next generation e-nails?

With flat coil nails and the right carb cap I think you would be unlikely to inhale much off-gassing from the coil. Probably non-flat coil nails too, but I have no experience there.

even if america makes their own heater coils itll still be the same material since it should be the best heat conductor/good heat transfer. And it might run over 100$+ just for the coil.

And it's $199 with the nail included.

I just was thinking the same thing. but it is a question of other mystery ingredients that could end up in there besides just nickel and chromium. I would trust usa made coils to be more pure

I was looking this over earlier. It doesn't actually say ANYWHERE that the coils are made in USA. the boxes, yes, the nails, yes, but not the coils.

I would like to call out one thing. All parts are not made equal!!!!!
From the bit of stoned research I did, it looks like some companies use cheaper components and so could be considered sub standard. I mean a quartz nail can be made with all types of cheap shit and in turn will not taste that good and will also weaken over use.
The above can also be said about PID controllers. There is a reason the market has a broad spectrum of choices and it is due to what they use and how good the controller works. For example D nail uses a fairly expensive PID in their new 2.0 unit. This controller holds the temp extremely well and also costs around 200+ us dollars. The reason for the high price is purely because it is a far more solid controller in comparison to others on the market. I guess the point I am trying to make is.

You get what you pay for!!!!

If there were hypothetical off-gassing occurring from either the heating coil or the nail and we were inhaling that shit, would it be high enough even with frequent use to be of a concern for most people? If you live in a city could you be inhaling a year's worth of off-gas toxins during your walk downtown or just hanging around smokers? The oil itself could also help to mitigate harm like it does for weed smoking (Tashkin study). I think it's okay to at least ask the question as long as we don't go all Food Babe over it and blow up the actual risks. Would be nice to get input from someone with a science background in this stuff.

My New-Vape 16-hole domeless e-nail and stainless steel dropdown should be arriving today! I'll post some impressions of it once I've had a chance to try it out.

it seems off gassing of the nickel and chromium only really occurs when the metal is molten.

"Typically, concerns related to hexavalent chromium vapors are valid when the chromium-containing steel is in a molten state, like during welding."

Plus we probably inhale more concentrations of ni and cr off-gassing when we cook our food on the stove

2,651°F (1,455°C)
Nickel, Melting point

3,465°F (1,907°C)
Chromium, Melting point

so at 710° we are good :D Bring on the chinese coils!

hanfhead

is high
Some people heat their houses with electric heat so if there is any off-gassing we probably have been breathing house fulls of the stuff our whole lives already anyway.

oh yeah good point. and in toasters and hairdryers!

on another note my wife sprays this crap on her head which imo is worse than a lifetime of dabbing with a torch.

Ingredients: "Butane, Isobutane. Oryza Sativa (Rice) Starch, Propane, Alcohol Denat, Parfum (fragrance), Coumarin, Eugenol, Limonene, Butylphenyl, Methylpropional, Linalool, Distearyldimonium Chloride"

i told her she could make some mean cherry flavored bho with it! lmfao

Science...Whoo!
I know this has been talked about before...I've been looking at enails for awhile but am still confused on the connectors. I know Dnail uses the XLR 4 pin. I see that Gimido gives the option for a Mini 4 pin and a Mini 5 pin for $10 more. Why would the 5 pin be more and what benefit would it serve. When the coil goes out will this make it harder to replace while paying more at first for no reason? Any help would be awesome. I'm leaning toward Gimido as the price is nice and eventually I need another enail for downstairs I'm sure.

Haha I actually busted out laughing at this. I think you might definitely be right about that. AND she smokes my concentrates to boot lol

I'm quite proud of my glass obsession :)

on that note the divine tribe enail is kicking serious ass right now. Running with the ti nail at 800°. I never used domeless ti nail before. All I had in ti ever was a little guy for a dome rig, and it was used from a friend so it was preseasoned. I never knew the joy of painting color upon your ti nail with a torch. I have mine purple and blue with strips of amber in between the fins. Then threw my enail on it and dawn does it look purdy.

My New-Vape 16-hole 16mm e-nail, 14/10mm female base, dropdown and carb cap arrived Friday and I've started testing. Here's a some initial thoughts:

  • Parts still had machine oil smell/taste, had to clean in ISO first which helped but isn't perfect. IMO, ultrasonic cleaning should be standard in the industry but for some reason SCS doesn't even do it for their nails and they do it for their grinders.
  • After awhile the base does get too warm to pick it up off the joint without protection but not hot enough to cause concern on the joint. The coil is on tight so I'm able to lift it off using heater bar.
  • Nail head can swing right or left but I don't see a situation where this would be useful.
  • Once tightened, everything stays in place as long as you're careful (no sudden movements). Feels more secure than my glass dropdown and I felt better about using it at a friend's place. Everything stays together in one piece and I put the whole thing in my inverted silicone oven mitt when it's cooled down for transport.
  • My SCS Carb cap fits fine and allows more airflow in than the NV one. Not sure which I prefer yet. The SCS one offers the option of screwing the dabber/air intake down to the rim level to direct airflow more towards the centre.
  • Lots of airflow but you need to make sure you pull just fast enough or the vapor will achieve escape velocity and escape into the room.
  • During the hit you can see the vapor sloshing around in a ball in the middle of the nail which is cool.
  • For 14mm male joints, the 14/10mm female base only covers the top half of the joint which means it can come off a bit easier. This can be both good and bad depending on how you view it. Get the 18/14mm female base if you want a more secure fit.
  • I like that I can either dab it in the middle for a slow carbed hit or swirl it around the bowl to vape it quickly.
After using it heavily for the first 12 hours of owning it, I got no reclaim in the catcher and what appeared to be hardened reclaim pooled up against it in the down tube. Not good. The catcher has some small holes for use in their upcoming vape pen I'm guessing so you need to screw it in most of the way to keep them covered. When you do, it blocks any reclaim in the down tube from reaching the catcher. I tried lining up one of the holes with the tube so I'll see if that helps but I'm guessing it will block easily. This can be fixed by redesigning just the catcher but I wonder if the proximity to the coil and it being made from stainless steel will cause any reclaim in the catcher to harden and be rendered useless. I'll check again in a day or two and then contact the company. Seems like it could be a design flaw. I don't really care for reclaim much so for me it's not really an issue for me.

