So apparently my stuff came today! Which is unfortunate because I'm out of town at the moment...

Luckily my friend has the package in safekeeping. I will test it out with a few grams of various different types of concentrate and report my findings. First I need to get a new APV.

I expected the package to arrive on Monday... pleasant surprise of course. I'll be able to try it out sometime tomorrow (Saturday)

Well I'm helping a friend clear a bunch of equipment from his family's property, so it's not exactly a good time... but we have a rig here so it's not bad at all. Ordered some pizza too.

My friend says it contained that glass cone-shaped topper with the bent mouthpiece, a ceramic disc with Ti mesh, and 2 other coils, plus a container I think? Not sure.

What do you mean by left lung?

Question from my friend: why does the Ti Gr2 pad fall out so easily? Is it meant that way? Can the cartridge be used without it?

yes the titanium falls out for 2 reasons -- if not -- it will be all sticky once u done with 2 seasons and u will be trying to dig it out and probably damage so we made smaller so you can just turn upsipe down on your KindMD DABPAD and u good to go --

now also why does it come out -- ????

well -- it is generation one --- and if I could show what I was supposed to be testing today (OHH BOY __ LETS SAY ANY HIGH HEAT DAB PEEPS WILL FINALLY BE VERY VERY HAPPY - generation 2 )

but on the one you have the ceramic element and it is on the bottom with airflow through the middle and through the titanium2 mesh sponge ! -- this is great for this oil and convection type low temp dab / vaping !!! but i have had issues with certain things getting STUCK
- basically -- you let the concentrate melt into the mesh -- and then you heat up to your vape level -- and at that point it will start vaping consistent ! when the convection in cup is at correct temperature (next version has thermal base to help with extra heat !!!)
- THis style of aromatherapy and VAPING -- IMO you get smaller sweeter hits and of course hits full of a mix of a drop more air mixed with vapor which is really nice ! I like it a lot !

but remove that titanium2 sponge ! and you have closest to a true dab (for now -- shhhhhh)--- throw some oil or shatter inside -- maybe even smear it on the inside wall of the cup --- give its few pulses n let the concentrate melt down drop -- then press that button and boom -- if you do long enough it turns orange like a titanium nail ! but it instantly vapes and gives a larger and hotter of course hit !
IMPORTANT
when using without wick as a true dab style direct hit -- is tastiest when clean and cleaning is discussed a fgew posts back and is easy -- and if worse comes to worse you can burn it clean as new !!!!!

but when using without the wick please -- especially until the next gee ration use the new CAP all the time -- -- it is not the glacier style cap -- -- sorry guys n gals - lol - but FUNCYION IT HAS
- it is shaped as it is for a reason - that combined with the side and the middle deep hole is made to create an interesting cyclone type effect inside ! because the coil heats up n cools so fat -- your pulls of air will cool down your medicine right away which is nice ! and the tycoon /cyclone - lol -- effect keeps the next hit for you on the sides so it does not touch the bottom until you are ready --
it is a nice option
again -- nota place to drop 1/2 a gram at once --- but great for huge tasty hits -- or slow convection style hits with the wick ---

** if anyone has issues with the wick not running the thicker oils / wax through all the way at first it DOES takes a bunch of oil to fill it up - just especially the 1st time of course !
and after the first time it will allow distribution much easier just start out at lower voltage / temp and work up 2 where u need to be -- sometimes we flip the wick over which sometimes helps get the flow going a drop faster -- but only as last resort !

i will add more tips but i hope this helps get started !

i would recommend where u have nice supply of oil/wax --- give a few direct hits off the ceramic element -- make a lil snake and run it right on top you may have a dab reminder !

-but some recent test "fails"
maybe we can adjust -- or find a new idea within -

but we tested 6 different concepts this week -- only 4 move forward ---

the 2 that stay on the shelf for now anyways ....

