MiniVAP Vaporizer

Almost there...
Been away from here for a while... But never fear the MV is always close at hand!

I was having some issues with my MV for a few weeks and decided to put it away for a while.
My other vapes just seemed to be easier to get nice even ABV.
Then i started to use it again and had similar issues... Hard to get vapour from it and the clouds all but disappeared, i was not impressed at all!
Came onto the forum and read of a number of other members having similar issues.
I thought my core was failing...

BUT...

It was all USER ERROR!!!

HOT TIP: DO NOT OVERPACK THE BOWL!!!!

As soon as i eased up on trying to max out the load in the basket, the MV came back to life!
Small or large basket the MV is rocking again!
Dry or through a WT, it is bak to being amazing!!

The MiniVap is once again on top of the pile!!

I had a similar experience early on. I found the large basket to be wasteful unless I was vaping with someone else (rare for this guy) but I was overpacking the small because without doing so I felt it wasn't enough.

Now I'm using the EQ baskets which are right in the middle of the two and I feel that amount is perfect. Plus the EQ baskets are less expensive and far more accessible.

@lazylathe & @scottg402 haha, I always 'ride the border'! Never really liked the small basket, didn't seem to work well for me until I realised it was the grind . Am digging it more lately! And, yes too true, it seemed like it wasn't enough .

@Vap974 It started complementing the Sublimator, but now it's turned all the way round. Sub gives me a very mellow feel, despite (or because of?) the 'single hit extraction' thing. MV hits harder, I feel it more concentrated somehow, although MV goes straight or though a spit of water and Sub goes through a big 55cm bong (but that's the purpose, variety!). I tell people the MV is the closest thing to smoking without the combustion because of how thick the vapor seems to be, even on the last hits, not to mention how well flavor is preserved IMO. But watch out for rising tolerance after a while!

But I like it!
I only use the large basket these days, but mv is doing a lot of traveling. It gets turned on and off a few times, and when things start to taste weak it gets changed for some of the daily herb in the small pill bottle in my pocket.

Who says mainstream pharma isn't all that great? They made great pill bottles now that film no longer comes in plastic snaptop containers...

I had a friend (RIP John) who cracked me about-- about film containers.
I was taking film out of one and he said. "Wow, I never knew film came in those".

I still like the metal film containers, Kodak yellow with red? top

Hi everybody,i just was asking, you, owners of a minivap,do you prefer another vaporizer (portable or not) and why?:)

Perfect timing for the question, because I just returned from Camp (Western Adirondacks) and usually always bring the MV along with my Crafty, but forgot the MV this time much to my chagrin and had to solely rely on my Crafty the whole weekend. While I love the hell out of the Crafty, when I got home and had a session with the MV, lets just say I will try even harder not forget it ever again. I felt like I left a best friend behind.

So...it seems that the owners of the MV really enjoy it,as i do!
My first vaporizer was a da buddha, after i was looking for the same but cordless: Minivap
Between the DBV and the MV, i had several vaporizers, but now i don ´t use them...sometimes my lotus, but without a perfect technic you dońt have a perfect result whereas with the MV, i have always good results!!
What will be the things you'd change on it? (For me nothing except the time to reach a good temp)

@Vap974 I love my mV but would like to see an optional battery about 1/3 the size of the current one.
I don't need all of its huge battery life so this mini-battery would be better , less weight and less size for the overall unit. And less expensive to buy as an option!

I know everyone's mileage will vary, but :
how many draws can each of you take in a typical bowl?
how many bowls can one vape on a single battery charge?

the draw thing is harder to answer with two different sizes of baskets. but I usually use a large basket and have had as many as four, thirty minute sessions before a recharge. Even then, it wasn't dead yet. Basically the battery lasts well longer than anything I could do to it in a day, but I only use in the evenings.

MiniVAP solid cone??

Has anyone found a good use/ creative use for the mV solid cone?
The white , solid, PTFE cone.
I find the flexicone, silicone cone to be much more useful.
Any ideas for using this?
Thanks

3 things I would change

Quicker warm up
More temp settings
New lid, this is such a week point to this device.

C'mon Hermes give us something to work with besides a little nub sticking out the lid. A whole new design without the flexicones, but with a basket ELB style, and with an 18 mm male instead of a useless nub maybe? I bet the flexicone shape is part of the even extraction tho?

