New idea for glass bubbler?

Hello fellow FC members,

Not sure where to drop this thread, so I started here in this sub-forum.

I have an idea for a new WT. I myself would use this with my Solo but I don't see why it couldn't be used with a variety of other vaporizers as well.

I would like a small bubbler, about the size of a DO20 (as seen on DHGate) but with the following requirements:
  • 18mm female joint located in the top center of the "can"
  • a small 1/2-inch nipple located on the side of the can, also at the top. EDIT: Or maybe a 14mm joint is a better idea here rather than a nipple?
What I would do with this piece then is connect a flexible tube to the nipple along with a nice glass chillum at the other end of the tube. This would allow the WT to remain stationary on my end table next to my easy chair as I use the chillum to medicate.

What do you all think of something like this? Is SunshineStore approachable on a custom piece like this? If not, where could I go?

Considering the inclusive invitation, although i don't usually look at glass pieces, i like the lesser lever effect from an appendice this short. But can there be something inserted inside? Simply because i'm curious.

A couple of options that already exist that you may like or at least may give you some ideas.

Take a look at all the hookah listings, as those tend to have the nipple for silicon tubing. There are some sweet pieces to be found on DHG with crazy can designs and GonGs.

Look for a design with a removable mouthpiece design (like the Infamous?), and then put a GonG fitting with a nipple (I have one from the DBV) in the joint for the mp.

I prefer the 2nd setup because it can easily switch between the "hookah mode" and more traditional use without having to have dedicated pieces. Then again, there are some hookah designs on DHG that are so outrageous and cool that I consider picking up the silicon whip again.

Hope your find something that works for your setup.

I know it's 14mm but the little mflb orbiter is awfully sweet with the Solo, using mine mainly with the solo, hammer and lotus. Sitting back with the solo i don't even bother to clear it every hit, I just sit back and relax like you do with a hookah.

Yes you are definitely looking for a piece with a jointed removable mouthpiece or an Ashcatcher and a whip adaptor like the one in this picture from OregonGlassBlower on iOffer.com. You can also have them custom made by @VaPeD&CoNfUsEd in your choice of colors. I have several. I think if you have a favorite style of bubbler a good glower could replace a neck mouthpiece with a Gong fitting (or a nipple, but the gong will be more versatile). You could definitely have a piece made by one of the glowers around here: distilled, doughboy. I guess it boils down to $$$. This pic: $25 Banger, $25 AC, $21 angled adaptor. With a whip hose attached it can be unstable but that can be fixed with a 3d printed base/stand from @Ratchett .

I also received a very similar piece from AGS on ioffer recently (see this thread). The one problem is it tips when my vape is placed on the female joint (notice not in the center/dewar) as the ash catcher is small and lightweight. Trying to figure out the most elegant solution around this but it will probably be a 3d printed base (or cap with a heavy material?) from @Ratchett.

I actually have been discussing this with someone else already. I have a 3D model built which I can simply input a few parameters and recompile the model to it any size. However, my current 3D printer is capable of printing up to 5 inch diameter currently (and even that can be tricky). I am looking at buying a CNC milling machine so I could make the same stand out of wood/acrylic/metal in any size you need (up to about half a meter!) - If you're interested, PM me the OD of your piece and I'll let you know what I can do.

Those orbiters are gorgeous but a bit reminiscent of a classic bong.. Too many fancy scientific devices out there now to compete with the classic circular water filter..

I'll have to look at it a bit closer when I get home.. At work at the moment and don't want to bring up a full image of a bong on my 4 monitors with my boss behind me ;)
I think I have seen it before though, it's a fancy looking wooden/metal/glass fusion with hard edges & a perfect circular chamber?
I think that may even be on MassDrop at the moment! Don't quote me on that but mayyybbbee

Since it's made to use with a whip like a hookah seemed to fit what the OP was asking for all except the glass joint size, and if you buy it this year you get a life time warranty on the glass.

Pretty Bad Ass fun little piece at only $79 for a life time of use... :hmm:

Also comes with two magic flight water pipe whips which would be $60 on their own and are great for all Kind of DIY setups.

I wonder if after 60 years they get people requesting replacements under warranty..
I think lifetime really just means the lifetime of the company, which hopefully out-lives the lifetime of the average MJ user :p

Or until you lose the base, what ever comes first. It's just stuff, neat glass stuff but I found I actually keep hold of very few things for "Life"... Really nothin' as of yet.

Yes all of these lifetime purchases end up only being temporary.. Technology evolves too fast, interests change.. The earth slowly takes back what is rightfully hers!

I am liking the look of this and would look into one if they became available.
If I can make a suggestion, the whip barb you have on the side I would have pointing down. I just think it will help with the lay of the whip hose and the balance of the unit as a whole. Does this make sense?

I finally broke down and bought this little bubbler from a favorite seller on DHGate:

It's not exactly like I wanted, but it will allow me to try out some "hookah-style" vaping.

The whips I purchased on that well-known auction site:

If I decide I like this method of vaping over using a regular bong-style pipe, I'll invest in some nicer whips and chillum tips.
