Hey guys.. Looking for a back up inexpensive vaporizer. I'll receive my solo tomorrow and in case something happens I don't want to go back to smoking

I have a hebe titan II (50$)...its OK

Flowermate v5.0 for around 100$ looks pretty good and gets good reviews

Puffit always caught my attention for a cheap portable

Really wanna try the alfa but thats getting more expensive

Great choice with Solo. As a backup, I suggest something different and fun to use in it's own right. So you'll use it from time to time anyway?

Magic Flight Launch Box, one of the Vapor Genies (I'd avoid the bats and coil right off) and a personal favorite, Vapman come to mind. All known good quality, with solid threads here supported by good folks, and around a hundred bucks. They might not replace Solo but they would supplement it while giving solid backup.

You have to open a (free) account, I use Imgur.com, and upload the photos there (drag and drop into the page). Then go to that photo, cut and paste the "Forum" link they provide into your post here.

Of course it's confusing, how else are we going to keep the riff raff out?

Others hosting services are out there, there are a couple sets of instructions drifting around (hopefully someone will provide a link?), but if you go to Imgur and poke around it's pretty easy to figure out....I even managed......

I would highly suggest a flame powered vape for a backup. Look into the Vapman, VaporGenie, Lotus, Daisy and the Hammer.
Thanks.. Very helpful!! You guys are awesome!!

+1 on the vapman! Takes a little practice, but inexpensive, efficient and no power needed (plug in or battery).

You missed my favorite two parts, it's not only a very fun (and effective/efficient) vape, but it's got a great 'steam punk' thing going with wood, metal, mica and so on. Genuine Swiss made, very 'tick-tock' sort of people. Nice to know they make more than foil wrapped candy that looks like money and secret bank accounts........

Chances are it'll see more than backup duty, it will give the Solo a break from time to time.

I'm in the same boat as you, was looking for a backup for the Solo, and decided to go with the Flowermate, especially now at pufffitup it's on sale, so I thought it would be the best compliment to the Solo.

portable or desktop though?
Depends on how and where you'll use it. I love the solo because it's both!

I think I'll go with a flame powered vaporizer. Imagine losing power on both.. The horror.. I guess it's btwn the Vapor Genie and Vapman! @OF you really know how to convince people. Lol Great discription

You owe it to yourself to give the vapman serious consideration. As mentioned above, it is a piece of art and awesome design as well as a great vape.

Vapor genie is the only vape I've owned for less than a month. Granted, it was way back when I first started vaping and I should have given it more of a chance, but IIRC the vapman (in my quiver for almost a year now) is a much better experience and sweet little piece.

I would go Lotus. Like the Solo, it is very economical with herb. But it can also do a few things the Solo can't, like a single lung busting hit. Flavor is also very nice. And if you have a bubbler, look out.

Always forget about the Lotus since I opted for the Vapman while looking at both of them. Deciding factor was someone posted a used Vapman at just the right time for me. ;)

I have tried a Lotus and liked it. Would say very similar to the Vapman, but larger. Also, probably just a little easier of a learning curve. As it worked for me, I was getting a handle on the Vapman. Used a friend's Lotus, and think it helped me dial in the true power of the Vapman.

IIRC, two major differences in my consideration (other than timing of used Vapman coming up for sale). Vapman is a bit cheaper. And, it has that cool steam-punk/swiss watch design. Not that the Lotus is ugly at all, but the Vapman just has this classic beauty. Even if I do have to put on my reading glasses to see it well!:o

the decider for me was the Lotus WPA, so I wasn't thinking of it as an on the go portable. Though some members on here can attest to the Lotus performance using the stem. But good gracious, can that little Lotus fill a bubbler.
