I have had the Herbalaire for about two years now. I guess I am getting tired of it? Not sure. I picked up a MFLB a few months ago (got a killer deal on it) just to see what all the hype is about.
It took a while, but the MFLB does take some getting used too. I don't really use it all that much, even though I think I have figured out how to get the most out of it. The Herbalaire has done a great job of getting the job done.
Now my gripes about the Herbalaire. I am hoping listing all my gripes and wants will help steer me in the direction of my next vaporizer. But let me say first, the Herbalaire gets the job done. With flying colors. I am trying to get the same performance in a much easier, more straightforward package.
1) I smoke every night. A zip lasts me 4 months. So I am vaping a very small amount, every day a few hours before bed. Ride the high and then pass out. Wake up refreshed and off to work.
2) I smoke in the garage. Right now, the herbalaire is in a big Rubbermaid tote, next to a shoe box with everything else. It needs to go completely away when I am finished.
3) I like the efficiency and easy of sucking down bags of vapor. I really dislike how loud the pump is on the herbalaire. I go through periods of using the whip for the quiet. Then I use the pump for the efficiency. When I am dry, pumping out bags from the ABV is a godsend.
4) I really hate how you have to either hold the primary top piece in place until it warms up, or remove the whip and wait. You really have to have used the herbalaire to understand this point.
5) I dislike the bend the whip will get coming right out of the primary top piece. Its a pain.
6) I really hate the DYI feel of the bags. You have to use a screw clamp on the bags to the individual mouth piece. I would like something more professional and robust. If you don't bunch up the bag right, it makes a terrible sound while filling.
7) The tube that connects the primary top piece to the bags gets mucked up often and is difficult to remove, replace and clean.
8) The piece that connects the whip to the primary top piece gets gunked up with rez very quickly and bubbles while vaping. Gets clogged a lot until it warms up as well.
9) I dislike how you can accidentally pop the primary top piece off.
10) I would like an easier way to remove the material in the crucible with out burning the fuck out of my fingers. If i am done, I want to easily save the rest as potent ABV for when I am dry.
11) I have been thinking of ways to mount everything into an expandable toolbox with a single wire coming out of it. You know, plug in one wire to an outlet, open the box and have everything right there, with no fuss, ready to vape. Dealing with all the tubes, wires, separate pumps, crumpled up bags, stash, etc. all thrown into a Rubbermaid tote, every night is irritation. Its a lot of setup and breakdown, every night that is taking time away from me. My main reason to get something else.
Does anyone have any suggestions on not just a new vaporizer, but a good setup that is easy to open up, vape, breakdown, close up and get back in the house.
Minimal fuss, maximum efficiency. My time at night is valuable and i don't want to waste it with setup and breakdown. But it has to completely go away.
Thanks for the help.
