MiniVAP Vaporizer

Reading these posts, it seems like the consensus is longer tubing with a glass mouthpiece is making the minivap more enjoyable.

There are almost unlimited combinations to add a whip or water.
Longer whip with glass mouthpiece can be MFLB water whip which can be hit as a whip (nice wood handhold and nice glass mouthpiece) or placed in 14 mm bubbler.
Below, it sits in bubbler. Remove from bubbler and straight draw whip. Keep in mind different techniques for different temps. I mix it up all the time but a common theme is straight draws at blue and pink and switch to water for green and red temps

Hi minnbobber, you look like you've got a bit of experience with the mv, I'll be receiving mine tomorrow! Do you or anyone else have any tips? Like best way to load basket?small or big basket?what grind? etc :rofl:think I'll probably end up getting the magic flight orbiter to partner my mv...

The mV experience is a somewhat subjective beast.
I cannot stress enough that, whilst lesser material will give you an effective vaking, huge super visible clouds will only materialise with nice resinous buds, preferably cured to a decent degree.
For instance I grabbed up a new strain today and compared to the bud I had beforehand(super dry and cured for about two month) there is very little visible vapor. Hits like a hammer but needs good light to achieve that highly visible mist. Although, I do intend to cure this batch to a similar degree.
I shall test more on my days off though.
With these points in mind.. Grind, I found matters not as much as the pack, which again is dependent on quality/density of material.
Just my :2c:
Also I'd shop around a little more before deciding on the Magic Flight Orbiter.. Plenty out there. Even in the UK :haw:
Test, test and test.

Almost there...
I decide to write to Hermes and ask a few questions about the new unit.
A very quick response, 1 day!

I mentioned i bought mine from Vapour Nation and the date so he would know what unit i had.

This was his reply:

Vapornation has the previous version than the new heating core, nevertheless those units where checked so doesn't break as the faulty units before.

Although we have been sending some MV with the new heating core and firmware, it has not officially released yet. We are implementing the new changes in the manufacturing process and testing the new heating technology with some beta testers and online customers in order to close the final details and start selling the product normally as a new standard.

If anytime you would like your MV to be updated, send us an email in the coming months.

SO... it looks like the glass core is the new design no matter what.
Kind of weird to send out BETA test units to unsuspecting customers with no notice...
Either way @Kommyknocker looks like we have to buy spare white inserts just in case...

Still intrigued by the glass core though!
Don't think i would send my unit in for an upgrade though, would have to just be the new unit!!

Oh! So I've possibly bought a beta tester unit.? Is that bad or no? also has anyone got any good suggestions on a good bubbler? In the UK and not 2 or £300 something sensibly priced to see if I like it?

Intriguing! I think I'll stick with my teflon one for now, but I plan to think about it if I have a few months to decide, now very interested to hear additional testing reports from glass chamber beta testers!

To those considering "the orbiter" or "arizer water whip", I want to share that I thought the whips where so low quality, with cheap plastic pieces in the airpath (the mouthpieces and a piece that helps push the silicone into the glass) and at least one of the whips I got had glue keeping the silicone attached to the glass, which ripped away when I tugged gently on it to try to dissasemble to clean it.... Was very disapointed and have never even gotten to use the bubbler (I always clean parts before using). I plan to assemble something with it using some Hermes WPA's, flexicone+, and the herbie whip...

Blackleaf euro site had plenty decent pieces that won't break the bank, as does grass city.
Or just nip to you local headshop, you'll perhaps pay a little more but with the benefit of actually seeing/holding the item you may very well spend quite a bit of time with your face attached to it in the future.
Looks like the glass lined chamber gonna be the mew standard eventually so I'd not be too concerned since you're UK based anyhow. Turn around time for shipping your core to Hermes/Vapefiend and back is like 4 to 6 days ime.

@lazylathe
Yeah man gonna order another one soon.. And yes very odd to be sending out what is essentially a beta unit to unsuspecting folk. If the stay close enough to Hermes HQ then Ok, but if they are stateside then... Hmph.

The stock options keep the experience at the floor level, imo, whereas getting better mouthpieces or bubblers in there makes it a top notch experience!
Sticks there are a lot of folks that have shared their setup here and I'm very grateful. I'm salivating with anticipation over this thread like I did before I got my original unit. Still wondering what version is coming.......
Just curious as to what exact setup you are using for mouthpiece/bubblers at the moment. I think you commented a while back so my apologies for the duplication but I figured all the goofing around you probably have been doing with this that something may have changed anyway......

Lots of good information on this thread. Just looking for additional perspective....

I expect you have the glass lining, there's a photo with the two side by side a few pages back, I also have a silver with black lining and glass core, received direct from Hermes in December.

However, as long as you're enjoying it, I suppose it doesn't really matter :D

Hi Sid, this is what mine looks like. Silver with black lining. Is this the Teflon?

I use the small basket because my tolerance is low. I have a SCS grinder which vaires--depending how long you grind. I find it to be very tolerant of med fine to coarse grinds as the airflow really vapes the whole load very evenly. I just shy away from fine particle grind as I don't want those particles falling thru the wire basket and down into the bottom chamber screen---not sure if they would fall thru but I prefer prevention.

Do you have any extra tubing to make a little bit longer whip?
I often use the shorty hard mouthpiece but it can be dry.

With good herb-- fun to go thru all 4 temps, low to high

@mixchu69, that looks like a Teflon lining to me, you got lucky!

I have to admit, It's not great to hear I'm testing the new unit without being asked or even told, to find out from an email to another customer isn't ideal - and how can I test it properly when I've not tried a teflon lined one?

It must be difficult for Hermes, I don't think they're a big company, but they have a supposedly premium product with a premium price, as a customer I don't feel like I've got a premium product and I've certainly not had a premium customer experience!