1) Kindstone/airstone "rolling pin" --- hollowed out airstone with titanium 2 coil inside instead of -- well the current set up ---- with airstone wick in the middle of the titanium2 coil --- this one had airflow going through the middle and the titanium2 touched the airstone all around on the outside --- it actually had fairly good performance -- but with the extra airstone being used -- it held a lot of material inside (good news) -- but also conducted a lot of heat so burned all the oil that was waiting in the wick to burn !
this maybe can be revisited with a newer material (especially with the newer wicking materials we have found for future lines !) -- this could be pulled off shelf --- especially when i show u guys the photo -- i think it will help u get the picture of it ! lol ----

2) standard setup -- but trying 2 use quartz again as wick ---- we tried once before about year ago but thought maybe other reasons caused issues --- but now that we have airflow and everything worked out --
we tried again with nice quartz wick used just as our current airstone wick --
and it really didn't do much for performance --- We actually had much better results when removing he wick altogether ?? it was a pretty setup with the quartz until you started using -- it really isn't porous so we hoped it would simply help run the oil through -- but it also conducted heat pretty well so instead of directing oil or of course not being able to absorb such as ceramic/airstone/cotton .. etc. it just would try and get as hot as the titanium2 until it could vape the medicine itself-- so in turn this also caused a burning of material situation !

these 2 did not make it to the next level at KindMD-- n just wanted to share with the team ! but if anyone has other ideas --- by all means let us know ---
we tried adjusting sizes and angles with no luck with the two above -
but we are always trying to adjust or fix something we hoped may work --

Man, to be a fly on the wall in your shop... Glad to hear things continue to roll forward.

In any event, My day 1 order arrived perfectly on schedule- TODAY!
Note to anyone not following this thread closely, it was announced earlier that future orders from the west coast (Kind is in New York) will be shipped priority and thus arrive in 2-3 days instead of the 4-6 of first class mail.

I ordered one of each atomiser- both resistances of the Ti coil atty's and a ceramic. I decided to start with the ceramic because I was excited for it (with no Ti2 wick)- so i threw it on my SXK nebula (Temperature Coefficient of Resistance adjustable temperature control mod) and gave it a whirl. I opted for a temperature target of 220C (pretty low) and 10 watts. For whatever reason the atomizer read at .91 ohms (perhaps i needed to tighten it more)- but anyways, I was seeing ~3.2v throughout the hit. With the straight through airflow of the ceramic atty, I pulled pretty slowly and enjoyed the relative lack of resistance. Vapor temperature was comfortable, with the exhale showing fairly diffuse vapor- but then i didn't load much so this was expected.

To be honest, my first reaction was "I needed to pre-clean my cartridge of machine oil"- the taste was just that different from anything I have expereinced with the Tertra Labs Pure Gold I vape. But then it occured to me that machine oil doesen't taste even a little bit like the vaguely peppermint taste i was getting. I frankly had no idea what to make of it, so as the effects began to kick in, I threw in the Ti2 Wick and loaded some more Pure Gold.

This time I turned the power down to 8.5 watts and decided to try a Temperature coeffficient of Resistance of 60 (default from the first hit was 70) As it turned out, this resulted in no modulation of wattage (the temp control didn't kick in) even when the temperature calcuation hit the 220 i had set it at, so i suspect I didn't have the atomizer screwed in far enough. With this hit, I had a similarly diffuse exhale, but even more of this new, totally unfamiliar, vaguely peppermint-esque flavor. At this point I decided to jump on the Kind MD website and look at the article that describes terpenes- and sure enough, the limonene entry lists its presence in peppermint and citrus. So apparently I've only just discovered what Pure Gold actually tastes like- limonene (Pure Gold is composed of 9% limonene, 2% "unspecified terpenes," and no others)

So first impressions, pretty much as I expected- making the competition (other ecig mod-powered cartridges/atomizers) look (or should i say taste) bad. There, I said it. Time to give away my divi... well, lets not name names here, but sure enough, the Kind MD ceramic donut, purpose-built for concentrate vaping, totally outperforms the designed-for-RDAS (rebuildable e-liquid atomizers) ceramic donuts used by the competition. Now, how can i make the assertion that other donuts are repurposed e-cig tech?

Now here's a review of the prototypes of those, if anyone is curious what they were originally designed for:

It's a simple design- nickel wire sealed inside alumina ceramic, and was fairly quickly repurposed for concentrates. It's got nothing on the Kind MD ceramic atomizer though.

I haven't tried the Ti2 coil atomizers yet (i bought both resistances), but now my expectations are high. Other atomizers of similar design i have tried (Ti2 wrapped around a porous ceramic wick) had someting of a hotspot effect, even under temperature control. I don't know if the wick was getting to hot or the coils were just too widely spaced/too high of a wire gague, but every hit tasted a bit burnt. At this point i'm pretty much thinking "I wonder what this design is like when it's been done right"?

