Need help deciding what vape fits my needs, please.

Hi' there vape enthousiast's,

Let me introduce myself as being flawZ, I'm from the Netherlands and I'm a long time smoker (tobacco & weed).

After new year's eve and WHOLE LOT of smoking, my lungs were feeling like lil raisins...
So I decided I need to do something about it.
Although, to stop consuming tobacco and weed all together might be best, but from experience I know that's not the way for me..
I need the feel of smoke or vape passing through my throath into my lungs.
So I went looking for a vaporizer, to vape my weed and hopefully in the future replace tobacco for other less harming and more helpfull herbs.
Since I wanted to try it out first and not spend alot of money, I bought myself a Storm vaporizer.
I quickly noticed that I can definetly get used to vaping instead of smoking, though I need a better suiting vaporizer.
And that's the reason for this long ass post (sorry 'bout that).
I wanted to ask the more experienced in the vaporizing world wich vaporizer would suit my needs best.

I'm looking for a home unit, preferably decently movable around the house.(If any portable can match a home unit with my requirements, that's fine aswell)
It will be used for weed and possibly other herbs, so a wide range of temps would be nice.
I really don't care about looks.
Efficiency is always a big plus.
Vapor quality is hugely important!
I'd like to stay at around 200 EURO's if possible.

And last, when I'm at home I basicly only smoke spliff's (weed and tobacco).
I light the spliff, take a couple of hits and put it down, couple of minutes and I light it up again and take a couple of hits and put it down, and so on till it's done. Then I'll roll another one and start the cycle all over again.
Meaning, I'm always feeling a lil buzz but I'm not really that stoned, though I like to "take bigger hits" from time to time aswell for that real stoned feeling.

So what's really important for me is that I have a unit that I can use in the same kinda way I'm smoking my spliff's.
I need to be able to take a couple of hits every so often and when I want, be able to take a bigger hit to get "knocked down".
So if the unit would need alot of time to heat up, it need's to be able to stay on ( you get the deal ).
And if any portable would be recommended, it would have to be usable while being charged for this very reason ^.

I hope I don't bore the f out of you guys with this life story, just wanted to be thorough.

Any advice and recommendation's would be HIGHly appreciated.

Peace!

First of all, welcome to FC, @flawZ! You'll like it here; there's lots of friendly people and a wealth of information about vaporizers and vaporizing.

For the usage you describe I'd recommend a log vape, as you can leave it on constantly and take hits when you want. Only problem is, being "plug-in", they can't really move around the house with you as you vape. Still worth looking into though, check out the E-Nano and Underdog threads.

There's a couple on-demand convection style portables out there too that seem like they might suit your needs as well. Look into the Firefly, perhaps?

If you don't mind using butane torch lighters, check out vapes like the Vapman, the Lotus, and the VaporGenie.

It's hard to make recommendations as only you know what suits you best, but I hope this helps narrow down your search.

You should consider the vapman .. many agree it has one of the most spliff like rituals.

Seems like it meets a lot of your criteria. Has a small learning curve like driving a manual .. can also be more rewarding.

Team NO SLEEP!
I say vapman if you are after a spliff like ritual,
but the lotus if you are after a bowl like experience.

Thank you guys for the advice!

I think the Vapman and the Lotus are definitely worth looking at, but I look at them more as a secondary vape.

I'm really liking the log vape's tho!
They seem near perfect to me, since it's small and well portable (as in easy to take with me to friends), it's super efficient AND can be left on 24/7!

Only damn problem is I'm living in Europe, so it's like impossible to get a log vape...

I like the fact that it can be left on 24/7 so i can basicly take a hit whenever.

You guys got any other proper alternatives ?

Oh and how would a Firefly compare to a desktop unit in vapor quality, and is it useable while charging?

VapMan and lotus make fine primary vapes, and for what you described the vapman would almost be "the" primary vaporizer.

Contact @underdogette. On their website they stare they handle international shipping on a case by case basis.

And you cannot go wrong with an Underdog. The quality is unmatched and their customer service is exceptional.

@virtualpurple, thank's for the advice, I really hope I can get my hands on one!

As for the Vapman and the Lotus, I think what's holding me back really is the use of a torch lighter...
How hard is it to actually vaporize and not combust with them?

