MiniVAP Vaporizer

Volute of Vapor
Well after trying different combinations I couldnt get around the "priming" of the convection technique affecting my diaphragm AGAIN. So after getting excited like a kid to get now Im gonna have to sell or swap it. Used this new silver one maybe a dozen times too many. Can`t send it back for a refund, will probably lose selling second hand so if the moderator will allow me this once to mention I would like to swap for a working Herbie and take the risk. I dont like water tools since they take away the taste and just irritate my guts more so I gotta stick with fan assisted from now on. Solo being the exception, for whatever reason. If I was ever to get my hands on a Herbie and it worked ok then it would have to satisfy me that the vapor of it with fan assist would have to be better then the vapor from the fan assisted Extreme Q which I not long ago off loaded. Is it??

I agree this unit is made for water filtration imo, it's very difficult to get clouds dry without killing your throat BUT, working your drawing tecnique, you can get nice little clouds and full effects (I was hospitalized some months ago and I enjoyed it a lot, although there is a big learning curve to enjoy it dry)

I don't think the current dry setup provided is sufficient, but I prefer the short straw to the flexicone+ for comfort. I'm using it dry all the time after getting it working well with my VXL dry tube. The good news is it's not the vape, but the air path after the vapor is created, which we can change at will. I would like to see a better dry solution offered, but I also know I am more sensitive than some so I am used to rigging things after the fact (and I have a lot of accessories to play with).

Now that we have the same vape we have some ground to work with. I don't understand what you are saying here, but remember you asking about it in the Herbie thread a while back. What are you trying to avoid that is ruining your experience? All you have to do is breathe. The good news is you have one of the best, easiest to modify and enjoyable vapes I have owned. I think if you can't get it figured out with this one we have a real problem. If we can get this figured out in a couple of posts, great. Otherwise I would rather move this to its own thread.

I agree with the above statement. It's very simple (even if you don't have the accessories like our friend above has) to make a good dry setup.
In other news the pnwt I ordered may arrive today! This will allow me to vape through water more easily on the go as opposed to bringing one of my pieces to vape through (very inconvenient )

Im all ears to suggestions. I used to be able to do long slow drawers and still can to some degree. I find I cant do the long slow draw at start ,up but instead now puff on it like a pipe till a bit of vapor appears and then I do the long slow draw. I find the end result large tasty clouds lacking on mine. If i crank it up to red then the vapor is too hot. I find the hard short mouth piece can get hot easily. I guess Im trying to get across that I can adapt to different vaps I have had probably 8 now and there is a learning curve to all of them at first.
You know when you take a first drag on say a Solo the vapor is there more or less straight away and you can draw till you know your limit and when exhaling you can get good clouds. I find with convection vaps ( eg CERA, Di Vinci Ascent to name two)they always feel that there is too much air to vapor ratio and its all the "air" you gotta suck first before the vapor comes on Its the first part that irritates my guts and I just dont feel the "bite" of the vapor, the taste yes not the "bite" if that makes sense. Haven`t got the lungs anymore to pull large volumes of "air" through WT or whatever like you young bucks.
I really feel In flogging a dead horse here but I am open to suggestions. Have always been wingin` about preffering a fan assisted vap (Herbalizer) should have gone with my "gut" feeling sorry about the pun. Just felt that this one might have been different namely easy vapor start up and bitey and not so airy vapor.

I feel like I would definitely enjoy this vape better if I had some glass to hook it up to.

Not sure what works best with this and how I go about doing so..

Any suggestions?

Best setup IMO is the white piece of silicone (im guessing that's what it is) with the hole in the center. the flexi + fits inside this for a perfect seal. Throw on a screen or two with a basket and she's ready to tango ! The circular piece of silicone previously mentioned fits inside of any 14mm adapter. That's pretty much it..

It's been covered many times in this thread. I highly recommend putting aside some time and read thru the thread from begin to end. I did and it answered many, if not all, the questions I had.

