next generation e-nails?

can anybody familiar with PID devices help me understand what the different values mean and why the Aubers Instruments parameters are different from the Divine Tribe and Terps Nail parameters and why Aubers would give a special manual to change one of the parameters for 20 millimeter 100 watt coil

Edit: my coil is 150 Watts..... Says it right on it. I am going back to all stock settings... This thing works too good!

This is our PID controller. 3rd page talks about what the values mean. Looks like Auber's initial PID values were supposed to be able to handle 100-250W, but needed further modication to better handle 100 watt coils. not sure though. The coil that came with my box is 150watts. I think we could happily stick with the default values.. I've been satisfied so far! Either Aubers or Divine Tribe's values should do the trick. Try em out separately different days let us know what works better!

"For 100W Coil, please set P value to 2.0."
They are talking about a flat coil here remember.. so it doubly doesn't apply.

"The smaller the P value is, the stronger action will be for the same temperature difference between SV and PV."

I interpret this as the 100W coil wasn't heating up to temp efficiently and so lowering the P value allowed the unit to get to temp quicker. with a P of 5 the proportial band is 75C, with P of 2, it is 30. That is how far from the set point will the unit start to taper off heat. With a lower wattage you need smaller P to reach setpoint in reasonable time.

"Too wide = sluggish response. Too small = oscillations." -some random dude referring to proportional band

also that's a flat coil they are talking about..

Not sure who, if anyone, is the right person to field this to, but...

Perhaps it's time E-nails got their own forum section? Perhaps that's too specific, but then at least a section dedicated to dabbing equipment in general, with perhaps sub categories for nails, desk vapes, portables, etc.

It's becoming increasingly harder to find the info I care about most because its somewhere in these information-packed threads. Seems counter-intuitive when we can categorize.

The info is great. I just want easier access to it! :)

Just my two cents.

I wish they made this for barrel coils!

Or maybe I just need to stop bitching and get a flat coil lol :ko:

Make sure to let us know how you like it! I've heard good things
I feel the exact same thing, but trying to stop buying every new toy that pops up every week. Terpz has been working great with my direct injection pukinbeagle 20mm.

But always was curious of the sapphire insert and how it's different from Quartz.

So i got the new dnail Sic nail and it's awesome huge dish! could fit like 2.5gram dabs can go much lower temps than titanium awesome heat retention so very tasty the sapphire dish works awesome too for fullmelt just gotta turn it to about 825 The dish is huge my infiniti dish fits inside it lol also carb capping with my he unti carb cap takes some effort to get a good seal Ill probably end up getting a dnail carb cap that sits inside it but still not a deal breaker in anyway Ill post a milkshot soon overall very happy with this purchase also dcycler is awesome thanks ccg

What's the advantage to using the convection shelf (sapphire disk) over the SiC dish for dabbing?
And I saw the advertisement that it is both conduction and convection, how does convection work on this, because it seems as though we are putting our concentrates on hot plates (conduction). I am really thinking about this nail or just get a HE with sapphire insert. I just want to try and see what the difference between sapphire and Quartz is.

I think I saw a video on YouTube (bubbleman?) where he puts the sapphire disk on top of his pukinbeagle Quartz banger. I'm wondering if that will work with my pukinbeagle direct inject too.

For those using Quartz nails for their enail, I find my pukinbeagle to restrict airflow when reclaim builds at the tip of the direct inject. How do ppl use that reclaim? I want to clear the airflow and dab the reclaim, but I have broken a previous Quartz nail trying to scrape the reclaim at the injection tip. Should I just heat it over a bed of flowers and vape it? Appreciate feedback for a dabbing newb

I heard from 420Titanium and apparently there's been a small production delay with the new Silika Side-Arm e-nails, they'll let me know once they get it in. Cannot wait to try it!

While I do make my own nail products, I've been considering reselling these at a lower price point than my own products, just because they're pretty cool for the money, but figured you'd all like to see if you weren't aware! The RDK-300....

It locks in like it should and has a little push-button release.

I was actually not aware the other one didn't do that? I never actually owned a rdk-200 though.

Yeah, I basically wanted auber to sell me just the controller part of the RDK-200 so I could stick it into a VK-style case and essentially make my own version of this. They wanted me to order some insane amount of units to do it though. I still kind of want to do it some day though, it's right up my ally with the knob and all. I might still consider just re-selling these as a more entry level product for people who don't want to wait for my custom/higher-end stuff.

