I am a professional glassblower 15 years and I use a desoldering gun to heat my bowls and quartz bangers.
It's important to me that there will be a portable temp control heating device to pair with standard* design glass art. I really do appreciate all the things you all build. Most of it doesn't work with the glass we make tho.
So please help me figure a few things out.
I would like to build a pancake or donut coil on a cord wired to a temp control Modbox. Then place this coil against the bottom of a quartz banger. I'd like help choosing a stainless wire for the coil. It seems 26 or 27 is a good reliable size. The length of the wire for the coil I haven't figured out yet.
The width of the coil would flat in a spiral would optimally in my mind be as wide as the bottom of the banger which would be 16mm to 25mm depending. The coil would need to be given a base to attach it to the wires; this would be a bit of tinkering but it's a very simple idea so shouldnt be too difficult to get a prototype functioning.
The wire would lead to the Modbox probably best to attach it to an existing 510 diy thread base and just make a cap for it to cover the connections.
So I'd like to use a very large battery. It seems 200-250 is what the current chips handle.
Temp control is a must for my needs. It would be nice to use a quality chip but I don't know which ones could work. Since the heating time would be quite a bit longer than it's intended use it would need to not automatically cut out. And it's be nice if it could manage it's battery under what I think might be usage outside of what it was designed for.
Yihi chips look promising since they supposedly monitor ambient temps for accurate temp control. but Im just now doing research. I'm open to any suggestions.
This really is important to me personally and for my business as a glassblower. Any effort you put forward I promise will see a functioning device in the near future.
thank you for your help.
