Looking to Maximize Effect - Amount vs Potency

Hi Everyone.

I've seen a little discussion here and there regarding tolerance, breaks, and finding the right regimen that will maximize the effects of cannabis. Whether it be the amount and/or frequency of use, I have not seen much discussion regarding potency.

I've been vaporizing Pink Kush, 22% THC. nightly. It works very well, and my usual nighttime dose is .12 g, sometimes less, rarely more. I was more responsive to it at first and then my tolerance shifted slightly. Since I vaporize daily, perhaps using a strain with less THC will slowly tip the scales back in the other direction and re-sensitize my receptors?

Basically wondering if you medicate more often, would using a weaker stain help keep tolerance in check? That way you could continue to use the same amount daily because you've adjusted the potency instead?

The most effective way is changing stains. The more strains you have the better. When you come back to a strain you have not done for a while it is almost like the first time.

I never really noticed a difference but yesterday, I started with .08 of Headband. About 5 hours later I tried .09 of Spacebomb for the first time in a while and I was shocked by how well it worked. So mixing is definitely a good idea! I'll have to figure out what is the best rotation time for myself.

Any thoughts on lowering THC% instead of changing the weight?

Which completely screws me up because I always make salads. :uhoh:
I always recall your profile by certain key words. You had me at salad. LOL. I can't believe I have never tried that, and I have had plenty of opportunity for months. I'm going to give that a whirl and let you know, Lwien.

Your thoughts on lowering THC vs amount used? Would it work?

I would think so. BTW, switching strains definitely worked for me as well.

Oh, and one other thing. Switching vaporizers or how you use a particular vape also works. Not only switching temps but switching delivery methods. As an example, with my LSV, I notice a boost in affect if I switch from vapor bonging to using the transfer wand and visa versa.

It's kinda like switching up your exercises. Your body AND your mind is really good at adapting to changes and then making that change normal. You want to constantly challenge that.

What's a salad? Mix of strains together?

I think spacing out your sessions makes the biggest difference. Take a day off here and there, or a week is even better. If you can that is.

Yes, mixing strains is a salad.

I do agree that taking a day off here and there helps a bunch and is the reason that I only vape 5 nights a week now.

One sesh (3 to 4 hits) and I typically never vape before 9:00 at night.
I found that makes all the difference in maintaining a low tolerance for me.. I don't have a low tolerance, and always wake-n-bake :D.. Not too long ago I found it necessary to only vape in the evenings during weekdays, and in about a week my tolerance was insanely low, even though I hadn't stopped vaping daily.. One bowl was getting me really baked and 2 would lay me out! My tolerance was so much lower that even on the weekends, when I'd allow myself to vape as much as I wanted, I'd hardly even vape all that much.. It was nice.. I did that for a while and I took care of some things, but I stopped doing that gradually and now my tolerance is back to where it was .. I was effortlessly making a gram last me a week, and that was amazing to me! Plus I welcomed the extra focus and increased drive that came w/ not vaping until the evenings.. I plan to start doing that again in the future, but I just like playing w/ vapes too much to do it right now :freak:

@Buildozer - fucking awesome post man...thanks! I'm on 5 day completely herb free and need a plan to keep my tolerance down and you have helped tremendously! I can SO relate to your experience and like playing with vapes too much LOL Fortunately my VAS has been quelled, and i'm really starting to enjoy the sober side of life.

Ok my stash is running low and plants won't be down for a while if I keep vaping the rate I have bean I will run out way before my crop is down so as of today on going to try not vaping till after 7 and im going to try to vape as lil as possible per night see how long the rest of this jar can last me

Normal vaping for me is wake and bake and probs 1-2g a day if I can get that down to .5-1g a day my stash should last humm maybe I should go see how much have and then work out how much I can budget so it will last

Glad it was helpful  I got the idea from @Seren.. well, I stole it actually :D It really works out well, especially if you put your new clear-headed free time to use! Cutting out wake and bakes and waiting until the end of the day to vape, makes a huge difference on how lazy I am about the rest of my day  Speaking of wake-n-bakes.. It's about that time! :D

Good Luck Man :peace:

I like the idea of changing up the methods. Right now I only use the Plenty. I am hoping to get a portable soon. Maybe that would work too.

