Nepalese Temple Balls & Other Old School Vaporizables

As a wild child of the seventies probably the finest high I remember was from a Nepalese temple ball.
When discussing such things with those of a younger persuasion they often look at me as if I am an alien. Is there anyone out there who tried it or is my brain finally melting?

I remember ' Thai sticks ' too . Really potent weed wrapped around a stick . ( usually 3.5 g or 7 g ) .

I think the ' youngsters ' of today have it , way too good .
We the product of the 70's , were the guinea pigs and early adopters to the cannabis game . imo
The MJ today is way more potent and efficient than in the past . imo
Also no seeeeeeeds . That sometimes accounted for 1/4 of the weight of your bag !

Real Nepalese Temple Ball hash does not contain opium...just really good, pure hash. If someone along the way produced something like that, it wouldn't have been from the monks of Nepal.

I'm not sure about the Monk's relation to the hash tho .
It could have been an urban myth .

You are incorrect. They were, at one time, produced by monks and used in traditional ceremony. May still be in some areas, I don't know. As to the name, I don't care what they call it...it's delicious if you get the real thing.

Thai sticks were the first real buds that became commonly available, thanks to the Viet Nam war. Before then, weed was mostly if not completely leaf, stems, and seeds.

That urban myth was applied to every potent hash I ever tried, and back in the day I tried them all. I lived at the major import site into North America at the time. We rarely saw weed, it was almost totally a hash scene.

No, we are talking about Nepalese Temple Balls. Charas is hand hash from India, also potent but different stuff.

Good to hear from you. I thought the great hashish's of the world had gone the way of most good natural things. Having fist tried it back in the seventies I was given a copy of "The great books of Hashish Vol 1" by Laurence Cherniak. I think I tried most of them. But his description is a classic. Especially the coughing . Do you vaporize something as rare as that?

nepal hash is some of my favorite hash. some coffeeshops do sell it as temple balls or something similar(most simply as 'nepal' though), but I have no idea if it's comparable to what was abvailable in the 70's.

btw, isn't charas a name for all (handmade) hash from that region(SE-asia/himalaya)?

right now I also have some kashmir, wich was more expensive as the nepal(12 instead of 7,50 per gram), and is even more soft/sticky. works pretty well with just a small chunk added to some herb, when stirring it coats the planty-bits.

Kashmir, as I remember it, was always more soft and sticky whereas top grade Nepalese was often quite dry to the touch but with just a little heat became very pliable. I would love to see some again but in my little corner of Spain all you ever see is Moroccan. Some of which is very good but nowadays the number one grade rarely gets out of Morocco.

I heard the same story back in the day but the guys I knew who brought it back said it wasn´t true. And, I guess they would know

There was certainly opiated hash back in the seventies/eighties. It usualy came from India and had white specks which was the opium. Damn, it was good but a little dangerous. Only for the big boys and girls.

when i young my friend got a piece of hash from some one at work that had white stripes in it.. little ones.. it was some of the very best hash i have ever had.. it was soft but not sticky.. it was tacky and doughy.. not sure if its the same thing.. but i remember the streaks in it looked like little lightning bolts when it was torn apart. soo sweet and really strong.. a little bit topped a lot of bowls..

Back "in the day" I got a post card from some friends in Denmark that had a decoupage of different holiday pics on it. It was sort of thick and had the words, "Cut Across Into Merry Christmas." It took me a couple of days to figure it out that it wasn't a language problem. I cut that baby open and inside was the most lovely rectangle of hash... with those same white lines in it.

Best hash I ever had...
