New to Vaping, Need Help Choosing a Portable

Hello all.

I've used a vaporizer a couple of times in the way, way past. The toaster kind with a whip. Interested in getting into vaping but there are so many products out there, it's a little overwhelming. Here are the things that are important to me, and I welcome any advice or suggestions! :)

Portable. Not necessarily discreet, as I only use in the privacy of my own home, but I don't want to have to plug it in.

Dry flowers will be the only thing I'm vaping, as I don't have a supply of waxes or concentrates. I'm sure there's a way to DIY, but it's really just me and I'm a weekly user (at most).

Efficient. I'd like to get the most high out of the herb I use. That probably means not a huge learning curve where it seems like a lot of the herb is getting wasted while I learn the intricacies of the device.

Durable. I'll be the only one using it, and it'll be once a week or so, but I'd like it to be my main go-to.

Adjustable heat temp. I'd like the option, as I'm sure different strains, textures, moisture content etc require different temperatures for optimal vaping.

True vaping and little chance of combusting my herb. If I wanted to smoke it, I'd keep using my pretty little dichro pipe.

Around $150 or less. Maybe this is too low to expect? What websites are reputable places to buy at discount?

From my own research, I've been eyeing the MFLB, Pax, and Solo. I've heard the most best things about the Solo, but the price is a bit high. I've also seen the T-Vape but haven't seen as many good reviews on it.
I've read people mention "out-gassing"...not to sound like an idiot, but what is that? My main motivations for starting to vape are the health concerns of smoking and getting more efficient use out of the herb. Do you find these things are better with vaping?

Thanks for any who take the time to reply! I know I sound like a complete noob...cuz I am. But I'm a firm believer in the "there's no such thing as a dumb question" philosophy. Otherwise, how would I learn? :D

Get a solo for 160 from puff it up if it has to be portablele
If you can have a plug in which I highly recommend as a good home unit will last a a life time a portable will die one day
The solo is a tank and mine has taken a betting at 2 years old but it won't last for ever
I also have a e-nano which I can not see braking ever
Plus a GOOD home unit will just be better then a portable

I'm thinking if I like vaping, I will eventually invest in a plug in unit. For now, I want to start out with a portable. My house is old and there are very few outlets, which would greatly limit where I could use it, and where I CAN use it is extremely awkward even with the utilization of extension cords (which is less than ideal). But, any suggestions for a good non-portable unit?

You can get the solo for 139 from aromatek which I wish I purchased first simple and great. And I believe you can get vapolution for like 70 somewhere I forget then you get both for rite at 200 which is good imo. ; o vapolution a good plug in and solo is a monster portable

If you can handle a little learning curve, and are willing to pass on the exact temp regulation... i would suggest you try the lotus... i 've been very impressed at the option of being able to vape my bowl in a couple of hits, if i choose to. Since i got a lotus, my volcano and herborizer have been resting. I think the lotus is also more efficient in the "high for gram" (as in "value for money") sense

I wouldn't suggest lotus as a first vape. To much learning curve and frustration imo plus indoors playing with butane gives me headache but lotus is no doubt a badass cost effective portable

Lol, boy do these threads come up often, don't they!

My vote is also for the Solo - it's a great choice for a vaping newbie to learn what ABV should look like when finished to their tastes

I agree with @420democrat I have the Lotus, I love it (use MANY times per day as my daily driver). But It might not be the best vape for a newbie. There is a learning curve, and more likely to combust with it until you get the feel for it. The Solo is much easier for anyone to pick up and learn how to use it right away

@cnotche Just buy the Solo, it's the best vape you can buy in that price range from anything that meets you're requirements. There are many on here still rocking the Solo despite having several other vapes in their collection. Hell, the new Solo models can be used while connected to the charger, even if the batteries are low, you can still vape while charging.

hmm.. yes, that is indeed usefull, i agee... but it comes with the price of being unable to vape the bowl almost instantly in a couple of hits.. right?

ps. i havent tried a solo yet

The solo is much more efficient at vaping the herb. I still get a bit of herb in my Lotus which never turns a dark golden brown. Luckily I don't mind too much since I save that for edibles and such. But I can't imagine learning what vaped load should look like had I not used an electronic vape first.

Don't get me wrong, I love how fast I can finish a session in the Lotus, but is it worth it? Faster isn't always better.

Also, have you ever tried to hand the Lotus to someone who's never used it and explain how to use it? Most of my friends can't milk the Lotus because they're drawing too fast (even when I handle the torch, my best friend STILL can't get a good hit from the Lotus because he rips like a freight train!)

Solo is great I just recently stumbled upon it and won't ever turn back. I've tried the Lotus on several occasions my friend has one and I think you can only vape in a couple of hits if your technique is good, I had to be eazy or I'd combust xD

hahaha... true... i havent tried passing the lotus to someone without any experience in torch-powered vapes...

as for the worth or not of the speed/style of the session... i'll have to say: most definately!! :)
i love holding in a thick cloud :)