I agree the suggestion of a log vaporizer.

What about an Arizer Solo? It's a portable and you could walk around the house or outside and be cord free - freedom. I often suggest the Solo as a first vape. You can use it plugged in or go cordless. It gives good taste to your cannabis. The temp goes to 410 degrees. Since you are quitting combustion the higher temperature might work out better. You will have to see what's best for you.

You can buy a Solo through Puffitup for around $150. It's easy to use right out of the box after the first charge. The battery last for over 2 hours in the beginning, it will degrade over time. There isn't any learning curve with the Solo.
There are plenty of different mouthpieces, GonGs that you can get through PlanetVape and it fits easily to water tools.
The log vapes also fit easily to water tools.

Read up on a few vaporizers you are interested in then make the plunge.

Hey there FlawZ,
The log vape hits almost every category you have mentioned. I have a nano and it has become my absolute favorite vape. The best at efficiency, flavor, power, ease of use, versatility, etc. You can use it with your waterpipe or just out of a stem. Most people leave it on 24/7 with no worries.

When I started vaping, the idea of a log vape wasn't very exciting. There were all these other vapes that were marketed as eye candy. I was thinking, why the hell would I want a block of wood. Well, after a few years of knowledge I realized that the log vape is the real shit. Just look at the list of vape threads in the plug-in vaporizer section. It doesn't take long to see who has much of the interest in the plug-in category.
If you contacted Andy @ Epicvape maybe you could figure out a good price and method for shipping to Europe.

For the portable, you have to decide if you want battery powered or torch. Many of the torch units mentioned here (Lotus and Vapman) don't have you breathing in any butane fumes so no worries there. I have a Lotus and I use it on the road, camping, etc. You have to practice at it, because yes you can combust if you're not careful. But if used well, you get great flavor, clouds and efficiency. Lots of good reports on the vapman, but I don't have one.

Battery units are a whole different animal. I have a Firefly. It's pretty good, but a pain to keep cleaning and taking the faceplate off every time you want to stir. If I could do it over again I would get a Solo or Air for my battery powered portable.

All in all, I hope you find vaping to be a great substitute for smoking. You can get some serious vape hits on many of the aforementioned vaporizers and if this can help you satisfy your need for a smoke-like experience then all the better. If you try to lay off combusting, then the flavor of the vapor will get better and better. Plus you get a really nice high off of vaping that is much more pleasurable for many of us over combusting. After years of vaping, combusting anything tastes like pure burnt shit.

Let us know how it goes!

Still would recommend the vapman. But if you like the idea of 24/7 ready to go .. u could check out the silver surfer (ssv) its a whip vape.. bigger hitter than the logs but might suit your needs also. And easily available in europe. There is a cheaper younger brother called da buddha (dbv)

So, I have contacted @underdogette, but unfortunatly no luck there since it can be a real hassle at custom services.
Though I've found that on the website from EpicVape, the option for shipping to the Netherlands is available!
So I've just sent an email to Andy with my questions regarding shipping to my country.
Now I'm hoping for some good news!

And the Vapman got me intrigued aswell...
It is actually hard not to go and buy one right now.
But... I'm not a rich man. So for now, it's one or the other and I do really really want a log vape...

If most of your vaping will be at home then I would definitely go with the nano, especially if you are able to leave it on 24/7. A vapman would be a great portable to complement your collection later. Just my humble opinion.

BTW, if you do end up with the nano, consider spending $35 more and getting the following: a spare power cord, a 5 pack of basket screens, and a glass gong that matches your waterpipe (maybe 2, we break 'em). If you don't plan on using a waterpipe then consider a spare glass stem (adjustable). It would suck to pay shipping to EU again if you need some of these things.:peace:

I agree about a log vape. When reading your description of what you want that immediately came to mind. If you can't get an underdog then a nano is a great option.

That's exactly what I was thinking!

I was allready planning on doing that, but thanks for the advice on what to get!
Although I haven't got a waterpipe YET, I do want one to go with the E-nano.
I'm just really hoping they will ship it to me...

Get a Lotus Kit, a j-hook and a bubbler and you'll be set. Only vape i ever use at home, fast, strong and tasty.

You can also take it with you if you go hiking or camping, or in a nice dinner at some friend's house.