I must admit I wanted to wait till you received b4 I discussed any batteries especially temp control with the new ceramic disk ! I was not sure if it was going to work on your fancy fancy TC unit /mod but I am happy that it even does recognize .... i wasn't sure since as all these companies are pushing out new systems in TC every day & some are working and others are hinky ! but we will list and keep updated and try to make as compatible as possible !

so far .. you (mpz) seem to be at the forefront of using temp cont to maximize your concentrates and it has built a fire under me ! I love reading and hearing how you are going about it ! big huge up up !!!!

and super interested on the settings you used --since in the situation with the ceramic and TC --
lets remember -- there is no titanium in generation1 ceramic cart (for the standard titanium settings) but with about 200 settings on your new box I was so very interested in how it read !!!
and what setting it used -- etc.
of course we are working to make future set ups -- not only have no solder ..etc.. but we want to of course make it with the best set-up to be able to be used on as many mods as possible ..


even b4 you received MPZ ... when you discussed the allergies and the type of concentrate you used -- you had me so interested as well - I assumed it was C02 made ?? since it does usually strip lots/most of terpenes but keeps all the POWER of the different THC and CBD's --
and then after corresponding back and forth with Tetra and another west coast oil company I found that - you got it -- they add certain terpenes back into the meds to add that flavor ---

Limonene is the one used to the largest extent -- (easy to come by / great effects / familiar and friendly scent when alone or mixed ) -- citrus and a few other familiar scents
The rep at Tetra said the 2% of terpenes were naturally left in the concentrate and they add the limonene standard to all thur products ! But I guess they now have a few that they are infusing more n less of certain ingredients to create thur very own indica style and saliva style ---- and ... other areas of course -- something i have been putting a lot of thought especially with east coast sub par meds ..

(that actually brings me to some stuff we were doing last year --- we were trying to mix certain terpenes and oils to match up with an existing strain ! --- we worked on 3 separate strains for a while and very successful with results from 2 --- ) this is something we will re-visit --- because -
i would love to add extra and medicine to my medicine -- especially if i could match the terpene profile and get that amazing super TASTE time and time again -- but much more pronounced !!!
* i know many enjoy the fact that wax can sometimes leave zero aroma -- etc.. especially on east coast where all the peeps try n hide what they do and ... well i aint gunna touch my feelings about all the phony peeps ! .....
but its nice when the aroma is so so good -- I want that scent !!!! i want that aroma !

MPZ -- I think you will enjoy the titanium2 coils as well---- of course its soooo different than the old silica or cotton or even ceramic --- and i know u have tried other airstones --
- but the new combo -- really allows for a nice clean taste !
I will imagine you get that peppermint or a lil citrus taste even in that -- especially with the first few hits of each session -- the more terpenes of course the longer that taste will last !

I'm afraid my weekend got cut short as I had to work yesterday night, and am returning to work tonight (my work study job is overnight), but since you mentioned curiosity about my temp control experiments here's a quick update:

First of all, to be specific my device has 100 Temperature coefficient of Resistance (TCR) settings, ranging from .01 to .0001 in steps of .001

These steps are numbered 1 to 100, so to give an example, Stainless Steel has a TCR of .00094, which would correspond to 9 or 10 on my SXK Nebula (Depending on which way you round- and in practice, depending on the stainless alloy, people generally run their satinless coils from 12-16 with devices using this chip.)

When it comes to Ti2, while the TCR of Titanium is .0035 (35 on my device), Ti2 by definition is not 100% Ti (theoretically no wire is 100% pure after all), so in practice people tend to run settings from in the high 30s or low 40s (again with e-liquid). I haven't done any testing with my ti2 atomizers yet though.

I just finished running a real quick test (not vaping, just testing temperature control action at various TCRS) on my ceramic atomizer sans-wick, and I found that at 10w I started to get useful voltage modulation at a TCR of .003 (30 on my device). With these settings (i had max temp set at 240C rather arbitrarily) the SXK nebula steadily ramped up the voltage from 3v-3.7v as the resistance of the Ceramic atty climbed, and after~ 7 seconds (I should have actually counted or timed it, sorry) cut power and began to pulse (semi-smoothly bringing power back up to 10W then cutting it out again).

