hi, in the near future i am going to purchase a vape for dry herbs and i dont know anything about vapes or what to look for in a good vape.i would like to spend around 100 if possible but will spend more if needed. the main thing i dont want is combustion, i have bongs and bowls for that and im switching to vapes for health reasons. from reviews i have watched and comments read, it seems like most entry level vapes combust. what are some entry level vapes that dont combust. it doesnt have to be portable. thanks

I agree solo is a great unit for beginners & experienced vaporists. There is zero chance of combustion and almost no learning curve at all. You can get them for 160 from 2 different retailers that are here on FC and have excellent customer support and make any warranty issues a breeze to deal with or you can find one as low as 130 on ebay, but then you would have to contact arizer directly for support. There was some confusion about whether arizer would honor the warranty on ebay purchases but I think the final word was that they would honor it (you would need to verify that on your own as I haven't had to use my warranty and I don't think many others have either).
If you really can't swing the extra money I would say look at the flashvape (small learning curve and can combust but from the reviews, well with learning how to use it), the firewood, the vapolution 2, or possibly even the NO2. I dint have any experience with any of these units but all are well received, shouldn't combust at all (except the FV which can but it's worth learning from the reviews) and within your price range of $100. If you end up deciding on the vapolution though, you should check the thread because I believe the manufacturer offer to FC members is still valid abd you get a little extra for your $100 but check there formore info

I totally agree - if you can stretch to it - the Solo is an awesome device. I'm new to vaping and bought the Solo as my first vape about 8 months ago now - & I LOVE IT too!! It's very easy to use and clean, it allows the true flavour of the herbs to come through, and certainly takes me to a nice little place for a while.
I have put a gauze in mine, as the first time I used it (without one) I did get a bit of a mouth full of herbs. Whilst I've never experienced full on combustion with my Solo, to begin with I did overload it and vaped at temp setting 6 or 7 - & I noticed that where the herb had come into contact with the heating chamber it was a little singed. I now pack it only a half to two thirds full and vape at lower temperature settings ...... it vapes beautifully - turning the herb a lovely shade of caramel.
I don't own any other vapes, so I can't really provide any comparative comments....but I can honestly say that I doubt very much that you'd be disappointed if you went with the Solo!
