A couple of my old favorites...hard to choose. Have been feeling a bit nostalgic, myself, lately.

"Suzanne"

;) "Amoreena"

:2c: This may be clearer? Younger folks remember their first times, too, but they were later. :)
Tumbleweed....so good.

(Sowwy about the "double post" blah blah blah.... Does it really matter anymore?) Annnnywho...

Been listening to a lot of this lately (one of the many giant box sets and complete discographies I d/l'd during lockdown):
The Complete Bob Marley & the Wailers 1967–1972
I've always loved the stuff I have from these sessions (some old 2 cd set), but I would still listen to the Island stuff, I guess mostly cuz I "grew up" with it... but the more I listen to these, and the older I get, the more I can't willingly go back.... there's really no reason to other than for nostalgia purposes. I find these recordings far superior in almost every way...

This is the closest I could find on YouPube (the remastered '97 release sounds a bit better)... :

Bob Marley and the Wailers - Rock To The Rock - 1973 (recorded in '68)

1. Rock To The Rock
2. Rocking Steady: Alternate
3. How Many Times: Also Known As 'Do You Remember'
4. Touch Me
5. Mellow Mood: Alternate
6. There She Goes: Alternate
7. Soul Rebel: Original
8. Put It On: Alternate
9. Chances Are: Alternate
10. Love
11. Bend Down Low: Alternate
12. The World Is Changing
13. Nice Time: Alternate
14. Treat You Right
15. What Goes Around Comes Around: Original Version
**16. What Goes Around Comes Around: Dub Version (missing from this vid)

Edit:
Example, this is from the '97-'02 release:

Part I Vol. 2: Selassie Is the Chapel

  1. "Don't Rock My Boat" (original) (later known as "Satisfy My Soul") – 2:32
  2. "The Lord Will Make a Way" – 2:12
  3. "Chances Are" (original) – 3:19
  4. "Selassie Is the Chapel" – 3:52
  5. "Tread Oh" – 2:49
  6. "Feel Alright" (original) – 2:31
  7. "Rhythm" – 2:31B
  8. "Rocking Steady" (original) – 1:49
  9. "Adam and Eve" – 3:05
  10. "Wisdom" (original) (also known as "Fools Die" and "Stiff Necked Fools") – 3:13
  11. "This Train" (alternate) – 2:39
  12. "Thank You Lord" (alternate) – 3:20
  13. "Give Me a Ticket" (original) (also known as "The Letter") – 1:58
  14. "Trouble on the Road Again" – 2:32
  15. "Black Progress" (medley: "Black Progress"/"(Say It Loud) I'm Black and I'm Proud") – 2:30
    Dub tracks:

(yeahyeah, so it's 1987... 🙄)

To the uninitiated: Brace Yourself

Sonny Rollins - G-Man (Live)
A "Saxamophone Colossus" if there ever was one... skip to 6:00 in if you don't want to wait and checkout the circular breathing...!

Whole thing: Sonny Rollins - G-Man
  1. "G-Man" - 15:19
  2. "Kim" - 5:58
  3. "Don't Stop the Carnival" (traditional; arranged by Rollins) - 11:18
  4. "Tenor Madness" - 12:01 (CD only)
  • Sonny Rollins: tenor saxophone
  • Clifton Anderson: trombone
  • Mark Soskin: piano (weakest by far, but the other cats more than make up for it!)
  • Bob Cranshaw: electric bass
  • Marvin "Smitty" Smith: drums

Man, the jazz is digesting beautifully today.....!

Lionel Hampton Presents Buddy Rich (1977) (Full Album)
THE album that brought to LIGHT
that which was BUDDY RICH

(to me anyway, back in the late 80's when I first heard it, regardless of all those truly astonishing Carson spots...)

And this is connected to the last album I posted, cuz I saw "Bags" back around '90 at the deCordova Sculpture Park in Lincoln. MA and got to meet Bob Cranshaw, the bassist on 'G-Man', that was there in support....! He offered to give my buddy bass lessons (he was going to Berklee School of Music at the time) but he would have to drive to NYC for them (kindah faaaaah from Bahston)....... Lotsa great shows there back then, very low key, musicians just hanging out, easily accessible (accostable?) and friendly...

Edit:
Ok, Fuck it... Next!

Transitioning away from jazz, this has really caught my ear lately... don't know much about the dudes but I do remember vids by 'em over 10 years ago, or so, that were pretty cool. Stick with it, it's a builder AND a grower:

^^Nooooo, I got my vibraphonists mixed up! "Bags" was Milt Jackson, not Lionel Hampton... never got to see Lionel. But the rest happened, I swear!!

Besides, don't all vibraphonists look alike anyway...? 🙄

Maybe one of the best opening tracks of all-time..? High praise. Yes, I'm fully aware:

Inca Roads · Frank Zappa · The Mothers Of Invention One Size Fits All (1975)

Followed soon thereafter by perhaps maybe the BEST SOLO EVER CONCEIVED...?!:

Po-Jama People · Frank Zappa · The Mothers Of Invention (1975)
(u want opinions? i gots em)

Whole album with awesome audio
