I'm on my 2nd actual run with Kleen Xtract. I started following this thread a while ago and just lurked.

I ordered only a gallon to start to see what I could do with it.

So far, I've:

- Winterized / Dewaxed existing BHO (Turned out pretty decent)
- 2 fresh nug runs with Kleen Xtract only

I'll post some pictures here shortly. The very first run I did with just KleenX and buds turned out pretty decent.

Tech:

- Kleen Xtract in deep freezer
- Bag of very dry bud in freezer
- Two 2 cup mason jars in freezer
- One measuring cup with strainer in freezer
- 1st run was a 9 minute wash (agitating every 3 minutes for 10 seconds)
- 2nd run was a 6 minute wash (agitating every minute for 6 minutes)

Haven't weighed the yields as of yet. I'll post more soon.

I will say that the quality from the first run was surprisingly decent. Very nice amber type glass and it didn't feel like a horse kicked me in the chest. It was very smooth and there wasn't all that much taste.

Edit - I put "3" cup mason jar instead of "2" cup.

Does anyone here happen to know the contact information for KleenXtract? No email address is listed on their main website, none in the confirmation email on my purchase, and I've tried through Facebook to no avail. Any help would be appreciated so I can see what the hold up is on my order. Thank you.

*EDIT* DERP, sorry guys, it's right on their main page now at bottom. Maybe it was cause I was on mobile.

KX has great customer service IMO. I recieved a gallon with some missing cuz of a crappy cap/thread. They offered to double my next order. I reordered MONTHS later and they were true to their word. 2 gallons for the price of one!

Evaporate either using a hotplate/induction cook top ("fast") or just let the alcohol evaporate out at room temperature ("slow").

i used to not think that vac purging QWET necessary. until my last run. i did nothing different and normally get clear amber shatter. this last time tho i think i needed to vac purge. it wouldnt shatter up and looked like brown sludge. it really put me off until i tasted it. it still tasted amazing, but looked like shit.

im pretty sure there was some ethanol still in there. id like to invest in a vac setup. my problem is that i can buy errl cheaper than i can extract it myself.

vac purge SHOULD take your QWET from great to amazing.

Maybe it was something wrong with the bud? I ran some bud that I'm 50/50 whether it was grown with PGRs and a portion of that run didn't shatter and was very cloudy.

it very well may have been. im not really sure how dangerous trace amounts of ethanol can really be, but i still would like to cop a vac setup.

Older/dry/partially decarbed herb can lead to darker, runnier oil. I had a bunch of super old material that I did a run of qwet on. It was definitely fully purged but it yielded a dark runny sap. It wasn't so nice to dab but it made great edibles, topicals, and liquidized ECig juice.

Ethanol isn't good for the lungs but I'm sure trace amounts wouldn't do anything. I vac purge but cuz I use everclear and a slow evap but want to make sure all of the water and ethanol is out.

So being that I have been using everclear, should I give this stuff a shot? I like the idea of it. Been lurking and looking for a while. I had heard some bad stuff early on with ship times. These guys have their stuff together now? Based on the last few pages I'm leaning towards givin it a shot. Looking for someone to push me in the direction of buy. The above pics look nice n clean. I don't know. Thoughts?

well its def a proven product for sure. lots of satisfied customers here on FC and pics to prove it. id say weigh the availability of EC or KX and whichever works out best is your best bet. they are pretty much identical. i know that KX is a higher percentage of alcohol, but as has been discussed in the past, it starts to absorb moisture as soon as it is introduced into the air. so how much of an advantage it could be is probably minimal really. you probably couldnt tell much of a difference.

EC is VERY available where i am and for cheap. i would def love to try KX, but it would cost more so i have not.

Not very. They sell machines to vaporize alcohol recreationally. Now of course its not safe just because they sell it, but people are vaporizing shot after shot of alcohol, not just once. Repeated many days/years. I don't think your QWET is even worth stressing about the PPM of alcohol.

Thanks 2clicker, you settled it for me. I think I will stick with the EC.

Great thread! I was looking for a Kleenx discussion! I just picked up 10 gallons from FedEx depot (said they could not deliver to a home address) and after paying the $700 dollars, was looking for ANY info on how to recover and reuse this product. Anyone have any experience with a still for recovery? Yes, I just ordered a still too! Buds are near ready; still not ripe...I will be making CBD oil.

Thanks for any help...they told me it begins to evap @ 78 degrees, so I guess very minimal heat will be necessary to recapture the solvent?

I believe it reclaiming ethanol involved a still and/or rotovap + cold trap. Don't take my word for that, it's prob wrong.