One thing for sure is that I'm not massively impressed with the taste from my MV, I also still think my battery isn't operating as it should and I've still not received the right coloured cap which I was promised before Christmas!.

Hmmm.

Unfortunately headshops are few and far between where @I.b.vaping is, I'm in the same boat, it's a pain but everything's gotta be bought online.

EDIT ~ Sorry mods, forgot to add this onto the last post and can't see how to delete it!

It's an obsession but it's pleasin'
I've still not received the right coloured cap which I was promised before Christmas!.

I waited almost a month after last contacting Hermes. Then on Friday I sent another email to the same address and got taken care of right away. In my experience with customer service, they don't seem to be very organized and I've had to remind them about things several times. Not saying that's the way it should be...just that it might help to email them again.

Well my first evening with the miniVAP was underwhelming but expectations had been pumped up.

I'll be honest: the only thing I felt differentiated it from my Pinnacle Pro is the wonderfully cool temperature of the vapour through a pair of whips join together, build quality and battery life. I genuinely don't notice anything that warrants the £280 extra over the Pinnacle Pro in terms of how big the clouds are and how medicated I felt afterwards, and I'm not sure the above factors warrant the extortionate price except for the curious. I suppose being stuck in Britain with whatever herbs we can get hold of contribute to that, but if herb quality is the deciding factor, again why did I spend all this money?

I don't like that you have no idea when the battery is charging or charged, when it's on the plate. That's incredible to me when you're paying about £100 for the battery on top of the charging adaptor.

I don't understand why the charging adaptor itself costs an extra £40 on top of the £369 the Portable version costs, now I'm looking at all these bits and pieces.

The first temperature setting appears to be pointless, really. No smell, no taste, nothing. Not sure what it's for.

Taste-wise this is entirely down to the quality of the herb and in the UK I get what I'm given/sold, sometimes it's crystally, smelly and cured crumble-dry; other times it's not cured that much at all. Still, our ABV is if anything ever so slightly lighter in colour than from the PP, even after sucking every last bit of vapour out of a half basket on the top heat setting (starting low and working up).

And as my wife refuses to adapt her practice of 'one draw, pass, until it's done' there wasn't much chance to test the benefits of the convection design that leaves herbs uncooked between draws. (She also has this annoying attitude that if her technique doesn't produce a cloud then it's time to turn it up, even though I'm getting nice enough clouds when it's my go). Certainly couldn't tell you the difference between the MV and the PP in this respect either.

I dunno. It's nice looking. It's sturdy. It's probably going to last a lot longer than the PP did before needing replacing or servicing. But... really, I dunno what I'm meant to be getting from it :(

Hey Stonevape,

you can see the charging progress when you look on the LED from the powersupply.
While loading the LED shows red, afterwards when it`s loaded then it shows green again... Somethime you need to rotate the battery a little to get it in the slot.

Please don`t forget to give the MV a little time when it`s heating up, after the Blinking is finished in Blue.

So it does. Well thanks!

Okay, one less disappointment ;)

Don't get me wrong: it seems like a working vape. I just don't think it's all that amazing. I daresay, frankly, that anyone other than an *extreme* connoisseur would notice that much difference between hits from this and some other vapes, especially if you attached the same mouthpiece to each one to treat the vapour on it's way to your mouth!

@stonevape this is in fact An amazing vape. I usually pick it over the herbalizer which should tell you something about the MV.regarding the first level(blue) I'm not sure why people aren't getting vapor. I get lots of tasty blue vapor everytime.
I say give yourself time. You just got it in the last few days. Wait a week and then post your thoughts. Each vape has it's own quirks. This one is no different. If your looking for clouds I suggest using the MV through water.
Other then that, have fun!

There is a little learncurve that you need to learn by doing in the beginnig...
Try to get more experience and i`m sure you will like it. :)
Different setups or solutions with the MV, is also a big funmaker properly.

Don`t give up Stonevape, hope you get in love soon with this Vaporizer.

You need an hour to fill the Battery and you got nearly 3 hour of vaping time with one charge.
Please let us know, from your 1st experience with it :)

I was able to get a three half bowls from it on about 30 minutes of charging last night :) (from new boxed).

Now i have a bunch of replies to make and am unable to work out how multi quote works! Ah well, to the others who replied, I am trying it alone today, meaning I can try different things without the other half nagging about it being her turn and ruining the experiment! Speaking of whom, I love her but she's terrible with technology: when we went to bed she took the battery off, attached the power adaptor, then sat the MV and adaptor on the charger. Yup. ;)

I am getting more to grips with it. Learning the quirks. I remember being a bit 'hmm, this is it?' with the PP at first too...

But I still get nothing but a light scent from Blue! ;)

I use it with mestizo's adapter and either the vxl dry tube or the fc-187 bubbler.

That's definitely the teflon core.

This is good! You will probably never see abv as dark as the PNP coming from your MV. Enjoy the taste and the efficiency from a convection unit!

You're gonna need some time to know your new vape! I've had at least half a dozen good vapes that were a pain at first. Usually when i come on here and say 'wtf?" after only a day or two, I later get it figured out.

Now i have a bunch of replies to make and am unable to work out how multi quote works!

Highlight the text you want to quote and a quote button will appear right below it. Click that and carry on until you are ready to drop a bunch of quotes in the post box. Then hit the insert quotes button and a list of quotes to choose will pop up.

Hey stonevape glad to hear you're getting to grips with it, I've just put mine on charge but thought I would connect it to the mains just to see if it works!! PROBLEM!!! it's doesn't seem to be working! Press the two buttons together and nothing! Connected a battery to it and tried again, nothing! Please say I'm doing something wrong? Not a good start! Thinking if I got a volcano I might be sitting here with a bag! :bang:
