Obtaining meds in Georgia

So a very old friend, actually my div officer in the Canadian Navy, now lives in Georgia. He's in his 70s, has ulcerative colitis, and wants to try cannabis to help with his symptoms. Unfortunately UC isn't on the list of covered illnesses in GA. Can anyone suggest alternative options? Mail order? Are there dispensaries or compassion clubs around Savannah?

I haven't lived in the US for awhile now, and wasn't a med pax when I lived there, so wasn't really paying attention. Meanwhile my poor buddy who lives in the US is reading all these success stories, and if he decided to move back to Canada his medical canna costs would be covered by by DVA. But he kinda likes where he is, and it sucks to travel with his illness, so he's a bit stuck.

Thanks in advance for any pointers, suggestions, etc. If any of y'all are coming to the Canada's Wine Country send me a note and I can let you know where a couple of reasonable dispensaries are. The world is getting smaller

Can get CBD in olive or mct oil at cwbotanicals.com, it has minimal thc (whatever is legal for hemp). He'd still have to get his hands on some thc. I'm not sure of the effectiveness of CBD alone for it. I did find an article though -

I don't know of any reputable company in the US that delivers to out of state patients. I'm posting hoping someone will chime in to prove that wrong.

A quick recap - I'd be interested in hearing any options for people in Georgia. In Canada there are 'compassion clubs' in most cities that help people obtain meds. Now that we're on the path to legalization there are dispensaries popping up all over the place. Many will assist you in obtaining a prescription, others just want you to prove you are over 18. So obtaining meds in Canada isn't as much of an issue as it was just 3 years ago.

What options do people in Georgia have? GA has a medical marijuana program, but it's quite restrictive in the list of covered illnesses. Why a gubmint functionary decides which illnesses can be treated with a plant is a whole nuther discussion.

Just wondering, have you tried that company? When I look at their site, it shows $99 for 7mg hemp oil, but the amount CBD isn't listed. (As a contrast I just purchased 1000mg cannabis oil with 700mg CBD for $70 locally). Not trying to be critical, just would hate to see a patient in need waste any money, and that particular company sounds exactly what project cbd was warning against.

@syrupy yep I got the 5000mg bottle and have been pretty happy with it. I use their CBD products along with my medical THC products. They sell them in my dispensary as well, just marked up about 225% ($275 bottle online costs $600 in the shop)

I dont know if this will give anyone comfort with the company, but they are the stanley brothers who developed the charlotte's web strain that's been discussed in the MMJ industry for quite some time.

I emailed them with questions regarding the product I purchased and they were quick to respond.

There are also other cannabanoids in the product. I think my 5000mg CBD oil bottle has over 7500mg of cannabanoids.

Glad to hear the company is working for you. It's difficult to tell just from reading a web site, so feedback like yours is really important to our community. Can you link to that 5000mg bottle, either here or in a PM to me? Also, was there a typo, because I can't figure how you can get 7500mg of anything out of a 5000mg bottle? mg is a measure of weight, isn't it? Sorry if I'm being dense.

bottom line is that in georgia, even for patients legally registered and prescribed for medical legal pot, there is no access. Blackmarket is your friends only option for the foreseeable future.

no person or company can grow, donate, sell nor distribute in any manor- it is illegal on both the state and federal level.

and to your question of reputable legal dispensaries, none will risk their business by transporting across state lines and risk facing off with Feds and the law.

do not pursue this option.

you are correct my friend, it makes absolutely no f'in sense, especially since those two are so close.

IMO, their bet bet may rest with getting a new medial certification. Can they find a cannabis friendly physician to write it up as Crohn's Disease?

The med cannabis laws often make no sense. Here in MN, terminal cancer is not good enough to qualify. Terminal and less than one year to live does not qualify. BUT, terminal AND less than a year to live AND documented serious pain or chronic wasting, and finally....you are allowed in

We need legal everywhere to stop this ultra restricted medical madness.

Your friend can probably call up any Dr and get a big ol bottle of Oxy-killer pills but can't get med cannabis----sad state of affairs

But I'd certainly take CBD oil if it was available. It's a start.

Even if he gets some bud off the street, I'd still supplement with the CBD oil he can get legally, IF he can get a Dr to see that UC is sort of a subset of Crohn's.

Once he has a card, even if it only gets him oil, it still shows that he's tried jumping through the right hoops if he does, bu some strange change, get busted by the fuzz. Which sounds really painful!
