seems like every part on this car was made to look at, which is different with most manufacturers which have unfinished looking spots anywhere not in direct view, even the bottom of this car oozes quality.

They are built almost entirely of resin impregnated carbon fiber and you may choose whether to have them painted or you can just have a clear coat over bare carbon fiber, they even have the carbon fiber woven in different colors.

All carbon fiber version:

My old 1969 Z-28 Camero. It was the car I loved the most. God that thing was fast.

I had a '72 Pontiac LeMans, navy blue. Fantastic. Hard to fathom that this used to be considered a small car.
My first car was a '65 Chevy Biscayne - very similar to the Impala. Incredibly powerful; again considered a small car back in America's "fulsome" days.

My very first car, except mine was all red. Small block Chevy with a 3sp column stick. Must have taken that engine apart 4 different times. Had 3 2barrels, changed to dual 4's, went to a Duntov solid lifter cam to an Isky roller.........etc etc etc. Lots of fun with that car.

Had it all the way through high school, but ever since I could remember, I always obsessed about owning a 'vette. I used to daydream about it in class, so a year out of high school, I bought my second car from a friend of mine. His father bought for him for his 16th birthday. Fucking rich kid........lol. But I finally had what I dreamed about. Mine was the same color except with black interior and American Mag wheels. 327 fuel injected 4 sp with a 4:56 posi-track rear end. Fuckin' thing tached at 4 grand at 60 mph but it sure as hell got there quick:

The SOCEMA Gregoire - under a streamlined body, it featured the first attempt to utilize a gas turbine instead of a combustion engine.

If I had to choose just one it would have to be the European Audi rs6 v10 tdi avant. It has an all aluminum, twin turbo, v10 that makes over 500 horse and 500ft-lbs of torque. Interior by recaro and Paired with awd and a 6-speed this would be one he'll of a grocery getter. I'm into European wagons and will hopefully own this cars little brother (a4) within a couple of months.

Wow lwien, that is some first car, I could only imagine having that in my High School, would have drove the women crazy.
I also like the old Corvettes, in particular the spit windshield models.

Having a car like this would for sure draw some attention, the way people complain about gas prices, could you imagine the fill up price on that bad boy. The front is so smooth that you can barely notice the headlights.

For another dream car for myself, to accompany my keep my modern super car company, I would have to get some old American Detroit muscle, maybe the Shelby Mustang from the movie Gone in 60 Seconds

It was 4 years old when I bought it. It was in mint condition. I think I paid around 1200 dollars for it. Totaled it 2 years later.

But yeah, when I was in High School, it was just an average car. Lots of guys had 56 and 57 Chevys, 58 Vettes, a few Porsche Speedsters, MGA Twin Cams, Austin Healey 3000's, Triumph TR 3'. Lots of Chevy's, very few Fords, for some odd reason. Grew up right on the outskirts of Beverly Hills. Not upper, upper clase, but upper mid. My car was nice, but nothing special.
But man, had the deepest fire engine red paint job on the planet. No clear coat in those days. I remember waxing it, and the oxidation would turn the waxing clothes red. Such a beauty though. Just like a women, I don't think any guy ever forgets their first car.

I'd gladly take a 2010 Mercedes Benz SL65 AMG Black Series for my dream car.

As for my first car, it was a 2002 ford Mustang. Miss it like crazy but had put way to many miles on it and had more problems that I cared to fix.

While it is called a gas turbine it runs on Kerosine... or jet fuel. Jay Leno owns a gas turbine car and motorcycle. Turbine won (?)and was outlawed from Indy racing.

My first car was a '64 Beetle, 6 volt system (with Niel Young's Harvest stuck in the 8 track)... I've owned 5 beetles. At 6'5" all I needed was a clown suit.

'64 Rambler Classic(<$100) two door with dual ashtrays, and a '66 Mustang ( about $500) rag-top, were probably my favorites.

Dad had a 64 Impala, in that pukey yellow custard color. Of course the '63 was the classic. Or was it '62?

Anybody ever seen the road going beneath their feet through a floor board. Or had a trunk that couldn't hold a dead body? Ahhh, salt de-icing, good thing or bad thing??? As long as we are talking about classics. Oh vacuum lines... and choke pull-offs, ever dribble gas into a carb from the engine compartment while the car was moving down the shoulder of a highway??? It was a AMC Grtemlin of course, and yes, I was the dope... Got it off the highway and into a mall lot, new pump next day...

We might make shitty cars now as a nation, but we have put out some of the most beautiful cars in history IMO

My dream car since I was a boy has been this badboy:

aston-martin-db5.jpg

Goldeneye was the best of the modern James Bond films, and that DB5 race down the Monaco mountains sealed the deal with this car for me.

Although I wouldn't say no to its great-grandson either!

Yup, A classic VW Beetle (Standard - NOT super)
I dont think I would drop it like this one (maybe a little in the front) but the back would be lifted several inches. I would have a custom paint job and a 1776 or 1914 (with an under the deck lid turbo)

Ive owned 2 but both have gone away now :( In fact, I was halfway through restoring my last one... *Sigh* I can still dream cant I?
