next generation e-nails?

While it's not its main purpose (flowers), the Sublimator could fit in as a nextgen e-nail of sorts. I introduce both the Sub and the E-Nailator to some dabbing buddies and they greatly preferred the Sub for dabbing and double-deckers (flowers and dabs). The dabbing hole is small and acts as the intake hole (there's six) and you dab right next to the heater.

Biggest downside is that the bowl/atomizer gets dirty pretty fast and may require frequent cleanings which wouldn't be necessary with a standard style e-nail. Also the $500 price tag is a bit much and the product is still young and working out the kinks.

Been on the low-temp carb-capped D-nail V1.12 set @ 690F, enough to be just past 672F at the nail head but not leave much in the dish when finished with a long restricted pull. It reminds me of the first time I hit a Volcano, apparently I've been scorching the fuck out of my dabs using the torch :uhoh: Game changer

V2 looks even more compact and totally sick. Love the D. Might pick up a "real" carb cap eventually, but for now I've just been using one of my SS RBA caps that has a 1/16" hole with the exact same OD as the D-nail TI. I cover the drip tip connection with my thumb, gets hot eventually but not before I'm done with the draw. It's hilarious to me because it makes so much sense after dealing with the nuances of Rebuildable Atomizers for vape juice. The real mystery is why the TI brand names who manufacturer carb caps have not made one with Air Flow Control which is a standard feature on all recent high end RBAs. Doesn't take a machining wizard to figure that one out either.

All the HE carb caps are carbed. I too enjoy using carb caps - not at 690 on my enail but a bit higher. I look forward to these new ceramic nails on the way from Hive Ceramics. My only concern is that as we know ceramic, although a great heat conductor it can't be heated unevenly.

In my mind they will work much better with an enail than a torch.

Any btw - an enail actually gets your Ti hotter than a torch. Even after hitting my nail for 30 to 40 seconds at full blast I was only able to get my Ti up to 550 as opposed to running an enail at 800. Even the center of the intake measure 600+ degrees with the coil.

screen update - I recommend the 40 over the 60 (aqualab) the 60 wire is too fine, seems to work better with the 40 wire screens

I'd like to own an e-nail at some point. HE had a lot of problems with theirs and took it off the market, I've seen others but have no idea if they suffer the same problems - what would you say is the best e-nail out there nowadays?
hi guys I'm a newbie here , but here's an idea for anyone looking for a way to buy an e-nail at a reasonable price !!
smart dab has a portable e-nail that can be plugged into a car lighter , the trick is to go to the garmin site and
buy the 110 volt to 12 volt converter !! It's only 17.95 !! Just plug it into a wall outlet then plug the smart dab portable
lighter plug into the garmin converter plug in and away you go !! happy dabbing for a very reasonable price !!
I'm not associated with either of these outfits , I was just looking for a way to get around the $400.00 price !!
$199.00 for the adjustable model smart dab is a lot easier on the wallet IMHO !!

Much much much cheaper:Universal AC to DC Cigarette Lighter Socket Adapter (no Prime, sorry)

Easier on the wallet, but there's got to be a significant compromise or sacrifice in quality, features or operation for that large of a price discrepancy...

What's the other differences between the $400 one and the half-the-price one?

(Wonder if you see what I did thar... on a side note - I know how hard it is to search just for a cigarette lighter that fits in the car socket. You know, like the ones that come in the cars already in the socket? Sure, you could stop by the car parts place and get it, but search Amazon for it online! Sounds stupid, but try it and you'll find everything BUT ;))

Smart-Dabb is designed with your health in mind. The Smart-Dabb uses common household electricity to heat our custom titanium nail. No more torches or carbon monoxide gas to inhale from using bottled gas like butane. No more running out of fuel or burning yourself. Press and hold the power button and our titanium nail is at 700ºF in under one minute! A great temperature to Dabb! We asked thousands of Kush Expo attendees including award winning wax producers to try the Smart-Dabb. The responsewe received was amazing! Everyone that tried our product loved it. The most prevalent comments we received were " you can taste the wax" and "it's smooth".
The Smart-Dabb is made from the finest materials available. Our nail is 100% Titanium. The air passages are made using 304 food grade Stainless Steel. The body of the Smart-Dabb is made from Carbon Fiber and aircraft grade Aluminum. The glass joints we use are all Ground German Joints. The heater we designed is made from food grade Stainless Steel and Titanium. Smart-Dabb comes complete with the power cord, heating unit, 18mm and 14mm female adapter, 18mm and 14mm male adapter, titanium nail and straight sided dome. With 4 different adapters you are sure to find one that is a match to your water pipe.'

Dunno, but that sure sounds like a lot of strange stuff to have in the airpath...:2c: I find the site a bit vague...

What's strange that's in the air path? 304 Stainless Steel is used in quite a few vapes and shouldn't be of a concern. The Carbon Fiber and Aluminum body shouldn't matter either, because from their wording it seems all the air travels through the stainless steel, correct? So really, it seems you have to be ok with using Titanium and 304 Stainless Steel(funny how they don't share the grade of Ti, but share the grade of the SS haha).

I actually commend them for being semi-upfront about the material they are using.

Would you happen to have a link for the website or a picture of this contraption?

If you want a cheap E-Nail my friend is making the analog units for $225 shipped with a dualiti....
THIS IS MY BETA UNIT NOT THE FINAL CONTROLLER DESIGN, just saying.

Does that put the digital at around $350-ish? Less for those who may already have and won't need the Dualiti? Any type of warranty for these units?
Sorry to hammer you with questions.
Thanks.

Funny how simple that device looks! A 120V dimmer, a heating element reminiscent of my electric stove in college, and a really expensive piece of Ti. Dim it down to your temp and dab?

Digital is more than that, a lot more to it. Still have been meaning to go over all the features present in the device. Though you can use the same coil/nail on either setup, I would guess drops it around ~$125.

Last Saturday, saw someone heating up his TI nail (think it was the Duality?) using an Induction heating unit (it was large, plugged into the wall). It was separate, and he would just apply the heating loop to the nail and let it get it extremely hot, then do the regular cool/dab thing.

My hubby and I have discussed induction for recharging a portable vape, but using it for heating a Ti is a great idea (I think).

Understand, I have no personal interest whatsoever in owning one of these. I am, at heart, an engineer, so the DISCUSSION of all this FASCINATES me.

@ogcook has your friend looked into induction? I'm curious.

Wouldn't the sublimator be an even better buy, i.e. it can vape herbs and concentrates?
all depends on preference - I really like my enail because it heats up very quickly, I can specify temps and it has other features. I use either my Herbalizer or EVO for herbs. I did consider the sub but decided that this route would be a better fit for me and I am very happy with my choices :)

If anyone is interested in a cheap analog E-nail, I found one for pretty cheap. I'm still waiting on them to ship but it seems pretty good for the price. They'll be sending it out on 3/24/14 so I'll have to wait till then to write a review. PM me if you want details.
