Have there been any studies done between the two?
I know marijuana is an expectorant and opens up the bronchial tubes but smoke and even vapor is an irritant so it seems counterproductive. Perhaps edibles is best in this situation.
The reason I ask is because I stopped smoking and vaping for over a year. Recently over the past 2-3 weeks I started up again and became a daily user. I was vaping for about 2-3 weeks before my vaporizer stopped working. I could definitely feel the negative effects on my lungs after that time though I don't think this is what caused my issues.
Anyway, after the vaporizer broke I resorted to smoking. I smoked for only 3 days (about a total of 6 times). Every time I smoked it would DESTROY my throat and lungs and would have me coughing like crazy. I ended up getting a sore throat which turned into a cold which turned into acute bronchitis. It seems like any positive effect marijuana has on the lungs is counteracted by the smoke.
