Hi guys,

I just got an Extreme Q vaporiser. I have never vaporised before in my life and the last time I even smoked was a decade ago.

1 - I 'hopefully' bought the version 4.0 extreme Q. But how does anyone know? It doesn't have anything wrote on it. Just like to check what I shelled out for it legit.

2 - Grinders. I have heard bad things about metal poisoning in general. Nothing to do with smoking or whatever. So it stands to reason a metal grinder may be a bad thing. Has anyone contemplated this? If so what do you recommend?

Its my first post. So go easy. :)

Welcome to the site! good to know you're vaporizing and haven't smoked! The hardest part for people usually is giving smoking a break and vaping exclusively for weeks before trying to smoke again. You're already ahead of the game.

Can't answer #1 (don't have an EQ), but check out the official thread and post over there - you will get the answers you need to using your specific vaporizer

There's a whole thread about grinding you can read up on - http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/herb-grinders.15/

If you get a good grinder which is well annodized, you should be fine. If you're REALLY concerned about it, simply don't eat the ABV after you've finished vaporizing (remember, you're not smoking, you're vaporizing - the metal shouldn't off-gas at the temperatures we're working with (from my understanding)

If you're that concerned about grinders, there are a few vapes which can work with unground nuggets (I purposely bought a vape which can handle unground nuggets, but I much prefer the vapor density of ground herb)

Hi Ratchet,

Thanks for the links. Appreciated. Ill read through after replying to you.

I am very concerned with metal poisoning and indeed other things such as plastics and such. Its not that I'm a health nut, its I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia a few years back (Hence my interest in Vape-ing now) and the things you find out about the causes made me look at life differently. I know I sound paranoid but things like Mercury fillings. I always trusted and took what was offered. Just look up Mercury, what would I want that in my mouth? So I'm perhaps overly cautious about such things.

Interesting when you say with Vape-ing you don't uptake anything but gas. That may make the above moot.

Thanks again, Ill have a read through the posts you recommend.

Loch :)

No worries, just take your time and use the search box. There is a TON of information on the subject of health and vapor safe materials. Some of the discussions by the more paranoid among us get quite heated

When buying any vape, I typically read the entire thread on this site from start to finish, that's usually a good place to start.

I've learned more in the past 6 months on this website than I've learned over 10 years of daily smoking!

They're made of aircraft grade aluminum, which is not a problem. Your other choice is plastic, which is also fine unless you load some heavy lumber (stems), which is never a good idea.

If you stick to well recommended vape brands, neither metal or plastics should be a concern with the temps involved.

Thanks guys, appreciated.

After reading though I have concluded when vape-ing metal and such isn't the issue it would be when smoking.

I bought a Grinder No1. Shark tooth apparently.

Mind I'm guessing is as near to actually shark tech and Beef crisps is to beef haha

This.

It might sound like alotta work, but in reality it's so informative that it's fun. And all the knowledge and know how makes the vaping itself so much more fun, because you're doing it right from the get-go :brow:

I've never seen a stainless steel grinder before and I doubt they exist, where did you see one? Odds are that it was just polished aluminum.