So, the good news is that Temperature Control is confirmed working on TCR-adjustable mods!


The bad news is that this test suggests that (as invisiblefriend alluded to) the hard-coded TCR settings for Ti on conventional temperature control mods may be a bit high. I would imagine that it may still work (in fact, I will say it will probably work at least on some mods- different ones have different TCRs coded in according to what I hear), just only over a restricted range of settings. Personally, as a low temperature vaper, when I actually do some proper testing (while actually vaping instead of monitoring settings) I plan to set my TCR even lower. Man, I wish I had a DNA200 right now for datalogging.

As I don't know the specific composition of the heating wire the ceramic Kind MD atty is using (and don't blame Kind MD at all for reticence on the specifics of this) i will just have to keep experimenting. Time will tell I suppose. It's a shame my classes are starting up in a week

Thankfully, I have a close friend with the requisite tolerance for some extensive testing (and nice glass to boot! ) who I will be helping move into town on Friday (we attend the same college). I'll see what kind of data and media I can pull together over the upcoming weekend

And, I will continue testing (i can do lots of sans-concentrates testing whenever, thankfully) over the course of this week. it will be interesting to see if having the Ti2 wick in there changes anything.

Used the ceramic a bit yesterday with some shitty oil. Works great, low temp dab is very tasteful (I could taste the shittyness of my oil very powerfully, so I'll try some real oil tonight ) and hits unlike any ceramic disc I've seen/used.

The Ti sponge works great. You should always drop or drop oil onto the pad, and then burn it in. I just took like .3 and dripped it in (sticky taney syruppy oil), and it worked good. Don't mess around with the actual pad, it's loose (for a reason) so it's better just to drip, then cap. Works soo good.

Thank you so much @invisiblefriend for the replacement coils, and the glass piece. I have a milkshot video, but will be getting a better one later tonight with cleaner-vaping oil.

Im so happy to be getting so many amazing reports about both MD-72 coils - both the titanium element and
"special ceramic" heating element -- (this ones flying out !!!!!!! & 4 good reason ! )
I honestly knew we would get a few positive comments and feedback -- but this has been amazing ! We have got beautiful phone messages (and funny ones ) -- just about the lil ceramic coil !

Thank you again 710 for the ceramic titanium2 sponge tip !!!! I agree and you are so correct !

get the sponge all oiled up first ! and then it runs smother after --- so it can handle more than the normal coil since it sucks up a lot -- but allows for a longer session --
- I also like to remove the sponge for a true dab type hit !

i really got the taste on this today !

being in NY -- and having at least 5 products to test and run oil through this week --- i was going crazy with the drought of no good crayons around !

so had to take into our own hands as we often do ! --

ill get into full details with instructions and what we did each step -- but we made a very simple qwiso method --
it was a nice xmas tree smelling buds we were working with --- but I wanted to just add a touch of limonene (i really dig the grapefruit /citrus taste that can be achieved ! ) and a drop of Terpineol to hopefully bring out the pine taste a bit more !
I could have let it be and not add any terpenes -- it had such nice aroma -- but I new qwiso wash even though only 20 seconds would take some or most terps away !

well today -- i was able to give a nice test after purge !

i decided to use the ceramic md72 since it was on my SLIMSS cartridge --- it still had some residue and wasn't clean and white yet --
i just popped a drop of the new wax on top --
kept it pushed at 3.5v -- wasn't fooling with temp control yet -

and boom the taste hit me like a huge baseline ! it was amazing -- the citrus and pine was all about -- upon exhale - the taste was on my tastebuds still !

then the 2nd and 3rd pull --- full clouds and full taste !!!!!
I opened it up to see what was happening inside --- and i see my new wax still pretty and hugging to the side !!!
still was able to grab 3 huge pulls ! and each one but the last had flavor through and through !

terpenes are lovely !

I will let others talk about the KindMD tools -- but i was glad to be using --

just the luck update !

Wow! That looks exactly what I just picked up recently. I just thought it was highly purged shatter. It had a very strong smell and a bright golden color just like that! Wish I had some to throw on the ceramic. Oh well, this weekend I shall have more.