I will say that the best and easiest solution is a lower volume shower head bubbler. You may need a reducer or not to adapt to the flexicone.....but that's it. You have all you need otherwise with what you got in the Mini kit.

I just received my unit last night. I haven't gone thru the entire bag but is there a starters guide? I want the best non water filtration setup. I want to fully taste the herbs and don't want to hassle with it when I'm using it as a portable. Should I just use the silicone straw?

I read the entire forum but forgot what I read. Hehe.

I am getting incredible results using the combination of a cut down flexicone +, the lotus WPA, and a j-hook. the vapor coming through the glass j-hook is cool and comfortable. I'm seeing less value in water filtration these days. the miniVAP has changed the way I vape.

EDIT: So much for that theory lol! If used correctly, the device does indeed deliver vapor on the first hit.

I think -- and please correct me if I'm wrong, jivebuggered -- he's referring to the fact you have to take one or two "blank" hits of hot air to heat up the upper chamber before vapor is produced. This does seem to be an inherent limitation to (most) pure convection vapes. (I haven't used fan-assisted vapes like the Herbie, so I can't speak to those.)

The upside is the taste is significantly better than conduction vapes or hybrid conduction/convection. I remember, when I got my Cloud EVO, I was confused why the taste wasn't quite as robust as the canon/whip vape I'd used previously. I eventually realized that, while the EVO is primarily convection, there's still some conduction that takes place if you let it heat up beyond a certain point.

For me, the trade-off of a few "blank" hits for superior taste is worth it. But I can see how it might be problematic for someone with a sensitive throat and lungs.

Kimura has glass pictured above but I assume you mean glass with water.
Small volume is the key IMO. The vapor is so smooth and tastey but a small
water piece just takes the edge off and adds a little moisture to the dry vapor.

You can search the "cheap glass thread" for ideas. You may also look at Aqua Lab Tech, Mobius glass.
I have the Ion which I'd call small---the "Can" holds about 8 oz volume. The Atom Mobius is even smaller and would be great too. Then you can look for similar styles but cheap Chinese replicas/copies if you want a value piece.

if I let the MV warm up for a while after the blinking light goes solid, with a loaded basket already in the chamber and the lid on, I get vapor on the first hit.
Interesting... could you be more specific? What temp do you have it set on? Do you put the loaded basket in the chamber before turning it on, or do you wait for the light to stop blinking?

I turn it on, set the temp, load up a basket, pop the loaded basket into a flexicone, install the flexicone plus basket into the lid, screw the lid onto the miniVAP, wait for the light to stop blinking, wait ~5 minutes, then hit it. should probably work on all temps, but definitely on green

I think this is the process recommended in the quick start guide that comes with the MV, but I added the part about waiting ~5 minutes...

Just tried this and got vapor on my first hit. Very pleased to stand corrected!

If you build it(a glass straw or similar idea) the tasty vapor will come.

Even just scan through the hundred pages or so, just to look at the multitude of pictures that have been posted.. I'd hope that they should inspire you newer owners to built something awesome to enjoy this beast dry. Most Local head shops stock some glass straws of some kind. Chop up a flexicone + and mod away.

Great activity on the post. A lot of if is stuff people, imo, should be reading in the previous ten pages or so.

Better material equals more vapor. This is very apparent below a certain level of bud.
I re-remembered this when I got some real good stuff. Huge clouds again.

Its a lot smaller than I expected. Looking at the pictures, I thought it was the size of a soda can but it is much smaller. At work,so havenot tried it butwill have some fun this evening. Quite excited.

Any math majors out there, who remember their math / volume formulas AND also own a miniVAP and a Mighty??
I really want to compare :
- volume of the Mighty / how much space does it take up in your pocket/ backpack to
- volume of the mVAP battery piece
- volume of the mVAP electronics / heat chamber piece

Curious if taken apart into two pieces, how is the miniVAP volume vs the Mighty????
