Gear O.pen Vape Cartridges

I'm new to vaporizing and recently tried an O.pen Co2 cartridge in my Omicron, using their new adapter. You get tons of vapor, but I found the vapor to be very harsh. I've used lots of Co2 oils & waxes in my Omicron before this and never found any of them to be harsh. Is there something different in the Co2 medicine used in the O.pen Vape cartridges? I can't find any info on what's actually in the cartridges.

Can anyone help?

Have you tried using the O.pen cartridge with the O.pen battery? Perhaps you would have a better frame of reference depending on how the actual complete set smokes.

Thanks for your reply illiphant. I tried the O.pen using the O.Pen battery and I tried using it with a Trippy Stix battery too. The smoothest vapor came from the Omnicron but all were harsh.

It's most likely cut with glycerine. Is it runny/liquid at room temp? I haven't seen it personally but that's my guess. Co2 should be a jelly consistency and thick enough not to move at room temperature.

The O.pen uses polyethylene glycol to keep it liquid.

The Co2 I have had tested ranges from 40%-65% THC. It has never reached the potency I've seen from BHO tests. Watering down the concentrate with PG isn't going to help those numbers. Do they advertise a potency? I wonder if its listed before or after PG is mixed in.

I would steer clear of something of this nature.

I agree DubCRider. The reason that I got it was for my brother-in-law. This was his first experience with these meds. He was unable to eat anything, so I got him a tincture and the O.pen to test his tolerance to vaping. (He has had real problems with inhalation all his life.) Since he was able to tolerate it I will probably kick him up to an Omicron. Are there any dispensaries in the east bay that carry pre-filled carts? I know HHS has empty, but with young kids in the house we are trying to be more subtle.

I think I'm going to pick up the O.pen vape today from Berkeley Patients Group just to give it a shot. I'm going on a trip tomorrow so i'd rather have something easily vape-able than constantly refilling my gpen. I'll write up a review once I'm back!

Unfortunately it seems that way. I try to steer clear of anything pre-filled but I know the Co2 oil they are using at SPARC and they are not cutting it with PG/VG. If you see a CE4 pre-filled and the concentrate is liquid enough to flow freely, it is most likely cut. If you can flip it upside down and oil comes out in 10sec or less, it is most likely cut. I've never seen a wax of any kind flow like water without heat......

Also, anyone else wanna chime in with their opinions on the Open vape? The clinic in my area doesn't have any deals so I'd be dropped $50 + tax for 1 250mg cart and a battery. Seems like the best quick-fix solution for a road trip so far..

Omicron carts are not hard to fill, you'll be kicking yourself for not getting one earlier. The taste/portability are ON POINT. I was REALLY hesitant at first, much like yourself, but after i finished filling my first cartridge I was thinking "wtf is all the fuss about..."

The O.pen I purchased for a friend has already broken. He dropped it from a sitting level to the floor. Also, from personal experience, the O.pen Vape cartridges put out a huge amount of vapor and will get you high, but they only last a very short time.
IMO, the benefit of the O.Pen Cart is the easy of getting vapor quickly. I would recommend if you like this benefit, that you invest a little more approx. $100 and get a [Trippy Stix] [http://www.rakuten.com/prod/the-tri...-multiple/248806503.html?listingId=281726349].

I purchased mine at Berkeley Patients Group, but you can get them lots of places. The Trippy Stix will work with the O.pen Vape Cartridges and will also allow you to use wax in the included tank.

Overall, I much prefer the Omicron or the Persei ....I recently gave my Omicron to my friend who's O.pen broke and he has a lot more trouble vapping with it vs. the O.pen or Trippy Stix. However, once he masters the learning curve, I think he will be much happier with the Omicron.

I purchased an o.pen the other week, and I am satisfied except for their use of polyethylene glycol. I read that it is toxic to kidneys, is this correct?

Well here is wiki about it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyethylene_glycol It seems to be used both medically and in food, so it is probably ok for short term use. But really, why would you want to is you could avoid it?

I have purchased several of these carts and made my own refills using PEG 400. For the books I own an omicron v2 and a Persei. What can I say, I like variety. Plus these are extremely stealthy. I vape them regularly at the local pub while sitting at the bar. My persei would definitely get me thrown out. I will say the most flavorful hit i have ever taken was from my persei/omicron.

All I can tell ya is the reasons I don't care to try pre-filled cannabis vaporization cartridges:

1. I have not seen any that are dated (fill date), and I'm afraid they are not very good sellers at dispensaries, so shelf-life/potency may be hard to determine.

2. Price. Usually twice the cost of a good oil or decent wax.

3. Taste and indica/sativa subtleties: Okay, I never tried them, but I have read quite a few comments from others saying all "strains" of this stuff taste much the same, and even the indica/sativa types seem alike in high type.

The idea is almost a little too fast-food like for me, but I'm sure you can't match the convenience of snapping in a pre-filled cart and you're Go for liftoff. So take all this from someone who is reverse-vaporizing through his ass as if he has a clue. Curious to know how you like 'em.

I would recommend that you fill the cartridges with your own oils. This was the propolyne glycol and other ingreidients are not in the pre-packed cartridges. I have a buddy who makes his own oils so that he knows exactly what is in them and what is not. I agree with Olympus Mom there is no fill date so who knows how old the stuff is........

Mine has died, sorta.

Never finished the first cartridge, I've drained what's left into my VIP2 vape tank.
Cheap "quality" vape, and very little for what you are paying. The oil tastes like crap, too.
I can thin better oils down with a bit of veggie glycerin, and use them in my VIP2, or I can just dab.

Mass production of anything means lower overall quality. Especially hash oil, apparently.

Sweet mother of jeebus. Just buy an 2.4 ohm Omicron cart and fill it with OL C02 oil that comes in the syringe. It's the same SCF CO2 oil as in the carts except it isn't cut with PG/VG like the prefill Open carts.

FYI these syringes are the best for Omicron and Persei carts. No priming needed... hell you dont even need the fill tool. Plus it's thicker than Pure Gold by a bit so its not prone to leak.

Nature of the beast. Most CO2 extractions have lower potency than BHO and the like. I find though that the Indica versions of the OL CO2 Oil works much better than the sativa versions. If that helps at all.

Yeah, I don't see the syringes break 60% THC content. Like Caligula said, that's just the way CO2 extractions work. On the upside, there is no residual solvent left. They're good if health is absolutely paramount to you, or if there's only dirty/shitty BHO around your area.