I don't really feel a degradation in medical benefits as far as tolerance goes, It always makes me feel better.. However I get most lifted when my routine is out of whack. So I try and make my very monotonous schedule work by never allowing myself to medicate at the same time. I recently started this and it's working pretty good. Only thing is I always wake&vake otherwise it's nausea central

@kidfated - fucking awesome point about "routine"....I think this is a huge part of the psychological aspect. The body is so damn adaptable and it's important to keep it guessing, kinda like "muscle confusion" in order to grow muscles, it's best not to do the same exercises over and over again. With respect to your nausea, a couple of things.... did you have this before cannabis? It could very well be a symptom of withdrawal especially if you are constantly doing wake and bakes, and then stop. Further to that, if you drink coffee like a freak - that could forsure be your culprit. I've had issues in the past with coffee that made me sick for a month, when I first started drinking coffee about a year ago. Coffee can be acidic and irritate the stomach lining....what I had was called dyspepsia and the dr. attributed it to coffee. The kind of coffee makes a difference as well, depending on the roast, as well as what you put it in. I never drink coffee without heavy 35% whipping cream. Yum!

Damn, the longer I go without vaping, the less i'm craving it?

Just throwing my :2c: in for whats its worth: Since i buy rogue weed, i never know the strain, much less the % so always a surprise. With my butters, i have measured a basic dosage that works across the board. However, i am playing with potency on my next batch. I have a low potency batch from double infusing that i will mix with fresh herb and see how that affects potency. I will post results in the edible threads when i get them:leaf:

Yes, mixing strains is a salad.

This is a nice tidbit to know and since i never know what strain i am getting and they differ with every procurement... i would say i am on the "salad" train myself by default!

As to vaping, literally 1 or 2 times a week and butter about the same. I treat it like wine and beer...just cause i can doesn't mean i should! My end of day choices are either a kale smoothie or a tall glass of chlorophyll water.

Edited to add: i just realized this thread is in the medical section so please dont be offended that i posted on recreational use - my apologies!

How do you have such great discipline? I suppose we are all wired differently, but I so envy your will power and responsible usage! I mean, could you only have sex 1 or 2 times per week? Nevermind, I know the answer. :brow:

Mmmmmmm.....chlorophyll water...LOL.....deoderant for the INSIDE!

My tolerance has plateued at a nice level, and I am maintaining it by only vaping 1 or 2 hits a day. If I do have more than 1-2 hits I do not feel guilty or worries that my tolerance will be ruined, because my level of tolerance allows for a little wake&bake or extended-sesh here and there, because I am always prepared to make up for it by limiting my access to weed for a small time after the 'increased intake' periods of vaping :)
I also take small breaks by intentionally not bringing my portable on long trips, drives or family occasions. I also do NOT bring a packed vape with me to work unless I'm feeling as if I deserve a little treat to add some excitement to this strange life.
I can tell straight away if my tolerance has been effected because I just don't get as high as i'd expect from a hit, and this usually turns me off weed for a day or two and acts as a useful natural deterrent from abusing it's magical properties again :)

So overall I sit at a comfortable LOW tolerance and low intake, but can also unexpectedly vape all day and night without annihilating myself. My blood has a constant percentage of THC in it (and proud of it!)

As a side note also, I love hearing about friends (all bong smokers) saying they are 'detoxing from weed' so often.. Every week I hear complaints. "My lungs hurt, headaches, muscle pain, weakness, coughing, anxiety, etc etc"

Last time I checked, THC is not a neurotoxin so what do they think they are detoxing from? Oh that's right.. all the junk that is created during combustion..