In the process of cropping and uploading some pictures and a milkshot video. Love these sub ohm coils. They can chuck clouds with the other 50W+ box mod ecig crowd, except my clouds are more potent

Question @invisiblefriend - did you make the cups for the Slim cartridge deeper? Seems like they hold more than the previous batch.

It doesn't look like I filled it with vapor... but I think that's just the bright ass TV shining through. I'll try again with a better camera.

These things rip, even with the ~1.5Ohm cartridge.

Put some Dutch Treat shatter into the 0.8 coil. Really like this globe for sessions.

Got some ceramic all nice and fresh and loaded the pad with it. Had to keep myself from drooling into the mouthpiece! Good work @invisiblefriend

710 -- kinda funny n much respect noticing the slight change in size -- yes the ceramic cup has been adjusted a drop so we can use similar size in both ceramic and titanium heating element !
its marginal -- but good looking on noticing !!!!! it works especially well with the airflow in the ceramic element !!

I want to mention anyone who grabs the SlimSS will be eligible to the incredible upcoming "bottle cap" first ! (past customers are already on the list ! )
you will get all of the first stock -- (that includes glass and thermal stainless steel sleeve together)
and we are already accepting a list of clients for 1st manufacturing run already !
this unit will also accept all current coils and will allow full use of our water tool and new dab tool !



I also wanted to make a quick note here for myself and the r & d team -- we are just now starting on working on a new project --
(all other items discussed and shown are still currently on thur way to market -- but to be ahead peeps have raised the bar and we need to be that many steps ahead ! )

I was out west and a friend introduced me to low temp dabbing again -- but it was again back to the torch but a drop more compact -- which I enjoyed
i will admit without giving details yet .... I really enjoyed the experience very very much !
and want to share and will very soon !
we are first working on converting this amazing idea and product into a even more portable (no need for torch!!!!!) so true dab for on the go and not an e-nail or anything of the sort !
I will keep everyone posted !

as always -- I'm just marking today as official day we start working on it ..

I have good news, and bad news.

The Good News......

Is that the ceramic coil with the Ti2 Wick works a treat for big rips out of a Mothership Fab Egg!

I hate to inspire more west coast jealousy, but at least you guys can get these over there! I gotta say tho, it's a nice feeling knowing they are made just a few hours from my place . Was gonna show the exhale but the phone taking the video died

The bad news is that my ceramic atty is now reading a 3.98 ohm resistance on my mod- so when I try to fire it i quickly get a high resistance error. I tried power cycling the mod (yanked the battery) but the same thing happened. It might just be that thermal protection is not working on it, or some other issue with my mod, but it's also possible I broke it with too much power- whoops (no points for guessing why i'm taking this in stride). I remember you saying you tested it at 9V so i didn't really worry about it... my friend even said the hit was a bit hot, was the first pull thru glass with plenty of oil so i guess i overdid it with my guesstimate of 25 watts (with no temp control)... it probably ranged from ~6-8 watts through the rip, but i'm not sure.... I feel awful saying this but I kinda hope it's the atty and not my mod (the coil is far cheaper and faster to replace- I'm about to order another, maybe 2)

I still have 2 Ti coil atties- should be ok

Clearly more testing is required- I was going to do more temperature control tests tomorrow, but i guess I will have to put that on hold.

silly me -- I'm embarressed to say I have not even used my own tools with my glass !

I luv it ----- IM gOIN AT it in about 10 minutes !!!! again gr8 video @MPZ n much propzzz

I must say i have been getting nutty huge clouds -- just like dabs with the current ceramic elements -- i try and keep it clean -- and when cool i drop a small piece of shatter in -- and then push it to make a few huge tasty clouds ! Im digging it a lot and it has already opened the door to some amazing new generation ideas coming up !


oops about the ceramic atty -- but thx for pushing the limits and testing -- those actions are rewarded here at Kind MD !!!!! thk u so very much --

i have had great luck pushing when needed but try and keep below 4.3v -- usually around 3.5v when nice and clean ! which I guess equals about roughly below 14 watts at 4.3v ....
but I know what you may be experiencing .. does it still fire up at all .. (plz read below and try a cleaning )


and regarding the ceramic heating element---- & actually the titanium2 coils to a lesser degree --

Yes we have found that with testing -- of course #1 the heat and higher the power of course you will notice the OHM adjust upwards --- --
I find this especially and most often when the coil or the ceramic is dirty ---- then it sticks at wrong resistance from time to time --- if it hasn't been taken over the top it may be able 2 come back to life ??

with that said once the titanium2 coil stops doing back at the proper OHM -- and same with ceramic -- first off its time to give a clean !

