MiniVAP Vaporizer

@lazylathe
I'm curious in the herbie whip for the MV, does it provide extra cooling compared to a regular, see-through silicone whip?

I have absolutely no idea!
I only have the Herbie whip, so cannot test other materials.
My other silicone tubing that I have is too big and the walls are very thick.
And Herbie tubing fits perfectly in the MV lid and the nipple of the flexicone fits perfectly inside the Herbie tubing, a perfect match!

The whole idea is to provide extra cooling while retaining as much flavor as possible.

I would Imagine that color would not affect it.

thanks for the insights. I looked up the whip on the herbie website and they write something like "hot vapor in, cool vapor out" so I was wondering if it was some kind of "magic" whip.

I've got the miniVAP and Herbie and yes, the Herbie whip provides extra cooling compared to the whips I tried BUT only because it was longer. The longer path allows more cooling.

I'm a flavor chaser and LOVE the miniVAP flavor so I go with the shortest vapor path, the 2" hard plastic mouthpiece. It gives max flavor BUT minimal cooling.
Remember that all cooling promotes some condensation of vapor/ loss of taste. It is slight but that's the trade-off.

Any whip of reasonable length gives cooler vapor than the hard mouthpiece but slightly less flavor too.

It's fun to experiment----try the 2" mouthpiece on low heat for a unmatched flavor experience of those lemony wisps coming in and out.
Take 3 seconds to change to a whip for medium heat and a fuller/ bolder taste.
Take 3 seconds to move the "basket module" to a bubbler for high heat and a knock your socks off
blast that is incredible.

IMO the miniVAP is the most versatile vape out there. Straight draw, bubbler, 3 hour battery use, AC desktop capability. Love it!!!

I agree totally!!
On my phone so replies are limited...

My only complaint about my MV is I wish it was as consistent as my Herbie!
Some days the MV is awesome straight away, first basket and huge clouds!
Other days it seems to take a few heat soaks and resets before it wakes up and remembers what it is supposed to do...

Still waiting on a reply from VaporNation, now a month of waiting...
Also have sent an e mail to Hermes to see if they can figure it out. No response yet.

Thanks MB, I made the same experience with different lengths of regular tubing. Still haven't tried the glass mods that some of you posted, but they have me very intrigued. Just seems a little fragile, because when passing around the MV, people sometimes overestimate themselves ;)

Edit:
I also must agree with lazylathe regarding inconsistencies. Getting rid of those and being a little quicker in customer care and feedback implementation would make this vape truly rock the house on another level.

I don't see the point in the glass straw I walk around with my mini and my roor 100 bubbling away happy as Larry. After starting water filtration with the mini it's given me my first viable option for fucking combustion completely. I'd use either or a WT or the plastic tubing. I even bought a length of the whip 3 metres long so I could custom length mine and have it in a backpack. I got the idea from someone on this website. The bloke who does hang gliding or something.

I have yet to get this amazing flavour and my herbs are spot on.

The da buddha even through the long whip I can taste the flavour.

Minivap seems warm with 2" and tube but I have trouble distinguishing the taste via this method. So not sure what's going on there.

This is on the blue setting

If I put it through water I can appreciate the taste better as it is not hot. Maybe it's me and hot things as the davinci ascent, everyone was saying how good that was for taste. I thought that was even warmer than the minivap but again the flavour escapes me.

On blue I find the flavor to be very very light and delightful---but wispy, like you blew air across a lemon drop and are now inhaling it. Maybe it;s too delicate for your taste buds??

Especially if you mean blue = #1 of 4 heats/ lowest.
the #2 setting of 4 also looks blue, but it appears to be a blue led and red led lite together which they say equals pink.....
Are you on 1 of 4 or 2 of 4?
If 1 of 4, that's almost like a warmup/ holding pattern setting----not vaporizing much of anything

Try the green, #3 of 4 or medium high.
#4 of 4 is red/ highest.

