Yes and no. Kind of difficult to tell with just a picture.

Different strains and different techniques will have an effect on the appearance. The appearance doesn't matter with the ND Sap. What matters is no heat, essential terpenes, and it being fully naturally decarbed. Of course the most important is the starting material, which I prefer to use buds only.

Keep in mind I have less experience with the organic alcohol than I do with using the 99% iso. The iso did make products that were more pretty, but not necessarily better, and surely not as safe.
OK ...almost 3 months have gone by maturing the natural decarb-processed tincture. Dosed 1/2 dropper-full and on full stomach an hour later I am experiencing a nice clear-head relaxing effect. Somewhat milder in overall effect, yet no less satisfying - just different. No couch-lock ...rather, it's motivating but not in a hyper way. Will evaporate about 1/3rd off of the liquid volume to increase potency-volume ratio. Very nice!!!

The more you take the oil the stronger it may seem to be. I am glad it has worked out for you so far. Please keep us updated. The more you take it, you may notice more and different effects. I am sure everyone else is interested in your updates too.

I have noticed that each strain and method offers different effects, not to forget body chemistry.

What I have noticed is it is less intense, especially the first day, but it seems to linger for days after taking it daily. It became more and more noticeable to me the more I took it daily. The reason why the buzz is different is because of the medicinal effects from the oil not being heated. Heat causes more damage then I ever knew or posted in this thread previously. The terpenes can mask the THC buzz, but only for 8 to 12 hours. For medicinal purposes, I feel natural decarbing is the best way to go. I have noticed that the longer my oils sit, the stronger they get.

I have learned much more since starting this thread. There is still a long way to go though. I studied about essential oils and learned what I could through the books along with some testing and experimenting. Now I have started reading about medicinal herbs and herbal recipes. I got 2 herbal books by Rosemary Gladstar. Many of the recipes call for natural decarbing with plant herbs and essential oils. Rosemary explains the damage that heat causes. She does not specifically state decarbing but does discuss heat damaging the medicinal properties. I am done with pharmaceutical toxins. Another herb book I recently obtained is called The Complete Medicinal Herbal by Penelope Ody. Amazing information between the essential oil books and herbal books. I recommend them to anyone interested in making their own medicine and treating themselves. These books have helped me along with my cannabis oil journey. It never seems to end, there is always more to learn.

very good! I appreciate the feedback. Not many have achieved what you have. Not sure why, maybe patience?
It is easier to go through it more quickly because it is such a comfortable buzz. It lasts so much longer though, at least with my experience.
When it comes to vaping it withe the eclipse (glass vials), I go through it super quick because it is so good, nothing seems to compare. The terpenes are so noticeable on the first few hits. It is very easy to consume a lot. It really helps me sleep too.
As a grower, I must admit, it is difficult to afford to vape ND Sap all the time!

Keep experimenting with the ND oil. The more I have used it, well, there is no going back, I like it too much! LOL :D

Reason being, besides patience, is that i followed your directions and modified the final phase of the decarb process: Final phase involved opening the bottle caps for several days and evaporating an additional 3rd off the volume. I also left all of the residual waxes and such in the tincture so that it remained whole in natural constituents. This effectively reduced my tinctures to the desired potency per volume. Now I can easily draw up just 3 drops into the dropper and that's all it takes. One hour later (morning) the head is VERY clear, but the buzz is definitely ON! Body-wise my joints feel teflon-coated, and my stride is on a glide! I love it!!!

Good Man! You took things into your own hands! I have done some comparisons myself and they have not directed me to the best way yet. I like what you have done and your results.

For some reason the lower grade oils from the same strains would naturally decabed more quickly. The higher quality oil, stored in small amounts, decarbed reasonably quick, but the larger amounts of the higher quality oil did not decarb quickly. I don't yet understand why, but I will keep your results in mind for future experiments.

I can tell by your description that you are experiencing the same as I when it comes to the effects.

Again, good job!

@Grow Goddess - I can't thank you enough for bringing this new technique to our attention! The results I have achieved with your natural decarb instructions are as good as, or better than, my standard Green Dragon recipe - VERY potent and the effects are just where my head and body want to be. Thank you again!!!

There is another method that I like to use and it offers a completely different buzz. When I use 99% iso for the extraction, winterize with grain alcohol, then naturally decarb for the 100+ days, the buzz or effects is completely different. So far I have only done it once, but will surely do it again. It produced the best, most visual buzz I have ever had, but it was very comfortable. My guess is the winterizing process removed most of the terpenes and probably the CBDs as well. I believe the reason why it is such an intense visual buzz is that it is pure THC and low CBN if any. A lot of people would disagree, but I believe CBN and other elements increase anxiety. At least that is how it effects me, obviously every body is different. I know removing the terpenes does not sound good, but dang! the visual buzz is awesome!

