Newbie question : Does the Effect of Strains work the Same as for Smoking?

Ok i am still new to vaping so not sure how things work.
My question is related to strains and how vaping strains compared to smoking same.
For example if i am looking for a morning wake and bake does the Sativa effects work vaping in a similar manner as when you smoke a bowl?
Conversely would a deep Indica cause couch lock? I don't want to keep myself up all night by choosing a Sativa right before bed time.

The reason i ask is when i look at the board at a dispensary and they list Concentrates you don't see a Sativa/Hybrid/Indica designation. So just confused on this topic.

It sounds like you are asking specifically about concentrates? We do like vaping concentrates here, but the major of threads are about dry herb vapes, just to let you know. And most of the things you "know" about smoking cannabis still applies.

That being said there is a lot of misinformation about leaf shape and effects. While there are certainly more uplifting strains, indica, sativa, and hybrid are pretty much not sufficient categories to define this. Indica and Sativa describe the appearance, not the effects. And of course all modern strains are hybrids.

Also vaping at different temperatures gives different affects. For example a lot of people I know vape at lower temperature 180C during the day ant higher temp 220C at night.

Strain affects will be the same but stronger imo than with combusting, so sativa will still give you sativa affects and Indica Indica affects but as grass yes says above most are hybrids so.

What you want to do is test out at different temperatures 180C 200C 220C and see how you like things.

Just keep in mind you gave combustion a chance and tested and tried out different things with that so do the same with vaping and you will be enjoying it at all times of the day much more than you did combusting.

Vaping will give you much more pronounced unique strain effects compared to smoking dues to preserving terpenes and flavonoids.

Smoking process burn them more easily then burning basic cannabinoids.

So, vaping will give you better entourage effect.

Slow vaping will enhance it.
By slow vaping I mean opposite of “one-hit-technique” - 5-10 minutes session. Climbing on temperature steps from low to high.
Applying high temperature on low-temp-terpenes destroys more then extract.

Couch-log/energetic issues - I can recommend you leafly.com
They have pretty accurate effects descriptions with useful “calming-energizing” scale.

Keep in mind that you won't get the effects of carbon monoxide and benzene intoxication you get when you combust. This means you won't get such an instant, head spinning, hit.

I don't know about concentrates but when vaping flower you'll find that different heating process (conduction and/or convection) and ultimately different devices will alter the effects you get from a strain. We call this the vapor signature.

E.g. the Vapman (great with flower, fantastic with hash) will offer a very body effective and sedative effect. This is the vape I choose before a stretching session and the most effective with arthritis, back and neck pain to me.

Now you will have to chime in the different threads and test different devices to find what's best for you !

That first point you made is quite important. Maybe its just that i haven't had enough amazing vape experience as of yet. So i should mention i ended up getting for vape(s). So i did step up and buy 2 different vapes. I got a PAX Pro during their 420 sale. This has turned out to be fine for dry herb and i have played around with Temp settings. But i get the impression real Vape enthusiasts don't think much of PAX. Low settings on the PAX are subtle if not missing. I keep thinking there is better out there and i need to explore more.

Where vaping vs smoking seems to differ for me is how long it takes for the effects to take place.

I have not really thrilled much on the PAX Plus with concentrates. I did buy a Boundless Terp Pen Spectrum for concentrates. But not really familiar enough to make any really judgements. we will see how that works out.

I see a few things that look interesting but very involved, you know something like a ball vape & a terpsicle. They do look you need to spend some $$. Any other suggestions i should look into?

I don't even know where to begin suggest beginning to get started with concentrate and trying to vape beyond those (neither of which would be my recommendation personally) in this situation honestly... However I will say whenever you are looking up what to buy and try wherever then type the name into google with the word strain, browse around some of the links like allbud seedfinder etc so you can learn more about the exact hybrid, the makeup of the plants it comes from, the features and flavors and effects, even reviews potentially, however look at different places, you will see they vary and since there are so many different hybrids from different places and different grows they can all be different further... So all this is just a guideline, grain of salt, similarly whatever the dispensary is telling you is often the same situation (depending on the location and specific place, some of them are really good and have specific detail information, but from the sound of it this may not be one of those haha I am in California so there is every type of thing and most of them are not helpful so that's why I follow a broad research approach and then try to remember what I've tried as well and how I felt about it myself) concentrates there are so many different types of course so that further affects the type of effects you might experience beyond simply the strain going in

& a terpsicle
This is imho an excellent choice. Assuming you already have a dab torch this won't cost you much.
With practice, manual vapes allow you to tailor your experience to your preference. And yes, they deliver.
And the function of the Terpsicle and similar double flow glass devices is one of the best out there. And the taste is...

yes i think getting a terpsicle is something i want but i realize this would be a random usage type of thing. I think based on my current vaping habits what i want first is another portable vape because that will get the most daily use. Ideas?

Like for instance last night i wanted to get a hit before bedtime but my PAX was full of Novarine, a real strong Sativa . I knew that wasn't going to be good idea but i didn't want to unload the PAX since it wasn't done. yet.

Even better would be a vape that does not have a fixed chamber you must load like that... I would recommend looking into the Arizer portables since they used glass stems, they even come with two, if you like the session conduction experience... I think they are much better than Pax personally and there are others too (but there are other more powerful top tier options as well with more pure convection on demand, though you might not need that just yet)

Much Much Cleaner High. Less drowsiness from asphyxiation.
Smoking is highly inflammatory. Inflammation depletes omega 3.
Take high strength premium fish oil for a month and tell me your high isn't restored like the teen years ;)
NAC (N -acetyl cystine) also does something similar ... my dreams came back .