Definitely blue #1

I can taste it before it has been on to long at the start but then when it gets hotter due to use even on blue the taste idmt there anymore, maybe it only lasts a few light draws on it for flavour.

I have tried the other and I get more vapor but the taste only gets worse. Can't really taste flavour.

Will give it another go in a bit.

Fuckin A, this is exactly what has started happening to mine. Actually within last few days.
My unit had always been consistent before this. Heats up but I can tell when it's not getting up to temp.

I initiated a 'ticket' for replacement at Vapornation. Got a reply today today saying ( I'm sure this is a pretty standard response:

I sincerely apologize about the issues you have been experiencing with this unit. The return has been started.

You will receive an e-mail from my returns department within the next 24-48 hours with the next steps on the return.

Blah blah blah

No Minivap during this replacement process is gonna f'n suck.

That sucks but i may be following you soon as i think my unit is faulty as well!

This is my issue:
When turing the MV on, i hold both buttons etc... We know the routine!
While waiting for the light to stop blinking the battery indicator light will sometimes change to BLUE and the unit seems to stop heating.
The LED on front stays the colour of the set temp but the back LED turns BLUE.
Lately the GREEN battery LED is MIA most of the time...

This does not happen all the time but it is annoying to always have to look at the battery LED colour!

EDIT : Opened a ticket as well. I just want a reliable unit!

Doesn't blue mean it is just below a full charge?

According to Hermes BLUE just means the battery is still in good condition.
Green or RED are used for battery power level indicators.

@stickstones
@Mrmrmrmr

Direct copy and paste from the e mail. (don't listen to me, i was wrong...!)

1- Why is the battery indicator light BLUE for a while before turning GREEN?
BLUE means maximum charge or MV connected to the power supply.

Yes. Blue is full charge. I forgot off the top of my head who asked Hermes this not long ago, but thats what Hermes said. Newest units Blue Power = Full

Edit: @lazylathe was the one who asked. Mine has always been Blue on full charge. It's Blue on the power puck also.

Just wanna pipe in that a lot of people probably overlook ambient air temperature. Stands to reason of you are sucking chilly air through it then there is only so much a heater can do.
I'm a right cheap bastard when it comes to heating my flat so.. I know this :ugh: first hand.

I get vape on blue.
I remember seeing an actual temperature given to each colour so it's definitely not just a basic 'ON'
I did like the holding pattern pink comment. Brilliant.

I vape in a temp controlled house so it is a consistent temp and humidity all the time.
All my vapes perform the same except for the MV.
I am wondering if it is a bad batch of batteries or poorly assembled packs.

When it does work it is Brilliant!

Both of my units are extremely constant and stable. I'm very happy because I have been through some issues about that in the past.

RE temp and color of lights. One site reported:

"Hermes rejected a previous LED readout for a simpler colour code: Blue (cold)
Pink (warm, 200 C°), green (hot, 215 C° ), red (very hot 225 C° )."

That's how I've viewed it , that step #2/ pink is the first useable temp/color.
That's why after sitting idle x minutes, mine reverts back to BLUE (holding pattern/
minimal temp) and then after X minutes, it shuts off completely.

Pulled directly from the current euro site..

FAQ’S & RECOMMENDATIONS
¿Equivalence between Colors and setting?
Front light Temperature setting
BLUE 190ºC
PINK 200ºC
GREEN 210ºC
RED 225ºC
Rear/back light Battery level
GREEN(max) up to 180 minutes
ORANGE(medium) 60-90 minutes
RED(low) < 30 minutes

My battery will however also sit on blue a short while after charging.

And..

My buddy I had over getting mashwd the other day come up with this.. A revised base dock/charger with the ability to connect to your computer so as to allow the user to create custom setting of temps within a given range. Also shut off timer could be manually adjustable.
Don't think it'd be that difficult a thing to achieve as it must be basically what gets done for a firmware update.
