If vaporizing is anything like distillation, the energy for evaporation goes into one substance at a time. For example if you boil an alcohol/water solution, the temp will be stuck at the alcohols boiling point until all of it is gone, then increase to the boiling point of water. Since waters boiling point is 100c, I can imagine it would take a lot of the initial heat to vaporize out the water first.
Oooorrrrr I could be taking out of my butt. Can someone with more concrete knowledge chime in?
No, I think you're right there
@slick . Agree with others here that drier is better once it is time to vape. Try to keep everything fresh and same moisture content as when I get it by sealing in vacuum sealed mason jars (sometimes may even add a little moisture). But, once it is time to vape I like it a bit drier. Don't think you want it so dry that it crumbles when you touch it, but you should be able to easily crumble it in your fingers.
If fresh out of vacuum pack I sometimes put it on a piece of paper on top of the cable box for 1/2 hour or so to dry it out. Within a day it usually dries out fine in one of my "daily" tins. Kind of have to watch it as weather gets cooler and heat is on. If not in sealed container it will dry out a bit too much. But, dry = good IMO! Something I learned when I first started lurking here on FC many, many moons ago and still seems to work great.
Back to OP... don't be fooled by the white cloud. If it is coming from moisture that's probably just water content. I'd say dry your nugs for vaping. More moisture content in your load will make for more of a white cloud hit, but you're taking up heat and lung space (that I don't have much to spare) to vape water/steam that will dilute what you're trying to get out of your vape. In terms I think many are more familiar with... would you take a nice 12oz IPA (beer), put it into a 16oz glass and top with water so you can have full pint? Well.. I guess you kind of get it like that out of the can with Coors Light (and others), but I'd rather stick with a fuller flavored beer and drink my water separately. Same with the vape. Would rather my vapor be as undiluted as possible, and drink the water from a glass.
