Okay the fruits of my labor...
I had the same issue some of the other first-timers had, I was not prepared for efficient filtering of the end product. The irony is that I usuaally have cheesesloth, and had recently used it up. So I used the stariner for a bit, of course it became hopelessly clooged, then a coffee filter, worse. Luckily I found a nylon sprouting bag to salvage probably 80-90% of what I made, reasonably filtered. Next time it will be much more efficient as I already have mo' betta cheesecloth (finer, more consistent). Anyways here it is, 3 parts butter 2 parts coconut oil; theis is more than half of what I made in a qt. mason jar:
Then I made some tried and true cookies, but I had worked out a substitute for the 2/3 shortening a long time ago, now I'm using this stuff and I upped the fat content about 50%. I used white flour and a bit of flax meal, but they turned out brown because I am using coconut sugar for the first time. So the whole thing was an experiment, and they pretty much came out the way I expected with the extra fat:
The cookies are banana chocolate chip, in addition to a cup of mj buttah and 2 cups of flour and a couple of eggs and the coco sugar there's about 3 good-sized bananas in the mix. Usually there's crunchy peanut butter in them but not this time. I ended up with about 40, when I was checking them for doneness I had one in my mouth before I knew it. I'll freeze most of them because of the fresh banana.
They're awesome, the cardamon/cinnamon just competes enough with the herbal taste to be complimentary. I made a non-mj batch before with too much fat and they spread out like this, they're actually pretty good that way and I've been meaning to do it again so this was a great opportunity. I'll end up freezing most of them because of the fresh banana.
Anyways they're pretty potent, gonna have another one right before a late supper but I'm pleased; they appear to be as strong as any space cake I ever had in amsterdam. Well maybe two cookies, I've had some pretty damn potent space cakes. We'll find out soon enough...
