If you're collecting kief with your grinder, then there is no mesh size that will prevent leaf particles. Some leaf crumbles into particles at least as small as trichomes so you can't escape it. If you're offered "kief" and it looks greenish, this is why. It contains leaf material. Real kief is golden, not green.

I don't think any one size is best different strains will have different size trichs. Different size trichs also tend to have different effects normally smaller micron trichs have more of a head high. A box with a cpl sieving screens is probably best like 120, 90, and 70 microns or thereabouts.

It's not always the size of screen it can be how aggressive your sieving is also.

pak's post refers to a grinder, not a kief box. Most kief box screens are going to filter out leaf material. The mesh size I've seen most, with kief boxes, is 100 micron.

Could you use water-hash bags to dry filter leaves and stems? I've got chunks of 160 and a 70 micron bags that died in action.

Yeah but it's probably not worth your time. Throw them in the 160 and see if you get anything. Add a little dry ice to maximize yield, however dry ice also makes the leaves crumble easier, so it can lead to greater contamination if you're shaking is too aggressive.. When I've made makeshift sifters, I found around 120-130 to be the best. Anything much smaller cuts into yield a lot.

Thank you very much! Just what I needed to know. (well,except for needing to where to GET good hash). I've seen the selection in some dispensaries......damn near a wet dream! Be thankful if you live in a MMJ state. Your choices are amazing. Around here we have 2 choices.
1, half-ass mids
2,sobriety
