need help, my nail catches fire

new to dabbing an recently got sum bho from a buddy..I asked if it's vac purged but the guy he gets it from says he jus does a hot water bath...I put a lighter to a glob of it n it melts, it never sparked...but after a dab wen igo to retorch the nail the residue on it will flame for like 2sec an go away....cud that be from butane? ?

I'm assuming it's not the cleanest bho out there, probably just the residue from the wax, not the butane.

It may be plant waxes/material as @KidFated stated (poet and don't know it). It could also depend on how fine of a filter your buddy used to extract.
It could also be that the nail cooled and you did not quite finish the dab.

thanks guys..ill have to ques him a bit more nxt time I see him...an I heat up like half the nail till its orange then wait 3-5sec b4 I'll hit it...I gota try now a real small dab an see if it lites up after that

If it doesn't sizzle and or firework with a dab test it most likely isn't butane, but just leftover material coating the nail...

It could just be the vapor flashing if you are hitting it with a torch.