--- I am very surprised at how one sweep turns the coil as well as the ceramic back to brand new -- with taste and OHM ---

but on the negative and reality side --- some testers and myself have found that once the ceramic element or the titanium 2 coil starts to adjust to high OHMs - -- and after the cleaning you still cannot get below 1ohm .. I do believe it is a sign -- that it is on its way out --- maybe it has gotten a drop too hot -- maybe a hotspot below now in the wire ..... but you should be able to still push maybe ???

again I have had luck bringing back to life with cleaning --- and with the ceramic -- that could certainly of course include regular cleaning but use a toothpick or better yet a sewing needle and clean out along the edges - all the material that maybe has built up and is touching and maybe got underneath and is most likely and usually affecting the resistance --

but yes for the KindMD MD-72 models of atomizers I have learned that once I cannot bring them back to steady OHM below 1ohm ---- it is usually a sign that it may be time to replace ---- and yes this may effect the fast fast heat up times -- but I just push up the volts and watts (not using in temp control @ this point of course but still able to use in pulse mode for quite some time ! )

The Titanium2 wrap coils even with our new wicking I believe will always end up at this point after long term abuse and use ! I cannot see a way out of that due to direct concentrate w/heating element touch !

but the newer heating elements in the next generation of KindMD--
as well as the new upcoming dab unit -- will no longer have this "interference" issue -- (of course we will make a wattage that we ultimately should keep it below -- BUT -- the newest technology will be using the heat separate and therefore the ceramic will not be in contact with our air or our concentrate -- it will be below and separate --- -- which of course will make it IMO and in early tests a much more "permanent" cartridge that we will expect to last 4eva and have the ability to be rebuilt if needed !
the current ceramic MD-72 and all titanium2 MD-72 both I would still consider disposable ... even though of course they can be rebuilt and can be used for long long periods without fail or issue ..

Im so happy 2 hear you guys r pushing as far as we can - and thx 4 the reports !

Shit... was going to order a few things but couldn't in time. I will soon, and going to buy some new box mods

Saving up to get a sampler concentrate plate... including moon rock and other ultra pure extracts... We'll see just how the ceramic holds up.

This past week we had availability to amazing concentrates --
* they were all in crumble form which is not the norm on the east coast -
so we grabbed all we could so we could run run run it through our new and current products

I wanted to mention how amazing it performed in all MD-72 coil setups --
both in SlimSS and Bottlecap setups --
and both titanium2 coil element
and the ceramic element --

but I must say it was working in amazing ways with the ceramic md-72
like it was meant to be together ! yum yum yum
it basically did what it was meant to do -- (without the wicking!!!! )
the concentrate pretty much stuck to the sides all the way around and stayed nice and solid ..... creating a tornado type effect with the cap on....
every press of the button caused just enough crumble to melt down n create a super tasty and powerful hit !
was able to continue over and over and over till the end -----
incredible taste and huge hits every single dose !
I was very very happy with performance through and through !

- crumble and the KindMD ceramic MD-72 heating element goes together so well !


PS

regarding the ceramic heating element --- have no fear regarding health when pushing it to your limits -- only worry about how long you want to keep it working in NEW condition -
which is very easy ! you can keep these 4 a long long time !
-- you can push the wattage -- of course but that is when you take small risks of damaging resistance!
but in this generation the one issue that will come 2 be - only when pushed -- is if you keep pushing over the 16 watt area ...
you start risk burning or making hot spots on the wire behind / underneath which then usually will cause your resistance to start becoming unreliable !
Of course normal heat and dirt / gunk will affect the resistance - cleaning is key

a great example -- is the last few batches of concentrate we ran through all our ceramic tests -- burned so very clean ! --- we kept below 4volts at all times --usually about 3.5volts and never had the white ceramic turn dark or burn -- everything just created clean vapor until all gone ! -
not the normal situation on east coast unfortunately - so keep resistance down by cleaning often !
but when cleaning do not only use the heat up technique all the time -- plz use sum elbow grease ! lol - just use the brush tool and the heat combined and it will clean up at 15 watts !
