I'm just trying to understand the process. Where they are coming from does concern me. I already own an Herbalizer, though. I just hope everyone that uses this gets the genuine article with full warranty supported by Herbalizer

I have just now contacted both Massdrop and Herbalizer in this regards. Although I do believe that this is a genuine product, I will post the replies I receive.

If anything ordering through massdrop provides additional assurance that one will receive the genuine article and not a counterfeit, at least for myself. I would also imagine that they are typically working directly with the manufacturer when selling a newly-released high tech item such as the herbalizer.

Everything I've gotten off MassDrop has come from and carries the original manufacturer's warranty. Most ship through MD, but a couple of items have been shipped directly from the manufacturer. One item required warranty repair and the company honored the warranty no question.

Sometimes you can get close to the MD price by looking around and if possible using the FC discount. You pay a little more, but you'll get it sooner. Otherwise it can be several weeks after the drop ends before things get to you.

MassDrop must try to get retail dealer costs, like your local head shop gets a retail cost. I suspect ordering more units of anything lowers the cost/unit. So each level of price also has MassDrop's margin built in. Hey, they ain't doin' this for free.

If anyone is curious about the Herbalizer on Massdrop.com currently being sold for $600, a massdrop employee has posted on the drop page.

The Herbalizer being sold on Massdrop.com is the Limited Edition version. Furthermore, the massdrop employee linked to the herbalizer warranty page on herbalizer.com when asked what warranty comes with the item. Thus, both the 5-year quality guarantee as well as the 2-year limited warranty is included.

Anyone here had any experience ordering high valued items from Massdrop to Canada?

I just ordered the herbalizer and was wondering if high valued items are always charged tax upon delivery or is it a hit-and-miss like Canada Post?

One member posted in the herbalizer thread that I should be charged tax but if it's cleared by Canada Post, its usually a hit-and-miss for me. If it's cleared by UPS Mail Innovations, I would think it will be taxed. Let me know and thanks in advance :)

Please keep in mind that MD quite often grey-markets their stuff, and does NOT always get permission from the manufacture. So you would be buying a unit through an unauthorized channel and thus receive no manufacturers warrantee.


PS: The JyARz MD is legit however, as Aldo authorized it. So go grab some JyARz if you haven't already! :)

Excellent point, didn't we just have an episode of this? That is a group buy 'fell apart' because the maker wasn't involved?

The lower price for a longer wait trade off is attractive to many for sure, but there may be a (hidden) downside should something go wrong down the road. PIU (and no doubt other legitimate dealers) will price match, at least in a lot of cases, and can also be your best friend in the whole unfair world should someday your baby fail you. IMO supporting such dealers is a good thing. I consider the $160 shipped a great offer from PIU which is why I got my last several Solos there. I've made a few 'ghost buys' for other fellows you see......

I don't believe the items on MD are grey market.

I've made several purchases, all OEM with warranties. MD negotiates directly with the manufacturer for a set low price before offering the item. One maker even offered a longer warranty as part of the drop.

I know they had a problem with a Simba glass product due to poor manufacture by the company. I wasn't part of that drop, but as I recall there was dissatisfaction with the manufacturer's response and MD wound up offering compensation on their own.

No doubt there are problems with some of their products, but all of these gizmos have some problems or drawbacks.

Mostly it seems to come down to personal preference and experience. You'll be getting an OEM product...with all its pluses and minuses.

Agree for sure. The wait/price tradeoff can certainly be a factor.

Other than that I'm pretty sure you get an original (or better) warranty. I can attest that in my case the manufacturer honored the warranty and replaced a defective unit for an MD purchase.

IMO worth checking on. Like I said, while I don't recall the details not long back there was a MD 'deal' that was generating a lot of interest (Solo maybe??) that the maker of the vape announced he was not part of and the deal fell all apart. Had he not spoken up, a lot of folks would lined up to buy vapes with no support.

IMO it'd be a shame if someone saved a dozen or more bucks but later found out they were SOL when something comes up. Perhaps and OK risk, but it should be known.

As Mae West famously said, 'you pays your money and takes your choice'. I just think it should be an informed choice.
