Max the Press ...

Is there some kind of formula for the most BH or bud to press per sq in ?
We put 42 grams of BH into a 3" by 5" pre press mold. Almost 3 grams per sq in.
It seemed to have good recovery like when we pressed 28 grams. <2 grams sq in.
Anyone have an idea of what the max we can press per sq in ?

Depends on the filter strength. 2-3g/sqin is average.

With stainless steel you can go 4-6.

I am having some custom bags made 3" by 7" for a 3" by 6" pre press.
I want to press 50 grams of B.H. ... so I should be good.

Might be tight. When I pack 30g into a 2x4 prepress I need a 2.5x5 bag to fit easily around.

I like the math going bigger.
We powder the B.H. and it works great in my DIY pre press.
