Unfortunately
@Vitolo I reviewed a few vaporizers that had a strong plastic smell that never went away
Owning well over 100 vaporizers, and having secured over 200 for community mrmbers... I too have had many units that had odors.
When they have a smell it means they off-gas, period.
Wow! That was certainly an ABSOLUTE response.
I respectfully will disagree. SOME units with aromas MAY off-gas.... period.
I can still detect a faint silicone smell in my Ascent for instance, where most people don't.
This implies that you are still using a unit that is in your mind off-gassing?
I can't say for sure it's the case here
At least you admit that you can'y say for sure.
but if after say 2 charges worth of burn-ins
after 3 or 4 full charges worth of empty burn-ins
Repeated burn-ins without meds in the units are not only discouraged by most manufacturers, but have a basis for avoidance in all heat producing technology. Especially with the mouthpiece off....
It is akin to heating your oven with the door open.
The thermostat signals that temp has not been reached (due to chamber/heater/oven being open).
The oven then never ceases the battle to reach temp, but keeps trying to hit that setting,
By heating this way, it has been my experience that with some units, you are not "burning off odors, but rather you are baking those odors in.
You are also shortening the life of the heater, by "burning off" with the thermostat signaling that temperature was not reached.
I was given this unit because the donor did not like the essence.
I will give it to a patient, who like me can ignore the essence.
The only vaporizer I ever used that had a smell too great for me to continue trying was the "Elevape Smart Vape". It had a smell that others could not detect, but it prevented me from using the unit.
I guess we all have a limit.
6 years ago a big deal was made about Vapir units off-gassing.
The NO2 was target here and on other forums.
A dozen members in that thread that had never seen or tried a unit, pointed fingers chanting "off gassing".... and "do burnoffs with units empty and open."
Vapir had the money to get tests done and certifications made proving both the point about heating units empty, AND about the presence of off gassing. Finally the mob mentality attack on Vapir subsided.
While I detect that there is an essence in the Odin, the essence is not a deal killer for many, and I still think the unit is a good functioning unit for some patients on a budget.
I get monster hits from this unit, and the unit works well.
Tomorrow I will try doing a few hits with the sliding door open to see where that goes.
The flavor does not bother me, and the glass shape is pure... cylindrical rather than the other forms similar vaporizers using a "rear mouthpiece holder" compartment for a glass M.P.
I may try to get some video of this thing too.
I will follow-up on my plans to do a few hits with the back door open (greater air flow), to see if it increases the hit density in any way...and also to get some video up here also.
