Liberation day - US Vapes

I’m in the USA, and while I in no way support tariffs, and honestly have no idea how it will or has affected the price or vapes I’m interested in, but it’s screwed up my cost of living enough that vas is probably going to have to wait until the politicians die off.

Individual gift giving is not (for now) subject to the same restrictions as actual trade. This suggests that there may be ways for us (as consumers) to circumvent these (business focused) laws. War is over if we want it etc.

Whoa, 104% tariff on China. That should be interesting for the likes of Healthy Rips, POTV One, Lobo, Boundless and probably several more. At least some vaporizer buyers will learn in real life that tariffs on China are not paid by China.
Fuck around and find out, Trumpers!!! Not sure how any Cannabis supporter could ever agree with the orange cult.

Fairly sure they were explicitly trying to eliminate buccaneers on signal recently.

They failed. Same as their predecessors. The "pirates" still have full control over the Red Sea. Every ship bound for Israel or flying under an American or Israeli flag is sent the long way around Africa.

I know it's hard for some of you but please take the politics elsewhere. The topic is:

A question for those not in the US. Liberation day is upon us, and tariffs have been applied around the world.

Do you feel any different about buying US Vapes?
Will it make you think twice about buying a US vape?
Will you be hit with increased prices due to reciprocal tariffs?

Or will all of this make no difference to you at all?

Hope we can have a civilised conversation about this subject and keep it nice.

Edit: I thought I'd take a shot at this.

Since VAS is a distant memory for me, I won't feel different because I'm not interested in buying anything from anywhere. If I were, however, I have made many friends in the industry from the US. I would not turn my back on them because Trump might be having a tariff day.

Everyone will pay more because of this trade war. As long as Trump keeps things unstable, you can be sure you will see prices rise. Fortunately, cannabis these days is a domestic product for most of us so the effects of the tariffs should be minimal. Can you imagine what kind of tariff Trump would slap on Mexican ditchweed?

Maybe we should start asking questions like, "does convection or conduction pair better with dirt:hmm:"

Looks like eBay.

if they are using GSP, your pay shipping and taxes upfront to eBay.

Money won't be going to the seller. Shipping figure will differ depending on your country and taxes (or tariffs).

I don't think UK is getting tariffed too hard currently. I have tried to cut American products and services out of my life from big corporations, simply due to not wanting to financially contribute to what I see as a soon to be Authoritarian Christo-fascist state. The corporations have red hands due to their lobbying money advancing things this far in the first place. I wish I cut out Amazon and their ilk out a long time ago.

I have no qualms buying vapes from American suppliers and artisans though. Good people. I hope people's businesses make it through this insanity.

I probably should have read the OP before hitting the vape, but surely it's the US buyers whom are most directly effected?
It's tariff's on US imports being applied. And in the UK they've not announced any intent to set tariff's in response, so I don't think we are effected so much over here, beyond the international shipping chaos due to the lack of predictability and consistency (not to mention when the importing of raw materials starts to impact some US manufacturing).

Or am I missing something? 🤔

I believe right now our illustrious govt is also trying to limit what Chinese sellers can use the US Postal Service. It least that's what I've personally seen. So i looked at some recent purchases and last mile is not USPS but private people they hire to do deliveries. There is new transport hub so it seems like China is getting clever and setting up their own US distribution network like Amazon did to bypass USPS. But it has been slower than normal.

I did do business with one company in Shenzen (the vaporizer capital in China) and that is a separate story, but only took 1 week from ordering to arrive .

Interesting article i found https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...ld-holds-its-breath-as-health-concerns-spiral

But the thing this article confirms what i always thought. In the mind of both the general public & govts there is NO distinction between tobacco vaping, E-cigs and the vaporization of Cannabis .

I assume you're in the UK and sht is just really crazy here, its not gonna change it will be a SHTshow. Do you hear about all our SHT over there beyond just the UK - US relationship?

I don't think that is your govt. I have not had Canada Post deliver an AliEpress package for a year, maybe two. They have really done a good job optimizing shipping and delivery. What used to take 4+ week is now about 11 days. Slower than normal may be due to the increased amount being shipped before the tariffs fully kicked in.

Good source mostly, but this article's a bit out of date now? It's over five years and attitudes can change fast.

Yeah, you assume correctly, for my sins. Most people (Brits?) barely know what's in the most crude News sources around, and those that do it's mostly UK oriented, or just dumb reporting on overseas (going for sensationalism to make themselves feel superior - something the Brits need to do since losing the empire down the back of a sofa). So yeah, I hear all about the shit over your side o' the pond, but only because I care to bother finding the better sources.

The Guardian is usually one of the best, not being owned by an oligarch with ulteria motives unlike most other newspapers, and although it's tagged as a socialist paper, that's not the same definition as socialist in the US I think (by a long chalk!). The BBC isn't bad either, though probably actually better for overseas news, as it can be a bit reluctant to criticise certain UK orgs and people. Both tend to be fairly good on fact checking.

By the way, I do trust you all know Trump, in his usual fashion, mispronounced "Liberation Day" - he intended to say "Libation Day"!
Which seems to me to explain the chaos far better? Cheers!! 🍷🍸🍹🍺🍻🥂🥃
