Hi all.
I've been a smoker for about 7 years now. A bit on and off, and a bit of years in between 7 years ago and now where I didn't smoke at all. My method of smoking was always through combustion, although I have dabbed it a few times before, ate edibles, smoked weed pens and the weed cartridges.
The main reason for my interest in vaping weed was due to the discretion, along with the portability and convenience. Then the more I've read up about vaping dry herbs, the more interesting it got for me. Hearing about how you'll be able to taste the actual distinctive flavors of the strains, how it's also more healthier since you're not just lighting every thing that's on the nug, etc. Even more so, I've heard that people are actually saving more weed by switching over to vaping. When I'm smoking daily and habitually, I'd say my average consumption rate would probably be around 7g a week. Roughly an ounce a month. I do take breaks every now and then to keep my tolerance and dependency down, but I will have to suffer for a bit during the break. As of now, I'm currently on my 2nd day of a break, but on average, I'd say my bowls were about .2g or so, and I was probably lighting up every 2 hours or so.
I'm gonna be going on a trip in about a month, and by then I should be through at least 2 weeks of a tolerance break. If I haven't already started vaping by then, I'll be able to experience what it's like for the first time with my new lowered tolerance. I'm looking forward to it.
Now, because of my weed tolerance and usage, I decided on getting a portable vape with a big oven. My budget was around ~$100-$120. I've narrowed it down to either the Flowermate v5 Nano or the Boundless CF, and ultimately I think I'm going to go with the CF. Initially, I leaned towards the CF mainly because of the big oven size, along with its design reminding me of a typical box mod (the v5 Nano looks like one too). The more I've read about the oven size and how you don't need that much weed compared to smoking a bowl, the less appealing the oven size for the CF was. Although I'd still prefer a bigger oven just in case I do want to vape more! Or share. It's just a nice insurance to have IMO. I've also heard about mods and attachments for the CF, and I'll definitely be using it with a water pipe attachment.
I felt like as I was getting into it, there was just a whole lot of things to look at, and I feel like they're all somewhat unique in their own way. People have their preferences for what they want -- but I can definitely see the curiosity to experience with all the other vapes. So... who here has the CF? How do you like it?
Also, one more thing... what was the first thought you guys had when you switched from smoking to vaping? What was the thought after more repeated usage if you had to compare it with how smoking felt?
Thanks!
