Ive been making qwiso with a french press, strainer, and 2 unbleached coffee filters. Im trying to speed up the filtering process because it takes over 9 mins 2 filter. Looking for tips from some qwiso vets

Possibly too much filtering going on? I have recently stopped using coffee filters. I'm now using the strainer, followed by a finer strainer, followed by the French press. It seems to work better for me.

IME coffee filters are overkill. A folded paper towel removes all visible material. It does its job though but the alc creeps toward the edge as it saturates. Just have to cut off excess and keep an eye on it.

When I made QWISO exclusively, I'd do a little at a time. This seems to help with clogging. I also rub my finger around the filter to free up clogs and get the iso dripping again. Then squeeze it out at the end.

You can also strain off the bulk of plant material with a wire strainer then go to a finer filter. This should also speed it up a bit.

BTW
Have you ever done a butane extraction? I used to do QWISO or QWET until I built up the courage to try butane. IME It is superior in every regard. As long as you are not an idiot (if you had to ask yourself...)
then its safe and easy.

I have heard about butane and read up about it but it seems you need a expensive set up to purge off the extra bhutane and there is contaminates in the butane if you dont buy the right one. But im open to new and better methods

checkout the aeropress coffee maker. it is basically a giant syringe filter. Add a 10 micron SS filter and you're all set.
