nOOb Q, are weed/hash oils essential?

Hi All

I'm a bit confused by just what manufacturers mean by "Essential oils", in some write ups it sounds like one can vape weed/hash oil in the unit, and in others it sounds like the unit just makes scented oils stink purdy

so witch is it, or is it both? or neither?
