Obama Commutes The Sentence of Drug Dealers

    WASHINGTON — President Obama announced on Monday that he was commuting the sentences of 46 federal drug offenders, more than doubling the number of nonviolent criminals to whom he has granted clemency since taking office.

    “These men and women were not violent criminals, but the overwhelming majority had been sentenced to at least 20 years; 14 of them had been sentenced to life for nonviolent drug offenses, so their punishments didn’t fit the crime,” Mr. Obama said in a video released on the White House Facebook page, in which he is shown signing the commutation letters. “I believe that America, at its heart, is a nation of second chances, and I believe these folks deserve their second chance.”
Not sure if this is a clue with his mindset pertaining to the cannabis law federally?

Good step in the right direction! Lead by example! I hope he doesn't stop at only 46.

He could let a lot of people out of jail, and he could take it off the schedule. Possibly he has that 'parent of teen' thing going on, where the old lady gets after him if he's soft on drugs or something. It's a mystery.

Having admitted to using marijuana earlier in his life, it would be openly hypocritical of him not to pardon. Obama, however, publicly attributes his decision mainly in consideration of the commission of "non-violent" violations of the law, which, in effect, may or may not be throwing a veil over his more central personal convictions and in favor of political and paternal correctness.