My 200 does not lock in. None of my coils do. I can pull them all out without pressing the button. Glad to hear they fixed it on the one hand.. on the other, its a nice breakway failsafe.

Sounds like the mechanism might just be damaged on yours. May be as simple as bending it back, or replacing the jack worst case, but if you bought it new and it came like that, they probably would fix it for you I imagine.

My RDK-200 locks the coil to my unit. I just checked.

Edit: I like the look of the 300 though.

Here's a interesting bit of info I found on conduction vs convection
Rather than heating the cannabis matter directly with a heating element, convective vaporization uses an electronic mechanism to heat air. Once the air reaches a certain temperature, the hot air actually heats the cannabis flower and/or concentrate, extracting the THC and turning the material into a vapor without charring the substance.

Of the two types, convective vaporization is the best for your body. The convective method avoids the charring associated with nearly every other method, meaning that convective vaporization creates the purest form of activated, consumable cannabis. edit: also there's a post in the forums on this subject http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/what-are-the-benefits-of-convection-vs-conduction.432/

It's up on their website if you want more details on it:

I much prefer the look of this one over the 200, that one looked kind of cheap especially with the 80's style computer graphics on the front. This one is more stylish and IMO will look better on your table. Auto-power off is something I haven't seen yet in the cheaper e-nails and should be a plus for some people.

I've been thinking about it and I'm pretty sure the only effect of the convection heating is more even heating of the disk. You're still dabbing onto the disk itself which would be conduction. I think you'd see more differences from the properties of the materials themselves on the dab hit compared to convection vs conduction.

Have you noticed any differences in dabbing between on the two different surfaces?

Just having options at this point is nice :D
Auber RDK-300, on their website they say 220v coils avail., I think most of these units have variable voltage input, you need to match the coil to what your input voltage is?

EDIT: BTW I'm F'n loving my Divine Tribe unit! I was able to set a temp differential, so my controller reads actual nail temp, this unit will also self calibrate, I couldn't be happier for the price!, and excellent communication! Thanks again Matt!

My GreenLight e-nail rocks!

I set it at 620 with larger cups and 590 with smaller ones.

I prefrer to dab on the early morning, cause it's quiet (wife and daughter are sleeping) and cause it helps me very well to begin a day. Take 4 or 5 dabs and some flowers bowls, drinking coffee and looking at news, and enjoy my day!

The rest of the day I can't be alone to dab quiet (and not enough time) and , in the evening, I prefer to stay on the sofa to sip my Haze or hit my Hercule (since my e-nail is in my office!).

I'm looking to get a boro/ quartz nail which fit my e-nail, any infos?

I love my terpz enail, but could have saved 30% going with divine tribe. What a great deal Matt. The box looks identical.

It looks like nail and enail companies are moving to larger dishes. The terpz has the 20mm and I love the wide surface area. However, is it more advantageous using a 16mm (or even 10mm) with smaller dabs followed by carb cap than a 20mm?? My thought is NO because I think of cooking a small portion of food in a big oven or small oven, shouldn't it cook the same if the temp is identical?

Any thoughts?

The sic already has very even dish temps without the sapphire and the taste is amazing but I prefer using the sapphire insert because it's healthier for you and taste a little better but not by much. It really shines when your smoking good melts/ bubble and more delicate materials/ For those I'd use the sapphire every time For Bho both taste about the same although the sapphire is very pretty to look at when it's vaping it. I don't think it can be considered conduction since the material is not actually touching the sic dish. Also the sapphire is pretty easy to clean just soak in iso scrape and and stick in infiniti at 950 for 5-10 mins and it looks brand new overall both are great the sapphire is great for hash and the sic taste amazing on it's own.

The disk itself is mostly heated by convection but your dab isn't when you touch it against the disk. Probably more a marketing term than anything else since it shouldn't matter whether the disk is up top or on the very evenly heated SiC dish below. Semantics aside I think it's cool to have two options when dabbing, you end up with a high and low temp option. Is it easy to dab on the SiC dish while the disk is in place? Also have you tried dabbing along the edge of the disk so that it dribbles down onto the the next surface, kinda like a dab fountain?
