I don't really like the all enclosed cube design, the paintjob is nice I guess, but too flashy for me. Does it really need to have all the features plastered right on the unit?

Edit, that was the box.

Maybe I'm jaded but it strikes me as just another gimmick vaporizer with more resources spent on making it look/sound impressive than actual research and development.

Luckily you found the Extreme in time. :)

The Mystifire is made by Air-2 for Pyro Products and is identical to Air-2's Vapor Matic (like the Vapir One and Pyro's Voodoo). Neither the Mystifire nor the Vapor Matic has stepped up and proven to be a top line vape. Maybe this (which also applies to the Vapor Matic) has something to do with it:

"We recommend a maximum temperature setting of 176C for the Mystifire. At a temp setting of 176C, actual temperature will fluctuate between 170C and 200C."

vaporizers.ca/product.php/product_id/649

What separates these two vapes is the warranty. Pyro is still offering the original lifetime warranty on the Mystifire, while Air-2 (under new ownership since Jan. '07) has dropped back to their standard, crappy 90 day warranty. Since the Mystifire also usually sells for less, it's a no brainer to choose between the two. I've heard from a few who have bought the Mystifire/Vapor Matic, and the response ranges between slight disappointment and 'it's OK, does the job' kind of comments. The herbalAire and Extreme are better buys in the dual mode catagory.

Glad to be here on this 'vapor only' forum C_D. No, don't have one. I've just heard from a few that have bought the Vapor Matic. Don't like the looks much (especially the Vapir version) and the performance didn't seem to live up to the hype. I just wanted to point out that, because of the current warranty difference, the Mystifire is the slam dunk better buy of the two. My personal feeling on forced air vapes is that fans and pumps are for filling bags. On a whip vape the constant, incoming air stream is more for stabilizing the temp than to assist the user. If it's just a user 'feature', where's the switch to turn it on or off? Only the Extreme gives you the option to do that. I don't want a constant stream of vapor with a whip vape. I want total control of the air flow. ;)

I havent hit the mystifire itself yet, but I have hit voodoo's vaporizer's before. As with all the similar styles, its just a lacklustre performance. Sure, it might hit ok, and it fills bags.....but its just another average, mediocre vape with a lot of marketing and a big price ;).

I actually bought one used on my quest for a portable vaporizer.
It is ironically almost the same as the Vapir one units, just in a square box and the fan speed controller is a dial instead of a 3 setting switch. Mine was noisy, almost like it's broken noisy. It literally sounded like my 12 Volt Mini vacuum cleaner at full fan speed!
The "adequate" and "does the job" is true with all of Vapir's products. I used a Vapir one for a few months, a couple times the heater went psycho and made the herb do a psudeo combust (tasted terrible). If someone was considering a Mystifire or Vapormatic id strongly recommend just getting a Vapir one or voodoo copy because it's cheaper and the higher priced ones are pretty much identical on the inside (thus produce nearly identical results). I dis assembled my Mystifier to clean it before selling, same as my Vapir one. So when I say they are nearly identical I am speaking from what I have visually seen and from actual use! :D
I feel these models are like dipping your feet in the waters of vaporizing. If you like it, sell it and get a better vaporizer! If not, sell it! (gotta love ebay ;) )

I agree that not being able to disable a vaporizers fan is a big deal.

It really amazes me how they can get these things so wrong ... time after time  I mean how hard can it be to make a good vape?

Good info mookow. Thanks. At least with the Mystifire you get a good warranty. I feel sorry for people buying the Vapormatic-a higher price and a crappy 90 day warranty for the exact same vape.

I mean how hard can it be to make a good vape?
They don't want to make a good product that'll last. They just want to fool new vape buyers with their bells and whistles. They're relying on the 'there's a sucker born every minute' market.

It seems like the Mystifire may be headed for history. Pyro Products (the mfg) seems to have shut down and no one is really selling the Mystifire anymore. I tried one and it was basically the same as the vapormatic. Nothing to write home about.

It's exactly the same except for the housing design. Just as the Voodoo is the same unit as the Vapir One. Vapir makes (made) the units for Pyro. The only thing the Mystifire had going for it was the lifetime warranty (vs. 90 days for the Vapormatic), but when the company dies so does the warranty. :/

Good riddance. I hope a good vape will rise from its proverbial 'ashes' to fill the spot of another bag vape. Very limited selection.

Have used both (mystfire/vapormatic) once, maybe twice. Both worked well (I guess). Not sure about cleaning/durability/etc.

I would also recommend the Extreme if you want whip/bag/temp options (and to take time read/ask around before shelling out cash--a good unit should last ;) ).

Just my :2c:

it doesn't make sense that they would endeavor to create a crappy vape and mass produce it and pay for expensive advertising knowing it is a piece of shit and that there's a sucker born every minute. can you actually make a living like that?

Mcdonalds is a repeat purchase entity, and their hamburgers do produce flavor (and vapor later on).
People aren't going to keep on replacing the same shitty vape after it craps out regardless of the advertising.

It's the weird small plastic bags that come with the Vapir that make me laugh. I bet they really taste of plastic?

It is just like the vapormatic..i have the vapormatic, the bags for it are pretty useless. I've been using the bags for the volcano for 3 yrs now..no problems with my unit and use it everyday.