Despite some minor complaints I really like setup overall and it will probably be my main e-nail for the near future. The bowl is deep enough that the bottom is surrounded by the heater and that's the only place it can pool. I've mainly been dabbing at 840F (vs 900F with the OmniNail) but I have a feeling it would do a lot better with low temp dabs. The design is a bit like a titanium VXN if you think about it.

I'll try to get pics of it on my pieces soon as a size comparison, it's really not that big since it's a short dropdown. Due to the added weight it is not stable on the GB-242 or Barrel to Funnel recycler but it's fine on both the FC-710 and D-Cycler.

@BoogerMan You never got around to your review, what are your thoughts after a few weeks of use? Apparently the 20mm is much deeper than the 16mm that I have, while your Gimido coil looks short on yours, mine makes it so that the screw on the head doesn't go all the way in so it's super snug. I can measure it later but I think the coil is the same height as yours. Also any word from New-Vape if their rep got approved yet? I'm looking forward to seeing them here.

Thanks for the awesome and thorough review @Monsoon! Sorry Ive been slacking and haven't said much after my initial post.

I haven't heard back from New-Vape after I emailed them the FC page that discusses how to become a rep. I'm sort of surprised I didn't hear back because we were having a really good back and forth email conversation (probably 10-15 emails were exchanged back and forth) and they seemed very interested. Maybe they got busy and just forgot or maybe they didn't get my last email?

Sorry to hear that the drop down isn't that great as a claim catcher. That's why I wish they would join FC so we could just communicate this stuff to them directly on a thread. Let us know what they say if you send them and email about it. I may also email them again and see if they got my email with the link to the FC rep page (maybe the emailed never got delivered?)

I agree with a lot of what you stated about the nail. Yeah I have the 20mm so it is a bit deeper of a dish which is nice for my friends that like taking larger globs since absolutely no liquified oil gets sucked through the holes like on some other nails they use.

Like you said I think it is great that you can dab around the bowl for a faster vaporization or dab at the bottom where it pools up a bit more and makes the hit vaporize slower. If I dab at the bottom I usually get one nice big hit followed by a couple smaller hits especially if I leave the cap on there the whole time. It's especially fun to drop a ball in there and just cap it then start hitting it because it seems like the hits last forever :D

But I only run mine at 700-725F so I'm sure if I cranked it up to 840 like you have that would definitely eliminate those extra smaller hits that are followed by the initial big one.

I highly recommend this nail because the airflow is absolutely amazing and I love how you can dab two different ways on it. It's definitely a winner in my book. It's great for both tiny dabs and globs!

They've been posting a lot of Con photos to their IG so that probably explains any delay in getting back to you. Maybe send them a little reminder just in case.

Just tried to take the dropdown apart for cleaning again and to check on the reclaim and both the catcher and tube won't unscrew, hard to get good traction on either to get it unscrewed and heating it up didn't help. Just dunked the whole thing in ISO for a couple hours though they're still stuck. Worst case I think I can get by not separating them but that wouldn't be ideal. I was able to look down through the top to see the catcher and no reclaim in there at all so it all must be in the tube and in the threads. I sent them an email and I'll let you all know how it works out.

I'm really loving e-nails so far. It's very easy to test out different temps, I'm now down around 825F. Being able to get repeatable results very time is a huge plus and makes experimenting much easier.

seems like "trippy" coupon code does not seem to work anymore at gimido...... that really sucks.... seems like gimido has warranty repair center in america now, you can send back your enail to CA for any problems now. instead of paying 30-50$ for shipping to china its only going to be around $15 now.

Repair Center
We cannot let our customers wait long time, so we have one repair center in California,USA. If something happened(whatever whthin warranty or not), please send your products to our repair center. Our colleague will repair it and send back soon. If not within warranty, you would pay parts fee(We cannot charge you much). The address is PO Box 285, Chicago Park, CA 95712

does anyone have another coupon code that will work for gimido? at least 15% please.

Got my enail from GIMIDO in on Monday. The cord and coil were vacuum sealed which I thought was kind of odd and when I opened them the worst chemical smell ever filled my room (I think more so if not all from the power cord than the coil) and I got a pretty bad headache so that wasn't cool, but after a few days the smell is completely gone.

The PID isn't the best but it does what I need it to. Over shoots almost every time and if it doesn't it takes longer to reach temp than it would had it overshot and let itself drop down to temp. No big deal to me especially for the price. Heats up to ~1300 no problem. The nail is actually really really nice and I'm pretty convinced it's fully grade 2 titanium, or at least some kind of decent titanium along with the carb cap and dabber. It has changed colors and reacted exactly like my highly educated dual ti and tastes the same too. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a cheap enail for sure.

By the way they updated their site (after I placed my order) to say that shipping would be delayed for future orders...like they should have.

(the female part on the nail in the above picture hasn't changed color like the other parts because in this picture is the first time I have ever used it. I torched the other parts to make sure they all changed the same as all my other ti has.)