I mean Sticks and Ed shouldn't of had to finish engineering this thing to have IMO the most pleasurable dry mouthpiece option.

But if any of the above suggestions mess with the flavor this thing produces, I wouldn't change a thing!

@MinnBobber I was wondering exactly that this afternoon... one thing that popped into mind was that you could put just a screen in it, and leave the basket loose in the heater body... but that was pure guess, and the only thing I could come up with...

Well,

as @Roger D has shown us many times before...if using with water why bother with the lid? Just put the flexicone tip onto your bubbler and rip away...

And yes, the little nipple is hard to work with hihi. How about using only the straight part of the supplied mouthpieces as a base to attach a glass adaptor?

Withput the lid it just takes a lot to make sure its airtight a d has gld seal..i prefer my eds wong and it just sits on any bubbler..

yes, a one handed solution would be great. @Ratchett is this not something you might work on? I know you allready have some sort of adaptor but forgot if it could be used one handed safely, especially if it is going to be used on a bong with the intake at an angle?

For sure this will be easier to pull of using it without the extra weight of the battery....

Sadly I don't have access to materials right now to make it safely. Hopefully in the near future I'll have access to high-temperature vapor safe materials which I can directly 3D print. For now I'm stuck working with Silicone (mine is non-toxic and vapor safe up to 500F)

Need more input before I get my drill out!
Y'all think one could bore out the lid to the outside diameter of a 14-18 mm low profile reducer adapter, then slide adapter through the lid to where the bottom flange of adapter holds it inside the lid?
The flexicone would then seal to inside of the 14 mm female part, ending up with only the 18 mm male sticking through the new bored out hole?
I think it would all depend on the adapters bottom flange thickness?
I don't believe the adapter to lid would need to be air tight, it just needs to hold the adapter sturdy?

More thoughts please

After reading thru so many pages in really up for getting a MV I considered getting a sub but the whole heat up time of like 30 mins and heavy hot metals kinda kills if for me plus and it's a massive plus the MV could sit well in the living room, dinning room or just about anywhere due to its sexy sleek looks.

I'm after a pre owned unit either Teflon or glass core but it's the colour that's important to me as I want one which is a just as good on performance as it is being a nice centre piece for the room it's sat in, therefore I'm after a silver, black or ideally green (we've got pale green wall/s throughout the home, our fave colour for obvious reasons :leaf:)

Hard to get around these parts at the moment these devices as the normal supplier (vapefiend) isn't prepared to stock them again for certain reasons, it's the glass cored ones that have given him lots of returns and warranty problems, not to mention the lack of response form Hermes, hopefully with the additional staff members that should be part of the problem solved.

Don't suppose the coloured shells can be interchanged? There's a unit off fleabay in gold which is a no no but if you can send it off for another colour to be added/removed?

Honestly, after thinking about it I came up with nothing. Probably why just about all of us still have it in new condition and unused in our MV carry case.....at least I do.

Yeah. Lid replacement cost is ridiculous. None of the adapters interest you? Or already try them?

I sure have, and I like them for what they had to work with.
Ed's Wong, with Sticks j hook is my favorite!
Ratchetts song works well too, but is flimsy with the weight of the j hook on it.

The 1/4" nipple sticking out is about useless IMO.
It just doesn't give a secure feeling when passing around with a glass j hook on top, over say a concrete patio, or tile floor. Almost kills my buzz.

I'm having excellent results however with the glass reducer mod I'm working on, by far the most stable IME. I'll report back after I work it for about a week or so.
Just need some time to make sure there are no hidden flaws before I recommend, and post pics.

Till then, DO NOT throw away any lids with broken nipples!

Does anyone use the included dry straw? If so, how often do you use it?

Sorry Flyin but, I don't want to recommend a modification to a $600 vaporizer until I'm absolutely sure it improves it. Step #1 involves ruining a $54 lid. Let me guinea pig it and make sure nothing breaks
before I post pics. If I can figure out how to post pics.

I tried the straw, and the vapor temperature wasn't very comfortable for me. I found (can't believe I'm gonna say this) hitting straight from Ed's Wong was a more pleasurable experience.

The flexicone+ is also too hot for me.
