So ANY wood vape is a Log Vape, whether active or passive, battery, plug in, or Torch? Would a Lotus with it's mostly wood cap be considered a log vape too?

No logs are like Underdogs, E-Nano, Purple Days, MRZ, HI normally made out of a log and rounded with a heater in the center. They are commonly used with stems like straws and drinks.

I think of the Hammer as a log like because it connects with a heat port and stem of similar fashion.

lol........I remember the very first time that the Purple Days was referred to as a "log" vape. It think it was the very first time that term was ever used with any vaporizer and for some odd reason, I really didn't like my PD referred to as a log. I kinda rebelled against that whole description.

Just to clarify, though, a vaporizer is, ultimately, only a heat source.

Really. It's a heat source. that's all. All the rest of the bells & whistles are just extras. The heat is the main point. Heat, applied to herbs, produces vapor.

So, the best vaporizer in the world then, is a constant (or instant, immediate, or easily obtained), reliable, controllable heat source that works with how you want to use the vapor produced. If you want glass, you pick glass. If you want wood, you pick wood. If you are good with whips, you get something that uses a whip.

I like my ENano because it is easy for me to use, and I can use it a few different ways, with different stems, etc.

I own a VXL EVO. It's nice, too, but it's a bit of a bother to pull out and use, and it seems more like taking an elephant gun to a duck hunt. Mostly misses the point... and, flavor is meh.

I have a Hammer. I adore my Vapman. I love my ElevapeSV. They reliably provide heat, and a way for me to get the vapor from the herbs. They all have their perfect niche in my life.

Underdogs are less known than the enano but equally good. Depending on the wood, some are less than $200. I think my first UD was around $140. They come with 4 stems of your choice- including one for water. I've never needed to adjust my heat but you can get something inexpensive to do that.

OK, so there are a lot of different views of what makes a Log vape. Several all (or mostly) wood vapes that are referred to as log vapes (like MFLB) are NOT turned on a lathe from an actual log. Many are cut from a block of wood, not a log. Maybe they shouldn't be called log vapes. So, would a Lilly be a log vape, or a Daisy?

I'm coming up on a year of vaping and I'm just honing my knowledge... ;)

No, its the heater design that truly makes it a log, any wood vaporizer isn't a log. Only the ones that act and look like the OGs E-Terra, Purple Days, Woodeez, Toast Top, HI, Underdog, EV-1, E-Nano, Hot Pod. The Solo is commonly thought to also be log like due to the stem placed into a heat port design. A vape where you place a stem to a heatport housed in a wooden cylinder is what people mean when they reference a log or log design. Again, any wooden vaporizer is not a log.

Some people have personal definitions of log vapes such as calling a Solo or a Hammer a log vape or even a MFLB. None of those are actually log vapes. If you look at pictures of the log vapes mentioned (underdog, enano, HI,) they all look the same pretty much. The exception is the toasty top but it's just a different shape. They are all simple to use with no buttons or batteries. Just plug them in, let them warm up, and use whatever stem you like including ones for water connection. Currently, if they don't look like these pictures and don't plug in they aren't log vapes.

Kinda thought the AromaZap and the other one made from jasper or marble or some other kinda rock/mineral.. Rockzap?... anyway, I'd classify them as "log" vapes, since they have the stem-to-heat systerm.

Both have that same wood outside layer. It looks like UD is repairing those and others that are no longer around. They look really beautiful.

The RockZap got its' name from an experiment of using a concrete type mix for insulation. That was replaced with ceramic.

I first dismissed a "log" vape when I was getting into vaporizing for various reasons. Now, I'll never be without one. I also recommend them as a "first" vaporizer. For many, like myself, they fit the needs perfectly. For others that require something different, they still find a use for one.

For around $200, it pays for itself quite quickly in efficiency.