Is it necessary for there to be some solvent remaining in order for the extract to decarb over time?

I would have to say pretty much, yes. You may be able to get around it with certain strains and solvents to where it stays runny. If it is too thick of a goo or solid, I don't believe it will allow the CO2 to release and prevent the natural decarbing to take place. Just make sure it is extra runny or liquid. You can always evaporate the solvent off with no heat after it has finished naturally decarbing (100+ days stored). If you are using organic safe solvents, like grain alcohol, 200 proof ethyl, it is not as much of a concern to be sure all of the solvent is gone. The only time I use 99% iso now is when I plan to winterize with a safe solvent like grain alcohol or ethyl. I have been taking oil for so long now I just don't want to take the risk with dangerous solvents anymore. Gives me more confidence of long term effects. Unfortunately I have not been able to figure out why with my last batch, some decarbed in 100 days and the best quality of it took more than 120 days. Anyone have any ideas, let me know.

Hi I am completely a oil maker virgin!! I was diagnosed with an aggressive form of Rheumatoid Disease and Fibromyalgia 8 yrs ago. I have also recently been diagnosed with hypersomnia. I am in Ontario, Canada and have a prescription for medical cannabis. I am currently growing and vaping very high CBD cannabis. My questions are the following,
1. Just yesterday I learned about decarboxylating cannabis. Do I cure my CBD cannabis FIRST, and then decarboxylate it?
2. I was given instructions on heating the cannabis for the decarb process. I don't have access to Everclear. What do you suggest for alcohol to make the oil I want?
3. Grow Goddess you said that you had a long lasting buzz from your oil and that it was rich in CBD. How would I prevent that? I have severe pain and HATE the head high. I need body pain relief and yet still need to be able to function. How do you suggest I achieve that?
Again I appreciate any advice. This is so new to me but I found this forum fascinating and informative.
Thank you!!! :-)

But I like it!
Hi @Trinitylotr - welcome to a great forum. I'll leave the answers to the experts, but for q2.1 (everclear) you can get it, or Alcool, in Quebec if you aren't too far from the border. Or someone in Alberta can mail it to you. Or your doctor may be able to give you a prescription for ethyl alcohol, which you would then get from the pharmacy.

Good luck!

Thank you so much! That is great info! I am about 4 hours from Quebec and 2.5 from the US border. I do however know a couple of people that are working in Alberta so hmmmm that is a great idea! I just want to make sure I am doing the process correctly. :-) There is SO MUCH to learn! I have literally spent months and months researching and reading, asking questions and trying to absorb as much info as I can from more experienced growers and users. I don't want to wait 90 days before I can start to use the oil so I am wondering if that means I definitely have to use heat to decarb and then use the EC to make the oil??

In answer to #3. The naturally decarbed oil I make is not only rich in CBD, but also rich in THC and essential terpenes. It is more comfortable than a heat decarbed oil, less intense, and longer lasting.

It takes 90 days minimum, sometimes it takes up to 120 days to naturally decarb.

I use 200 proof ethyl now. I will also use 99% isopropyl. When I use the iso, I have the option to winterize with 190 proof alcohol, which provides an even different buzz.

If I needed the oil now, I would use the RSO (Rick Simpson) method, whether I used the 99% iso or 200 proof ethyl. Use a rice cooker to evaporate the solvent and decarb the product, finishing off with a coffee mug warmer for the final purge of solvent.

You can take small amounts which can lessen the effects. Taken three times per day will keep a consistent supply of THC in your body. At first it is intense, but over time, taken three times per day, you will build up a tolerance.

For your conditions, you may only want to take one dose per day. I have a patient who has fibro, she likes to take it at night so she can sleep through. She gets a full night's rest and feels better through the next day. On the bad days, she will take a dose of oil during the day instead of reaching for pain pills. :) For some reason the oil prevents any euphoria from pain pills. A person can still have a chemical addiction, but will not have the addiction to the euphoria. This patient broke a 27 year addiction to pain pills using the oil. It was not easy, but it was accomplished.

Thank you so much for responding! I really appreciate it! I just have to get my hands on the 190 proof alcohol. Have you posted your recipe and instructions somewhere on this forum? Again thank you so much!!
